Would there be breeding farms where "forced fertilization" would take place, cuz I'm sure some people don't have a problem with killing something they can't see[abortions], but you don't want to have to see and name something you'll have to eat later. How about feeding them pregnancy hormones to increase the crop and turn people into the cattle that we so closely resemble anyway.
