  • weird, thats almost the exact same chord progression as my little girl by jack johnson

  • is this an electric on acoustic sim?

  • @donmeswimee nope, its a hybrid taylor guitar

  • berklee dude

  • Thanks for the explanation!

  • Dude! What kid of guitar do you have? it sounds really good

  • Nice guitar man:) Gotta love the T5´s:)

  • Simple song. Its in the Key of D. Throw the capo on the 2nd fret and the chord progression is Bm, G, Bm, A. Same progression for the chorus. Enjoy.

    -Trev

  • nice nice nice

  • i'm thinkin it's 7-9-11-7-x-x for the first one, but everything else sounds awesome. then at the "ooo you get in..." you switch to the 0-7-5-7-x-x for the 1st

  • John Mayer- Assassin Music Video up on youtube

  • is that a taylor?

  • a T5? i'm jealous beyond all measure

  • hey bluewaterpig you're a d-bag..... who the f cares how it's spelled?? nice job man.. if thats not right it's the closest i've seen.

  • It's Berklee College of Music, where John went to school, not Berkley University. And your chords are wrong.

  • is that a T5?

    me = jealous

  • The chord you want to use isn't a bminor#5 it is a bminor9 stacked in fifths e b g 7 D 11 A 9 E 7 He uses those kind of shapes in that entire video until he gets to the minor ii-V sequence. If I remember it is bminor9 G bminor9 Amaj9....all stacked fifth chords Peace
  • the T5 is the shit!!

  • Dude, loving that Taylor T5!!!

    Great post!

  • nice cover, but why don't you just play the Bm Chord like that:

    7-9-x-7-x-x

much easier and playable with johns thumb-technique^^

  • because it's not the right chord then, I swear some of you guitarists only care about playing every song in the easiest possible way.

  • I would say that my and your version include exactly the same notes... tell me if I'm wrong

  • ok... you're wrong haha. He's not playing a regular Bm chord, technically, that's a Bm#5. The chord you mentioned (the easier way) would be a Bm6 two different chords. So you would be missing out out the dark spooky harmony in the song. So don't cut corners anymore! lol

  • haha damn, actually the real chord is a Bm but the chord you wanted to use was a Bm#5 . My bad

  • 7-x-4-7-x-x

    and

    7-9-x-7-x-x

I can't hear even one different note..?

(I'm not a professional guitarist by the way, I just don't know where the difference is, beside possble ghost notes)

  • you can't hear a difference because there isn't one Haha. My bad, I misread your tab the first time, you can play it either way.

  • "make things as simple as you can. but do not make them more simple" Albert Einstein

  • I hear you guys on the 7-9-x-7 they are very similar and John is a thumber. For me the previous chord is just easier. I would love to see the video of that show if it's around.

And yes she is a T-5; buttery smooth to play. The tone is a little "plunky/hollow" in the high notes though but I love it.

  • Found the video!! Sweeet.

  • @TaG0ne

    Here is the vid

John Mayer Clinic @ Berklee "Inspiration Information" - #6

  • Here you go:

    0-7-5-7-x-x Em7

    3-x-0-2-x-x Gsus2

    7-x-4-7-x-x Bm

    5-x-7-6-x-x A

Into the "get gone" part it switches to Bm A G. Still working on the complete song but I'll put it on the net soon.

  • Sorry that's Bm A Gsus2. I can play the whole song with these 4 chords.

  • Actually mate, I think the "get in, get gone" part should be Em7 and then a quick change from Bm to A.

    But great job on this!

  • Wrong.

  • Any possibility of gettin this tabbed? Sounds dead on with the Berklee session, nice job.

  • closest i've heard so far....
