Classic movie, severly underrated. So many themes, messages and meanings in this film. Great drinking game do a shot evertime you hear the name rusty James. You won't make it past the 7 minute mark. I'm a SE Hinton fan, but FF coppola understood it and made it way darker than the book.

brilliant movie with a performance by the tragically hip Rourke thats up there with Brando.....And Cage was very good in the 80's,check out his knock out performance in BIRDY and VAMPIRES KISS two classic movies.........And Rumble Fish would have be the only movie that has a distinctive plot reason for it being in black and white,namley because the Motorcycle Boy is colorblind......The movie just wont make sence if it was in color,then we wouldnt be able to see the fish,ah those fuckin fish

I read Rumble Fish on my own during 8th grade after having to read The Outsiders. I loved The Outsiders so naturally I checked out Hinton's other stuff. This movie is just raw and beautiful. And Mickey Rourke was SOOOO hott in this movie. Goddamn it's such a huge difference seeing him in this movie and then in The Wrestler. My, how time changes everyone.

I had totally forgotten about this! I liked Mickey Rourke a lot, and for awhile I thought of Bruce Willis as a guy who looks like Mickey Rourke but isn't as good. Once I became more familiar with Bruce Willis they didn't look as much alike to me.
