I think that you are right that there are people who claim to be Christians who are self-righteous, judgmental, hypocritical people who try to place God into their agenda. However, it is my belief that these people are not Christians. Christianity is essentially submitting oneself to the Lordship of Christ and accepting his gift of faith and salvation (not by works EPH 2). I'm a Christian and I'm very concerned with the false image of Christianity today.

Neither of these two are worthy of the title followers of Christ. For they have used His name to do evil. But as they sowed, so they will reap many times over. Falwell has gotten his and Robertson's is awaiting him. Unlike Scrooge, they get no second chance.

Look. this has been America's opinion for 370 years. Everyone believed this a few years ago. After some social engineering, things changed. Intolerance is a new buzzword so don't be so hard on those who believe another way. You are simply the other side of the coin.

I don't really care about either. My point is that the "backwards" is subjective with regards to judging another because they are Christian and believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, which is the crux of this country's foundation. I have lived long enough to watch the transition and those above 50, though silent, believe similarly. Not progressive in their thinking, perhaps backwards but significant in influence are the baby boomers who follow such doctrines. I am sure Rome...

WAIT WAIT WAIT... READ A HISTORY BOOK! The innerancy of the bible is NOT the foundation of this country... and anybody who thinks it is just happens to be uninformed... does the word deist mean anything to you?? Go to W-pedia and read what Jefferson had to say about faith and the bible... we are not a robertson/falwell thinking country.. in the political climate of the American revolution, they'd probably have been dismissed as loons.

In 1979, Falwell founded the Moral Majority, which became one of the largest political lobby groups for evangelical Christians in the United States during the 1980s. The Christian religion is not responsible for justifying black enslavement. Those who participated in that and the continued apartheid in America may CALL themselves Christians but they are NOT. It's that simple. See, medicolegal dot tripod dot c*m slash abolitionist dot htm*. Don't include the asterisks. Despite being white, some of these men WERE Christians.
