  • i remeber watching this show, cant figure out if it was a real game show or just a commercial trick for crue, but i had never heard them before this, bought the album the next day and one year later everyone else had it too!...lol

  • @madmaxxmayhem I watched it too...............What was the name of the game show?

  • ====I would have SPAZZED totally out=====

  • Total lip synching, though.

  • Shout at The Devil was the first hard rock/heavy metal album I´ve ever heard then. I was 10 years old, it was during the 80's when a cousing 6 years older than me, gave it to me. It blasted my world. Then I started to listen to Metallica, Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Judas Priest, Saxon, Dio, Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols, and other bands, but Mötley Crüe and Shout at The Devil, will always be beggining of all

  • did vince just almost knock mick over at 9 second mark?

  • this is fucking amazing

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW!

  • Looking at The Crue today, it can be hard to understand how they got so popular. But when you see this clip, it makes perfect sense. The charisma and attitude presence is incredible. I hate to admit it but a lot of it is carried by Vince. He turned into a fat, drunk, lazy front man and lost his edge but, man...back in these days he was just awesome.

  • @hyperfocus Yea ur prob right that and nikki runnin around and jumpin up and down, and tommy beating the fuck out of his drum set and mick just bein a vicious guitar player lol but alot of the focus was on vince or nikki for sure

  • Nikki Sixx is cool he said it on facebook to come here x)

  • lol sounds like they are playing a track.

  • @countlordshaun1331 they are...nikki confesed on sixx sense a while back..hah...they had to..

  • @countlordshaun1331 It is. The bell has no reason to be in there (after 'The clock strikes midnight').

  • I love this clip!! I grew up with the Crüe and once a Crüehead always a Crüehead!!

  • Thumbs Up If Nikki Sixx Brought You Here

  • yeah Nikki Sixx brought me here cuz he shared this video on facebook

  • Nikki sent me here via facebook- I loved this era of Motley, minus vince not singing.

  • Nikki Sixx just shared your video on Facebook :D

  • @PhilipDeVille that's what brought me here

  • @PhilipDeVille Sweet!!!:-)

  • @PhilipDeVille hahaha lucky guy!

  • Even lip synching,they kick Metallica's ass

  • @TheCJShameless They'd kick Metallica's ass if they were jacking off in an upstairs bathroom with the water running.

  • MOTLEY CRUE!!!!!!!!!! FUCK METALLICA!!

  • QUE GUAPOTES, PAPASITOS TODOS UNOS MUÑECOS, SI LOS HUBIERA VISTO ASI Y CANTANDO ESAS CACIONES, NO SE QUE HUBIERA SIDO DE MI*** I LOVE MOTLEY CRUE FOREVER**

  • Its called lipsyncing..Motley Crue never sounded this good.LOL But it's still rocks because they looked so bad back then. It's rock n Roll!!!

  • One of my favorite Heavy Metal Bands since the 80's

  • amazing, hermosos i love motley cure

  • look at how much PASSION these guys had back in the day! I still like them now... as a matter of fact, I've seen them in concert a few times (and paid $300 bucks for a ticket) but to see them live like this would have been fucking spectacular, even if it was lip synced.

  • at 29 secs when he says "she moves like a cat", you can see he is lip synching. Besides Vince does not sound this good live...

  • Esta es la mejor epoca de Motley Crue!!

  • Crue lip synch

  • probably a playback

  • Motley will never be this cool ever again.

  • BEST LIP SINGERS IN THE WORLD!~~!!!!!!!!~~!!!!

  • THE CRÜE

THE TRUE AYATOLLAH OF ROCK & ROLL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

  • Amazing!!!

  • lmao@tommy...Tommy the cocaine fueled cat,fuck yeah1

  • Hahahaha,they probably did.

  • Fuckin' Love Vince in this...forgot how cool he used to be. But WTF? did they just crash a nerdy new-wave party? I'll bet they all converted to metal after this!

  • This is the best Motley era! I'm a long time fan, but SHOUT was n still is my best Motley record.

  • it was 1983... everything on tv was lip sync'd back then.

  • man, they sounded so good ;D

  • Ha! I Remember Watching This As A Kid !

  • @rachkat Don't get me wrong. Motley Crue is one of the best bands in metal. (I've seen them 4 times and Vince sounds pretty good live). I just get mad when I see bands that do these types of shows have to lip sync due to what ever reason there is. I think viewers want to hear how they sound live. I work in T.V. and know that producers want everything to be perfect, but that isn't really a reality is it?After reading their book The Dirt, I'm just amazed that they had Vince do it.

