he was the top 3 at the dreamtheather audition, and they didnt chose him just b-cuz he seems to be a heavyer style and also he was much younger than all of them, mike was more like them... and they never say mike was the superior drummer of the top 3... they say, he was the right choise for the band.
Amazing. Wildoer was the first drummer I saw use a second snare (before Roddy on I Monarch) and the first I saw use the little bell cymbals in fills and patterns for that little tinkly sound which really stands out (before Haley in Psycroptic and Adler in LoG).
That is my maths teacher!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D I know you dont believe me but he is actually a teacher at the school i'm going to in sweden. He teaches drums (ofc) and maths, and he's awsome :D
Saw Darkane in Vancouver at the Croation Cultural Center when Sydow was with them, sick set, they tore the hell outta that gig. Peter's the man. Nuff said \m/
Peter Wildoer attacks his drumset like he is cornered in a machinegun nest with 1,000 advancing enemy troops. Every movement puts a bullet in a body, even reloading kills something.....
Nej det är jag inte, men jag håller ofta åttondelarna i min vänsterfot (samtidigt som virveln) när jag spelar "skank beat" (2-takt). Kansk en ful ovana? ;-)
Strange? There are no triggers used. That's the acoustic kick drum microphone you hear from the monitors. Perhaps not the best sound, but easy to hear and easy to follow for the other musicians. ;-) I know the kick drum sounds better in the PA. The trigg mic used on the snare is used acoutically to add that extra "punch" in the PA, not triggering a mudule or likewise.
@malteadotas4 Personal Opinion: Darkane is not the great metal band, for me... but Pete is just the best Metal drummer now. There are many incredible drummers around, but Pete, again is just BRILLIANT... This video shows all his resources... And the way he executes, woow.. I been playing for 20 years, and I wish I could play 1/2 of what he does.
@acdcfreakNr1 for real?? wow! you know what was really cool? how he impressed the Dream Theater guys when he auditioned. He didn't get the job but Petrucci and Rudess looked very surprised.
Amazing performance Peter... you inspired me to get a bell... not the one you play, but a like playin' my zil-bel and my ride bell the way you do... thanks for your work with Arch Enemy, Armageddon, Darkane, Pestilence & Electrocution 250...
I'm not using any triggers, never had, only acoustic microphones. The snare is a Tama Starclassic B/B 14x6.5. I'm using an Iron Cobra Rolling Glide in this clip and used to play the Flexi Glide before. It's true that I have a Trick Pro 1-V too that I'm using for my practise kit at home, but I'm using the Rolling Glide live.
Thanks for all the nice comments, that's what keep the drum community going! :-)
@MrPIENAL Hey there! I often use a ddrum trigger but not to trigger a module but to use the acoustic signal from it. When you blend that together with the normal snare microphone you get a very distinctive sound. The kit I play in this video is Dirk Verbeuren's kit when Darkane supported Soilwork and both Dirk and I use this "trick". Try it!!!
Thanks to everyone that commented on this clip. You make want to continue evolve!!!
@Wildoerfaren Hello ! I use ddrum trigger and ddrum module on the bass drum's when I play some live concert's and I blend normal bass drum sound with signal from ddrum module.
In the studio when whith my band I record new album I use the normal signal from trigger ofcourse normal microphone too, hahahahaha and I try this trick whith snare .
@Wildoerfaren Peter, What is your opinion of the new Speed Cobra compared to the Pro 1-V? I just bought the Speed Cobra simply because I love my Iron Cobras and I could justify the price compared to the Tricks, but you have practiced with both. What is your honest opinion about using both pedals? Is the Trick Pro 1-V worth the extra money over the Speed Cobra?
Thanks for your positive reactions!!! Means A LOT to me! :-)
@forethought78 What pedals to use is very personal. I like the Pro 1-V because it's easier to play faster but I've never been a fan of "direct drive" since I'm more "old school" and like the feel of "normal" pedals. The Speedcobra brings the best from both worlds, speed and power. I also don't play super fast double bass and want the feel and power of a regular pedal so Speedcobra is my choice!
@Wildoerfaren Thank you for the quick response. I took a gamble and got the speed cobras, and really I couldn't be happier with my pedals. I'm a big fan, and hope the best for your career!
@Siggedrummer I don't use that snare trigger for triggering a module or triggered sound. It's used as an acoustic microphone. The trigger just makes a click/pop sound that is great to blend with the other snare mics and gives an extra crack for the rimshot sound.
I think Fredrik of Mehuggah was the first one to experiment with this years almost 15 years ago. Dirk Verbeuren also uses the snare trig the same way.
When in the studio I use triggers on toms to control gates if I don't edit them.
its incredible watching the number of drummers that are following right in the footstep of the mighty gene hoglan. i love peter and all those drummers and you can clearly see and hear that big gene influence all the time. gene hoglan is the most influential drummer of the extreme metal scene cause he combined sheer speed and incredible technique. peter is one of my favorite drummer cause like big gene he can do it all.
Iäm hes fucking neighbour. He had his drumset in the romm next to mine for I while, I know the guy :P He got the Trick pro 1-v big foot pedals like a year ago.
