Answers: Nasa bahay si Mary (Mary is in the house)

Where = Saan pumunta si Mary? (Where did Mary go?)

Answers: Pumunta si Mary sa Palawan. (Mary went to Palawan)

when you pronounce nasaan you should accent or emphasize the last "a", lika "nasa-AN" not "na-SA-an"

galing is the past tense of "to go" Example: Saan ka galing? Where-you-went?

Pupunta is future of "to go" Example: Saan ka pupunta? Where-you-will go?

What is the exact translation for 'galing' and 'pupunta' just so I'm clear, I want to know so I can use them in further context.

that's quite interesting! i knew the difference, but couldn't really explain where the difference was - being born as a filipino, but only speaking english, i know the fundamentals of tagalog and can understand almost exactly - its just in speaking and adding the different prefixes etc. (like na- in nasaan) that i get tongue-tied. as a linguist its probably a lot easier to pick out the different tagalog parts of speech. thanks for sharing!

Good video. Nasaan and Saan (for those who understand Japanese) is similar to doko ni and doko de with the exception of where are you.

you prounounce "saan" with the accent on the first syllable which is right. but when you say "nasaan" the accent changes and it should actually be pronounced nasaAN

you will use "nasaan" if you want somebody to tell you where a certain PERSON or THING is for ex.: nasaan ang pera ko? = where's my money? / nasaan ang anak ko? =where's my son/daughter?.. and "saan" if you wanna know where a particular PLACE is located. saan ba matatagpuan ang cubao? = where can i find cubao? / saan ito nangyari? = where did this happened? :)

Saan is also used with compounds, like "saan galing," "taga saan," or "kahit saan" in sentences that don't necessarily have verbs (something you can't do in English). I think of it more as "nasaan" for location only, and "saan" for a destination or origin.

Nice job again, you seem grasp saan and nasaan fully. A little clarification:

the accent on nasaan should be on the last syllable, not on the first. instead of naSAan, it should be nasaAN. also, saan is used with verbs and nasaan is used with everything else. sige pa pre!