  • Comment removed

  • Sad that they didn't live up to their perceived persona's about being such hard asses. If they would have, they never would have done this show with Vince having to lip sync. They crucified Milli Vinilli for doing the same thing.

  • Where can this be downloaded? Anyone know? I must have it!

  • vince is lip synching , naughty , naughty.

  • @misspunkchick18

It was the '80s. TV shows generally forced bands to lip synch because it was easier to control the audio.

  • @xRazorFistx yeah suppose that makes sense.

  • everyone in the crowd looks nice and dressed up theres motley all sleazy. how we love the crue haha

  • sounds 100% like the album and it even fades out like the album. vinces voice never sounds that good live.

  • This is sweet, even though it is not really live!!!!

  • the whole band is milli vanilli ing it!!!! this is the album version...lol.

  • Stockholm next week, hell yeah!!!

  • Ranking Motley albums:

    1. Feelgood 2. Shout 3. SOLA 4. Too Fast 5. Girls Girls Girls 6. Theater 7. Motley Crue 8. New Tattoo 9. Generation Swine

I know musically that the critics would rank their self-titled and New Tattoo albums over Theater and GGG, but Motley Crue is with Vince and Tommy, and albums without them just aren't Motley Crue, IMO...so that is why I ranked them as I did...I also deliberately did NOT rank the compilation albums or Live albums as they are all the same stuff.

  • I also should note that those compilation albums included and produced some bonus kickass tunes as well ( i.e. Primal Scream, from D.o.D. ) - all the albums including the self-titled and Tattoo (much respect to John Corabi and the late Randy Castillo for their efforts) albums had something to offer and I have tunes I like from them all - I am a big-time Cruehead, and always will be - I always support them.

    Long live Motley!

  • Look how skinny Vince Neil used to be! He has not aged well . . .

  • @alphadork1

If you think Vince is bad, what abotu Mick Mars? The guy's hips are so destroyed that he cant even walk on stage anymore.

  • @alphadork1 I don't think so. Vince has got ok body. But T-Bone was really skinny

  • wut a lame ass crowd!!! WTF? This is the fucking CRUE man!!!!

  • THIS WAS A TV SHOW. ALL BANDS HAD TO LIP SYNCH. This particular show didn't have the technology at the time for live performances, all bands performed to tape...And yes, Vince was one heck of a frontman. If you think he has no vocals, try singing Shout at the Devil or any major Crue classic and come back to me. Vince Neil has some of the toughest and rawest vocals ever, which is what gives Motley that signature sound and that punk/raw edge that 99% of the other bands of their genre lacked.

  • @filter69relic Hey man, I def got the chops to sound like VN in the early 80's. You are right though, it is a very tough sound to imitate, it's just so happens to be my natural singing voice.. I am trying to put a MC tribute band together right now. Hopefully I will be posting some vids of some of our rehearsals soon.Rock on!

  • lipsyncing much?

  • yea this is a lip-sych, various screw ups!

Who cares, sometimes your venue sucks and you just pop in the DAT!

  • This was taped in Germany, or somewhere in Europe, right? Crue might have lip-synced and the audience started out pretty lame, but by the end of the song, that audience was THEIRS! I came late to all this and I like Crue any time, but there is something kick-ass subversive about them during this part of their career. I mean, they were pedal to the metal fasten your seat belts try to hang on if you can rocknroll KILLERS!!!

  • lipsink

  • playback

  • thats a tight present

  • Jesus H Christ!!! Where'd they get that fucked up crowd from? Somebody must have went next door and stole them from American Fagstand!!! How embarassing!!

  • it was bro, it was.........

  • Fuck that would have been an awesome time for metal, thanks for this gold \m/

  • ha ha I love this shit... CRUE ROCKS!!!!

  • LOL @ fake audience clapping along to the beat. Too bad the show didn't let them bring in some of their some real fans.

Good visual performance by the guys. Shame they weren't miced in. I bet it would have sounded better than the recording that was playing.

  • hey slayer666qc, they always lipsing on tv.

expecially on top of the pops

  • haha funny to see vince neil without all the LARD

  • i crap myself i always hear this!

  • THIS DEFINATELY THE BEST motley crue era ,they lived up to their name.Vince looked awesomely brutal with his chains, leather & studs bleached blonde mane FULL of attitude & SEX.Early CRUE won me with their dirty sleezie hard edged metal with great lyrics & memorable MICK MARS RIFFFS.CRUE no doubt help start the storm that raged in L.A. through out the magical 80's.FUCKIN" lets make a TOAST to the LEGENDS ,BOTTOMS UP!!!!

