I got a Tempest had it for about 20 years can't remember how many levels are on it. thought I needed a new mother daughter board for it, found one, but all it needed was a diff. wire bundle connector. "Steeljaws Game Room" cool vid.
dear, please tell me how, to use a pc, to start the game, to simulate the original arcade, the original arcade there wasn´t the windows xp when start the machine, how to to in this case, what emulator are you using? so thakns if you can help me, cause i want to do as the original cabinet
This game was my favorite when I was a kid, and others didn't seem to agree but now I see it has kept an almost cult following since it was undeniably different for it's time and had a creepy evil feel which I loved. Any advice for an old timer that still plays one of these at an arcade? I have trouble getting anywhere into the red level so I'm not very good yet... the game can seem inconsistent at times, I noticed you could straddle a open lane then it would kill you sometimes when closing?
Sorry i don't use my computer much and forgot to write you directly, I asked about any advice after getting to the red levels and higher on the old standup arcade game? i use one at a great new arcade
Didn't have much time to practice this when it came out, so I'm still having trouble learning the opening gaps in the red levels haha... sometimes I can step on them sometimes it kills me. I'll figure it out I suppose but any advice would be great. You did it on your own so I suppose you may not feel like giving out tips...
@abbeykroeter : in fact... no tips at all > may be just 1 : finding the good place (great angle aperture) to kill the ones who are "rounding" the perimeter (or just passing under, but its quite riski)
@RipleYYY Dude thank you. I've been aol again but now back reading replies... some in MMA some in video games. The game at the arcade is starting to stutter when it should be shooting. Makes a "chuffing" noise and nothing comes out sometimes when you really need it! Makes it even harder for me to get anywhere, and the arcade owner is a temperamental snob; only talks to the people great at pinball. Funny huh? I've been polite and spent money there, but I could totally kick his ass blindfolded.
my son had 12 years, he likes old games i was playing when i was young (lol), and his favorite is TEMPEST with no doubt... here's a little video starting level 52 !!! his best today is level 60 with a score around of 579.000... not bad heh, even if i suppose some guys in the word did finish the game (64 levels i think)
is this the one with the awesome knob where if you spin it really fast it goes "VROOOOM"

Awesome your getting there dude,
Im guessing your using MAME for space reasons?
i understand that completely,
i love the tempest Upright cabinet though :P
atari26003 3 years ago
sure ! especially using the round control buton, much easier that the keyboard or the mouse...
RipleYYY 2 years ago
Yup! Is that why you have MAME though? because of space?

kolkatathered 4 years ago
