I've been fortunate enough to go to many places in the world, but this island has to be the most unique of them all. It's forests are unrivalled and there's something so calm and tranquil about the island. Also, if you have the pleasure of staying overnight, then you get an absolutely amazing view of our Universe if there's no cloud.

Love this Island, just wish I could have spent more than 24 hours there.

I'ts beautiful there, geographically the Canary islands are part of Africa, north west coast. Wow, the Spanish stole everything & infused their culture and language, Is there any part of the Earth they didn't colonize? They even drove the moors and Jews out of Europe during the Spanish Inquisition... Can't change history, still like to visit one day...

jrgbx is right but sizzle75 too. La Palma is one of the 7 Canary Islands and Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria another one of the 7 Canary Islands. There is a locality called Puerto Rico on the south side of Gran Canaria.

It's too late for you, but Puerto Rico is not on "La Palma" but on Gran Canaria. La Palma is a small green, beautiful island with little tourism.

There are virtually NO young Nth European partying people on La Palma, it is PERFECT for families who like outdoor holidays on an unspolit island with only a few beaches.

Tenerife is only 50 miles away, but also 50 years. Think Tenerife before tourism, and that is La Palma
