  • tuning problem at 8.30? sort it out Mintz!

  • 4;06 hes tearing blood OMG

  • WOW. One of my favorite of all time. I LOVE what he does at the end. Just to show off, he plays the last run before the A major arpeggios all up the G-string to the F#. It was picture perfect. Absolutely phenomenal!!!!

  • j'adoooooooooooooooore

  • Heifetz is a talent that comes every 100 years, Hassid every 200, Mintz every 300! Stunning.

  • Could this performance have possibly been more perfect? The greatest ever!

  • He speaks with the violin. So expressive.

  • Shlomo is so perfect to express the feelings .. SO :-))) forget that wonderful tecknique , just enjoy EVERYTHING TOGETHER . BRAVOOOOO..I really enjoyed .WOW..........

  • what a sound of violin, just superb !!! thank u a lotttttt !

  • Bravooo Bravoooo!!! Ending sul G nice!!!

  • An excellent performance. Any idea when this was filmed?

  • When was this shot? Is Shlomo Mintz really that old?!?!? But very poor audio and visual quality.

  • OMG thanks for uploading!

  • 9:30 haha

  • perfect violinist(in this video)

  • huuu esto si me gusto.....

  • Shlomo seems to me as a new Heifetz but with a sweet honey sound. BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thanks!!!

  • Shlomo y el director están en sintonía con la cadencia de sus peinados

  • Paganinian!

  • The best Introduction and Rondo EVER..

    Long life to the greatest

    SHLOMO MINTZ

  • @bigpop56 yes...better than heifetz, i think......

  • I dunno why you got spam-blamed.

BTW I quite agree with you :-)

    Shlomo is the most fantastic!

  • Comment removed

  • that's what's available so here you go :-)

    I'm not complaining...

  • the best rendition of the saint saens i 've seen. the sound is gorgeous and seemingly effortless. never thought i'd say that about a weathered old VHS recording reproduced on youtube.

  • Once, four years ago I tried to study this piece and its difficulty is main due to the intense self control and its transparency. It's like playing Mozart but with a terrible charge of technician problems. Mintz does these so easy....

  • also just to agree w sev of the comments here -he is clearly on fire here -so much passion emtion and panache and a true love of the violin come out v clearly here. in the sibelius (alos on YT) he is totally absorbed by the music and then at the end of the movmt seems to emerge from a trance and stare wildly at the condutor. i agree w kurara63 i think he has outdone his mentor stern here

  • this is my fav violin piece of all time, sadly i will never be able to play anywhere near this standard, b'cos despite the poor qual of vid, the quality of playing is v clearly evident - superb

  • Wonderful...

  • Bravo!

  • I just wanted to add that I don't think I have ever seen any musician able to get into "the zone" or such a trance like state as Mr. Mintz. I have watched him go without blinking sometimes..an entire Paganini Caprice without one blink. He has marvelous style and technique-and he plays this piece with the fire I believe Saint-Saens intended.

  • he's got some great bow strokes going on here like I have not heard another use in the Intro-it sounds very luxurious. But how OLD is he? He seems to be ageless. This piece is marvelous--one of my favorites, Francescatti does a jaw dropping performance of this as well

  • hahahahaha your comment made me laugh man....cause i thought the exact same thing.

  • :) Did some research and found out he is only 50...he really doesn't change much in appearance from video to video!

  • simply one of the best performances of a violin piece ever.Heart and mind glowing in

    an effervescent dance.

  • Thank you for posting it! I am waiting for the better copy!

Although the quality of the video is not the best,we can still hear his brilliant sound.

I love Shlomo!! and I think he is better than

his master? Stern.(He also has a very velvet

sound, but I think it was very fast, that he

    lost his prime season..)

  • Thanks for posting this! It´s not as old as it seems, must be around 82/83 - it´s may orchestra playing, you can see me in the cellosection far left at 6.27....anyway, I´ll try to get a better copy from our broadcasting company - they should have it in their archives...

  • May I ask what orchestra this is?

  • fantastic violinist...one of the bests

  • Wouldn't it be nice if we all could have spiccatos that sparkled and crackled like that...?

  • the B&W thing makes this clip so attractive, haha

  • Why B&W? looks so old.. even older than heifetz's videos

  • Fantastic.

  • If David Oistrakh wasn't in the audience, then he should have been. My favourite video *.5stars

  • Thank you!

    precious video

    i love Shlomo Mintz!!

  • Sound quality may not be top notch, but it's nice to hear Mintz in his prime!
