In 7 hours I counted 56 messages the first night I signed up, most of them just read "hey, how's it going?" or something along those lines, and unless I find the person interesting judging by their profile I won't reply. I do believe I've met someone from using the site though, so at least we know it works to some extent!

I think a reason people fail to get replies is because they are too concerned with why they are on the site and not just thinking about having a pleasant conversation with someone.
