In 1979 the Iranians overthew our dictator and took US hostages as payback for 1953. The US then proceeded to help Saddam Hussein in the Iran- Iraq war back in the early 80s.

Kinda sucks - in most videos I see of fighting in afghan the US soldiers are shooting far beyond the effective range of their rifles. I'd be shooting too if I thought there was something to shoot at, but it'd mostly just be making noise... which I guess is better than nothing.

In case something does happen, they will need some sort of Defense Weapon. Mainly you will see a side arm, you wont see any guns that the fully Trained Military Men and Women use.

@relentlessoul Nope, AF Security Forces are pretty much the AF version of an Army MP. The chance of you even deploying are slim to none and if you do your job will be to hang around the FOB/COP. If you want to do the job of a Army Infantryman then join the army unless your asking cause you don't want to deploy.

I would suggest doing TACP. just do some research there is alot out there.

@dodik147 Its a tactical trap, the enemy will think its an easy target and take shots, more than likely missing because they dont compensate for bullet drop etc. the soldiers there will snipe them all or call apaches to take care of them, its easier to have them come to you than try to find them when there blending in with the civilians in cities and villages

Kinda sucks - in most videos I see of fighting in afghan the US soldiers are shooting far beyond the effective range of their rifles. I'd be shooting too if I thought there was something to shoot at, but it'd mostly just be making noise... which I guess is better than nothing.

@DrifterRamRod They can, but its limited to who gets it. They have to be trained Obviously. If you watch GMA, or The Today Show in the morning, some of their Journalists will carry side arms. In case something does happen, they will need some sort of Defense Weapon. Mainly you will see a side arm, you wont see any guns that the fully Trained Military Men and Women use.

@logic8368 yeah agreed, and really anyway you look at it, 3rd brigade in general has had a pretty rough time since these war's started (i.e. fallujah, korengal, konar, pech, helmand. nangar, kandahar etc...) but im still glad to say i have made some pretty good friends in 2-2 and 1-26

@relentlessoul Nope, AF Security Forces are pretty much the AF version of an Army MP. The chance of you even deploying are slim to none and if you do your job will be to hang around the FOB/COP. If you want to do the job of a Army Infantryman then join the army unless your asking cause you don't want to deploy.

@relentlessoul if you want to see as much action as army troops but want to go AF don't do security forces. I am currently security forces and you will likely never see any action unless you are with the 820th or get selected to be sent to army ranger school which is hard to get. I would suggest doing TACP. just do some research there is alot out there.
