I want a MARTIN D-45 guitar that looks and sounds excellent like the one STEPHEN STILLS is playing with JOHN SEBASTIAN. Plus, a 12-string version of this would be excellent, and I do not want built in pickups on it at all.
Esalen......what an experience! Growing up in the Monterey area, we'd head 'down coast' for a night in the hot tubs. So f****d up the next morning that the ride back was perilous.
I was at The Big Sur Folk Festival over 40 years ago. I'm 63 now and remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for posting this movie it really takes me back.
THAT CHICK IS LILLIAN ROXON!!!!!!!!! FAMOUS AUSTRALIAN MUSIC JOURNO WHO WAS BASED IN NYC AND WAS A DENIZEN OF MAX'S KANSAS CITY. SADLY SHE DIED IN 1973 - THE GOOD DIE YOUNG.
yep...& most of these hippies turned into Arsehole babyboomers who have destroyed our freedoms..ignorant arrogant uneducated nihilist Arseholes...Esalen was & still is a brainwashing institute for communists ,the left side of the paradigm financed by foundation fronts on behalf of Macy group & frankfurt school glaobalist banking scum..& they brainwashed these "hippies " well.....they ALL hate freedom & the Constitution these "hippies"...try pinning up a constitution or talking about the Fed Res!
I was there and worked there. It was fun to see the video and I am quite nostalgic about it. There was a lot of trash left ( guess who got to clean it up the next day) but there was no "piss and shit" to speak of.
Love her, or hate her, Joan Baez has one of the most destinctive voices, ever. It's pure. It's her own style and I always believe it helped define the 60's folk-rock sound.
I wonder what people who were there in the audience think when they come on youtube and see themselves 40 years later in the movie.Must be surreal with all the huge change in the world compared to then.
When I was a freshman and sophomore in high school, WABC in NY would play this movie on New Years Eve. My best friend Andrea and I would stay up and watch. I was so in love with Stephen Stills! I was much younger than him, but funny thing is his wife is the same age as me. My husband just read my comment and is making fun of me right now.
Yup, you were there if you remember that! They show folks picking up garbage and imply it was left quite tidy after the shows, but actually there was ALOT of garbage left behind and the smell of folks who couldn't make it to the few available toilets!
I didn't have to sleep in a car or by the side of the road. I don't remember the smell, but I do remember helping to pick up the trash. Would that more people did.
I'm 40 yrs old & no only did I not know these festivals to ever exist--I cannot believe that that have these pieces of musical history chronicled on Film! Amazing. And good quality at that. Where do you guys find all these? I'm surprised they haven't been lost to time, or something.

It is surreal. A time warp. Seeing the property, the landscape, other people who lived there. It's strange and wonderful. I didn't dream it.
