Heprobably related to holden and wanted to retain innocence and is confused about life (just my beliefs). this song is a very innocent view i believe. If one god is real then are the other people all gona die sinners? He doesnt accept that. so he doesnt believe. in fourty days he says "what a waste so many decent people at the gates"