  • @madometal In concert they sure were awesome. I saw them in March 1984 when they opened for Ozzy. It was Shout at the Devil Tour,.

  • @bj616 I heard THAT tour was a MADHOUSE! The Crue promoting Shout... and Ozzy promoting Bark...? F**K! Could THAT show have gotten ANY crazier?! I can ONLY imagine how HOT the females were that night! I remember, when I was in junior high, during the days and weeks that followed that show, I had never seen SO MANY rockers-students wearing Ozzy and Crue shirts!

  • It was awesome! I was 19 at the time and the Crue Rocked! That was the 3rd time I had seen Ozzy, but with Crue as an opening act, even better. I still have my Ozzy and Crue Concert shirts hanging in the closet believe it or not.

  • @madometal I agree! In my opinion, the Crue had that genuine ROCKER look/image during the Shout...era! Heck, in my opinion, they even looked great during the Too Fast For Love era! In my opinion, after Shout..., they (kinda') went or got "soft."

  • @madometal HEAR! HEAR!

  • @madometal Vince looked fucking amazing on the SHOUT era...he looked like a demon from another planet!!! Fucking hair was AWESOME....my girlfriend saw this and she was like "Dude, the singers wearing a wig, no doubt!!"

  • @madometal I AGREE, THEY 'RE THE BEST OF LOS ANGELES. CRÜE FOREVER BROTHER!!

  • LIPSING!!!

  • they all lipsink on the tv its comonm rockandroll nature cuz if u dnt u WILL fuck up.......i know 4 a fact

  • It's nothing to do with fucking up, it's just a colossal pain in the ass mixing live tv sound for a band. Typically on this type of program there'll be 4+ bands on, can you imagine all soundchecks if everyone played live???

  • I hear that! I've played at gigs where were multiple acts! Let tell me you can be a night mare at times.

  • @slayer666qc

    Ur an idiot.

  • jajajajajajajajajajaja vey nice.

  • If even 25% of the stories are true, they were probably too stoned to actually play the tune live.

  • this is a lipsing

  • Never seen this one before...luv all the old footage... when they were dangerous.

  • i really dont think this is them playing live i think its a studio version time laps matches as much as i listen to this song i have the right to spit this outusly on micks solos and anyones you usely dont get out what you had in mine mick usely takes and changes speed on this he didnt and on some of his stuff from back then when they played it live it didnt come out the same and this goes for ever band out there im a guitarist and i think im getinng some where with this...long live mick

  • most Live Performances on TV are Play Backs..Tv don't want Fuck Ups!!

  • see guys, as great as they are! even Motley did some lip-sinking back in the day! So dont give little ashley simpson such a hard time. Thank god vince never had a cd skip and have to dance that same jig!

  • Vince Neil was so hot back then--

    now look at him

    oink

  • i don't know if this is possible but...is Vince Neil's hair in this lighter than CC DeVille's in 1986 and '87?

  • playback?

  • umm yup but its they had to do playback cos in almost every ty show u have to put playback, cos tv "can't afford mistakes"

  • Tnx alot for sharing this great clip - just fkn AWESOME this one.

  • This is what Rock N Roll should look like!

  • I agree! Thank God for YouTube! The generation who were born during the 80s and post-80s should TAKE NOTE!

  • This was the first Crue song I ever heard..

One of their best songs ever.

The descending riff from 1:54 to 2:00 and again at 3:31 to 3:37 makes the song imo..

  • Rare one indeed - I remember taping this show on VHS - If my memory serves me right they came back out at the end of the show and played Live Wire - don't believe they finished it before the credits started rolling though. To anyone that doesn't understand the lip synch - this was the norm - unusual was the live performance on TV. Makes me want to pull out the old Circus magazine....

  • Is vince lip singing?, because he sounds just like the studio version, and we all know he can't sing very well live.

  • Yes,he is.But he sang a hole lot better live back in 83 than he does now.

  • @spazeman69 i think its just digatly remasterd

  • @spazeman69 heh... Vince never sang very well live.

  • @spazeman69 How does lip singing work? Is it just the singer or the instruments too?

  • yes, is vince .....when hi was young...he can sang very well in live.....with the time he lost his voice.....but that dosnt metter...motley crue is very cool....know and ever....

  • yes, is vince .....when he was young...he can sang very well in live.....with the time he lost his voice.....but that dosnt metter...motley crue is very cool....know and ever....

