The Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS captured my imagination as a 15 year old in 1987. All I knew is that if a bad ass like Earnhardt drove one, I wanted one too. I've had a Monte Carlo in my garage ever since.
I love chevrolet, chevrolet breath, let out of things to ride my Chevrolet, said that I can only thank this great man for having created this work of art that paved the way for all other ..... chevy forever ..... by André (ursoss)
Wow! I'm glad they mentioned Opala's Stock Car from Brazil! Remembering that the series was sponsored only by Chevrolet (racing later with Omega, Vectra, Astra and the current model of Vectra). And in my county, there was a series sponsored by GM, the Copa Corsa.
Beside the fact that I was born in a golden Chevette '80.
@Antonio88870 I know that, but I'm not talking about Copa Montana. There was a series placed here in Ceara (and, I think, in every state of Brazil, being part of the old Chevrolet Challenge, in which Opala and Omega Stock Car were placed) named Copa Corsa. The two first seasons were sponsored by Chevrolet; after that, they left the series.
The most successful American car brand name in motorsports is Chevrolet. That's a fact. They're actually nominated for a segment in the International Motorsports Expo, or something like that, called Global motorsports Brand of the year with Porsche, lotus, and some other brand I believe. Congrats on the success and thanks for the great ride!
@TheHm3 Senna never raced in Indy, just in formula one, the guy in the picture is Emerson Fittipaldi, another Brazilian who became a legend (he is alive but is legend!) In which the car is Fittipaldi has the same paint because his team was the sponsor Marlboro, just like the old McLaren at the time of Senna.
Marlboro was the same painting to painting the Gulf, several cars of several different motor racing Tiam, exect the fact that the painting of Marlboro was only used in racing formula.
Proud to say I piloted a Chevy to this years H Stock championship in my local SCCA region. A region that hosted Louis Chevrolet's first race in the 1909 Cobe Cup driving a Buick...
@keviiinn Chevrolet dominates a lot of racing series. They are most proud of their work in Le Mans and especially in GT1 which they won 6 YEARS IN A ROW (24 Hrs of Le Mans and Le Mans Series) as a result Le Mans banned the FULL GT1 class. Now they are a bit shaky in GT2 but they will get their magic back come 2012 or come the C7.R. But Chevy still dominates Le Mans winning 2011 GTE class. Chevy is successful in NASCAR, WTCC, ALMS and ELMS and at times FIA GT. They should start doing F1. :)
@TheHm3 I don't know if you're in the U.S. or in Europe, but in the U.S. Chevrolet and GM barely ever tout any of their successes in international motorsport, aside from an occasional mention of Corvettes at Le Mans. this is the first time I've seen the WTCC even referenced to in something aimed at American viewers
@keviiinn I guess Chevy doesn't like to win and tell ;) I'm from the US and I think GM is doing well, especially with Chevrolet in both racing world and in the real world. And I bow to them for making an amazing comeback along with Ford. Now, GM should start F1 racing and they will come back in ALMS GT2 next year, their season this year was not that good coming in 3rd place to BMW and Porsche. But there is an improved 2012 C6.R they are working on that should blow the BMW and Porsches away! :)
@keviiinn I wish WTCC, along with more GT class races were better promoted. Things might changer for the better though. Here's to never giving up! ^_~
Good, Corvette Racing is getting a new C6.R for 2012 and a C7.R by 2014. C'mon Corvette Racing! WIN 2012 ALMS and Le Mans! Dominate like the C6.R dominated GT1! It felt as if they were slacking off this year, they better pick up the pace next year because it seems to me like they forgot the quote "Behind every great Corvette, there's a BMW". Do they think it's the other way around?
There was an SCCA manufacturer's ban on direct corporate investment into racing in most of the '50s and '60s so many of the teams driving GM cars were private teams but were surreptitiously funded by GM. Corvettes were some of the biggest benefactors of that backdoor funding. Without it, the Corvette program would never have succeeded and persevered.
Harley Earl, Bill Mitchell, and Ed Cole? Strongest men ever to stand up for Corvette. Thanks, gents.

Congratulations, Chevy. Brazil salutes you, too.

@ninosummersthe race shown in the video is not the Copa corsa, but the copa montana pickup derived from the agile, successor to the corsa.
the copa montana wore the old version of Montana, but after the release of new version, changed the old with the new.
