This Guy seems very good. I know small amounts of this art form, all taught by Philippine Masters. I even went to the Philippines, great country.great people. Please correct any thing that is in error. Cebu seemed the best place, there was more schools there. It has been many years since I was there. Thanks for sharing this masters views, his style was great. Any info on him would be appreciated. Mabuhay : God Bless the Philippines
@steveo27545 Arnis traditionally comes from Luzon & Cebu. Tondo is known as the "heart of Arnis" in Luzon. If you go to Luneta Park in Manila you can see several masters practising during the morning, especially on Sundays. Arnis is also mandatory in schools & compulsory in universities nowadays. Anyway, what I want to say, there are tons of schools, but you may have to know some natives to find them.
@zellymusic right. (de)Fencing is a martial art. Kenjutsu is a martial art. Everyone knows how terrible it was when they became sports. Boxing is a martial art. Everything went downhill with the Marquis de Queensbury rules... well, a little bit. The point is, having sports versions of these arts doesn't hurt them. Anyways, there are a lot of Filipino systems that are not alive-- they're never practiced with realism anyways. Same as anything else.
@zellymusic theres so many ways you can learn Arnis (Eskrima) that Even if they Made it into a sport It wont change it that much xD As long as Someone who studies it Went through the training of fighting WIth or without a Weopon, It can probably still expand so much more xD
I'm very proud to be a student of Latosa Escrima. It has everything I was looking for in a martial art: Speed, power, efficiency, practicality. Simple yet sophisticated. GM himself is also great at explaining the concepts in a scientific and analytical manner
@TheGreaterGood80 I took lessons from master Latosa during the Fort Mason days in san francisco - that was 25 yrs ago. Thanks for everything - rodney aquino
Write ( Globastien ) then you will know about your origin you forgot. Again, not to forget late Legendary Grand Master Angel L. Blancia. Your truest Grand Master " Rene Latosa "
The Concepts of Grandmaster Latosa are pure logic. They are valid in all areas of life. His short power, speed and balance are unique. Everybody who is interested in effectiveness should attend his seminars.

NO IT SHOULD NOT BE AN OLYMPIC SPORT!!
MARTIAL ARTS IS NOT MENT FOR SPORTS. I KNOW THERE ARE ARTS THAT HAVE BEEN MODIFIED FOR SPORTS.
WHATS AVAILABLE IS ENOUGH!
LETS KEEP ESCRIMA /KALI AS IT'S ENTENDED ,A FIGHTING SYSTEM.
THE HISTORY OF IT DID NOT SAY "HEY THIS WOULD BE COOL IF IT COULD BE CONVERTED INTO A GAME"