  • @Lornesixxwolf Because of he drinks a lot of alcohol but however he sings very well always!!

  • @stevenauringer He always sings very well!! Fuck off!!

  • @stevenauringer nope. that was live. vince was just at the top of his game then during shout at the devil.

  • @stevenauringer He is here, but I saw them on the "Theatre of Pain" Tour and he, well they, sounded great.

  • @stevenauringer it's lip singing no doubt

  • @stevenauringer

Recently this was discussed on sixx sense. He brought up the fact that this was filmed at 8am and they were still hammered from the night before, he was implying it was synced

  • @drfeelgoodTO yah i remember hearing about that on sixxsense too

  • so awesome mick looks so awesome and nikkis base playing..just awesome

  • Mötley Crüe are just awesome. They're real rockstars.

  • vince looks like he's gonna go fight a dragon or something :D

    fucking awesome

  • I'd fuck all of them!!!!!!!

  • I love the outfits, spetially nikkis he roooooooocks

  • Ok, I remember this show. It was hosted by Bowzer of Sha Na Na fame.

  • tomorrow i will see them for 2nd time :D

  • Fuck yeah!! The Crue for life!!!

  • yeah...soo wats ur point??

  • it was franks last performance before his car accident

  • I luv Motley Crue so much.

I am in love with Nikki & Tommy! Bad Asses

Vince & Mick are awesome too.

  • Where do they find these fuckin people in the audience? I'ts like someone went over and borrowed the American Bandstand group. Sad. Now if we would have been there it would have been a Crue show. Nikki is a fuckin genius!!

  • No shit starnscot looks like attack of the preppies.

    Certainly not authentic crue fans

  • PLAYBACK!!!!!!!!!! That sucks, sucks, SUCKS!!!!

  • Vince's hair was really long here

  • I miss his long hair........:(

  • Why are they lipsyncing in this video? lol

  • warlocks they are

  • you dip shits with the guitar comments, there both playing BC RICH Warlocks

  • good good video congtratulations and thaks

  • Oh im sorry then.. But if i look very good to the headstock of Mick Mars, I think its a Gibson but the body is like an BC Rich right..

  • im not talking about what guitars are being used here, im talking about in general.

those ridiculous, spiky bcrich things arent very rock'n'roll. a thunderbird and les paul, however, are

  • yeh and assholes like you make them corny

  • ?????

  • But they don't play Rock n' Roll, they play glam/pop metal. And BC Rich guitars were pretty much one of the standards for glam guitarists at the time.

PS: Mick Mars DID use Les Pauls and Nikki Sixx currently uses custom made Thunderbirds.

  • this is what mötley is all about the way vince moves the crord with the small stage i love this clip any more rare crüe let me know

  • the first 3 Motley Albums are the best, and the Corabi Album, theres only a few songs off of Girls and DrFeelgood I like.

  • Fuckin Rare indeed

  • haha Vince is lip syncing

  • theyre all syncing dude, its playback

  • oh yeah that's rare, tnx for posting it dude

  • I saw them in 84 when i was 11 1/2...

  • 1983 Rocked ! Shit like this just isn't done anywhere anymore.

  • we got some kickass glam/hair metal bands in sweden ;)but against motley their nothing ^^

  • Sweden sucks, swedish sucks, their music totaly sucks.Mötley Crüe forever!

  • Really how American of you, diss a whole country you've most likely never been to and make sure everyone know's your right.

  • Look at your own comment...You make no sense.

  • why playback =/ didn't think the crue did that shit

  • Dude it's a TV show. EVERYBODY "did that shit" in the early 80's especially.

  • That's the only way it would come out at the same time as the video.. Every single video you see on MTV is lipsynced...Since forever.

  • Yeah its so obvious its been lip synced

  • what guitar did mick use for the shout at the devil album??????????

  • either that warlock, a les paul or a star shaped guitar of some sort, can't remember the name

  • Charvel Star, I believe

  • there is only one guitar, and one bass guitar that you need to be a rock star, and they are both gibson.

gibson les paul guitar, and gibson thunderbird bass.

    although thunderbird guitar is shite.

  • dude,, they more lool like BC Rich..

  • im not saying thats what they are using here, im just saying that if you want to be a cool looking rock star, these are the guitars to go with. both for playability, sound and of course, looks.

check out very early motley vids, from the clubs, and thats mostly what they played. they changed to the ridiculous guitars that fit the era of shout, with spikes and shit, but they les paul and thunderbird are still the kings of rock and roll
