@miromasterboy das nennt man locke, und wird heutzutage (beim stabsmusikkops der bundeswehr zb) glaube ich so lang gespielt, bis die ehrenformation nah genug ist, dass sie, mit dem eigentlichen marsch an den haltepunkten ankommt, also damit er nicht 5 mal rauf und runter gespielt werden muss

Preussens Gloria! Wonderful song! I have studied Preussen and admire it. In the video, have the colors of modern Germany and the Weimarer Republik! The colours of Preussen were black-white and later red was added. (FYI). Otherwise a wonderful rendition! It is a shame that Preussen was dissolved in 1947. They should have dissolved Bayern-Bayern was the birthplace and origin of National Sozialism.

Is it a tradition that a theme in G flat major needed to be played by piccolos and drums before the beginning of any German march? Anyway, this march is definitely a master piece. I got another version in E flat major with A flat major, I guess this version is in D flat major with G flat major, right? :)

This theme with piccolos and drums is called "Locke" (locken = to lure). It is played, while the band is marching wihtout playing a particular march and it should "lure" the musicians to play the next song.

It is not an impossible cultural situation. The Germans need only acknowledge the truth: that they were greatly wronged. If you read the treaty of Versailles with a level head, you can only conclude that the authors were devoid of any sense of decency.

As for the USSR, it was a monster of over 300 divisions which would have overrun all Europe if not for German resistance. German policies of this era were perfectly appropriate for a right minded Christian country. What goes around.....

Versailles was the result of a completely different war than the one that looms over us now. Yes, Versailles was ruthless. And that is why it was not repeated.

At the end of the second war, the allies realized full well that it was the likes of Versailles, among so much else, that spawned the conflict. Hence why today's Germany is weakened... NOT crushed.

@ufosenbomen Hey guy, it's a typical german melody. It's a short melody to begin the ''real'' marchsong. The German Bundeswehr played this short melody at the beginning from much german marches. Also how a little Intro before the historical marchsong starts.
