  • part 2 in the works!

  • @bsnider0031 with viggo??

  • I am so happy for Viggo - great actor - in a new movie playing Dr.Freud.

  • Viggo Mortensen is outstanding. I love his suave yet gritty, dark persona. Favorite Nikolai moment would be that when he dipped the still burning cigarette to his tongue.

Surprisingly, I was not able to focus on his flopping appendage in the bathhouse scene because the ongoing violence just keeps me distracted.

The ending left me hanging, though. Spoilers: I wish I had seen how Semyov ended (was he arrested?), whether Nikolai truly claimed Semyov's position, etc.

  • 1:50 Jesus... I'd be scared out of my skin if a Russian in a black suit did that at me...

  • @RevanDuvalcane you wouldnt have time to be scared, you would already be dead

  • Looks brilliant...

  • This movie was so well acted and such a great story! Lvoe it!

  • Viggo Mortensen was very awesome in this movie

  • seriously, can they show Russians as nice people at least once? It is always either mafia, spy, terrorists and/or war criminals. Just like ANY other countries we have all that, but we also have plenty of nice, honest, hard-working people.

  • @dfcmrf I guess you didn't see the film?

  • @YoungZer0 um, I did.

  • @dfcmrf So you know Viggo's character was working undercover and was actually a good guy? But i completely see your point and i agree. It's like it's the cold war again. Especially in Videogames. Fucking Modern Warfare 2 ... >_>

  • @YoungZer0 I know, I kind of did not want to spoil it for others :) But I guess Viggo character is as "good guy" as Russian can get in Hollywood movies :)

  • @dfcmrf Anyway, i'm still glad they made this movie, since there are so few who are actually about the Russian mob. Viggo's also great. He went completely alone to Russia, just to see how people talk and how different the Russian culture is. He did all this not knowing one Russian word. :D But it payed off. Viggo's performance, character and Russian were all good. He actually did most of his research alone. He was the one who 'discovered' that Russian mob gangster usually have tattoos.

  • @dfcmrf c'mon, it seems like you haven't seen "red heat". D

  • @dfcmrf

At least the Russians in this movie is much better than Runaway Scare

  • @dfcmrf Yes and that's me : ) How do you want the hot dog?

  • Viggo Mortensen was nominated for an Oscar in this film. i love his character here.

  • @EdwardMerriman360: waow, im so happy that russians are not gangsters in generel, that would be scary :p

  • This is such a shit trailer for such a good movie

  • One of my favourite movies of all time, and I hear Dave Cronenberg and Viggo are doing a seqel soon.

  • @TwoNNsB

I'm looking forward the sequel too!

  • @TwoNNsB that explains the hanging ending, eh?

  • ne1 living in theuk and wants to watch this go on bbc iplayer. as it was funded by them they showing it on iplayer. check it out

  • I love this movie, gives a real feel of Russian mobsters. Beside the fantastic story the director collected handsome guys, I could accept both, Николай and Сойка (sorrowfully killed at the beginning) as my husband. :))

  • A definite must see....

  • the mafia is the hardest group of people they dont care who u r how many connections u got they will fuck u up

    1. itailan mafia

    2. Russian mafia

    3. Turkish mafia (The turkish mafia are ruthless mother fuckers they will fucking cut u up like a turkey)

  • @charliecjl

Yes, decent people call them what they are....criminal scum.

  • i remember d day it came out. sep 28 2007... dats also d day i met my first love

  • shit...is no laughing matter.

  • th title makes no sense but great film nd th naked fight scene was funy as shit

  • Are you joking?

Eastern as Russia is in the East of Europe.

Promises as the trafficked girls are promised a new life in wealthy European cities/countries, but they get a life of whoring and misery instead.

    Not what was promised.

  • damn riggers

  • vory zakone 4 ever

  • Comment removed

  • is he seriosly?

  • Why is it that people complain about Russians so much?

  • 1:52 thats sexy

  • Viggo Mortensen. 'Nuff said.

  • oh yea....If Viggo is in it, it is going to be good!! XD

  • Great film!! - Cronenberg & Viggo - what a combo- hope they do some more films! - Viggo always amazing - and D.C. is working on a level here & in "History of...V." that equals and surpasses Hitchcock even - has become a 'mature' master of film! - as much as i enjoy his earlier films, the more realistic he is, the scarier his movies are - and yeah, the fight scene in the russian bath-house will later be recognized as one of the all-time (or the best) greatest fight scenes in movie history!

  • Excellent film

  • This movie is so amazing. The connection between the characters is astounding.

  • the fight scene is one of the best in cinema/movie histroy, personally its the 2nd best fight scene i have ever seen (The first best is when titus pullo is fighting in the gladiator arena in the "rome" series)

  • These are real gangsters! Not 50 cent and his boyscout crew!

  • vory v zakone does not exist anymore, they are ancient history- this movie is good but it does not acurately depict russian mafia at all.

  • They still exist.

    Look on wikipedia.

They've only got bigger and likely don't refer to themselves as "jewel thieves" anymore since their success is staggering.

  • wikipedia is the WORST source regarding this subject, you talk to any knowledgeable russian including myself- they will tell you the thieves world is dead, and russian organized crime is controlled by a people of a completely different background. if you really want to learn about true russian organized crime read any of alexander litvinenkos books including "lubyanka criminal group" and "blowing up russia: the secret plot to bring back kgb terror". the tatoos now are nothing but antiquity.

  • So you are Russian?

Well then, I suppose you have some good points to make, I will read the books you mentioned.

    Thanks for your time.

  • I have recently been interested in Russian organized crime. So I can assume that GTA 4 is not accurate.

  • you know what game is some what accurate about russian mafia? hitman 2: silent assassin, surprisingly enough lol. gta? i played it, i dont know if it is acurate or innacurate, the russian mob in the U.S.A is completely different from the russian mafia in russia, but really its a very enigmatic organization, even i dont know that much and i know more than most people- id say the only people who really know about it are CIA, FSB, all those types.

  • ok thank you

  • Ты написал полную чушь. Не знаешь не пиши.

Пару книжек прочитал, и думаешь уже профессор.

  • @XIPM3 I think Cronenberg understands that the Vor is rather old news. My guess? He included the tattoos not because he wanted to portray the Mafia accuratly, it was to give a sense that these criminals, these recent arrivals to London and the west in general, have ways and codes that are steeped in their own history but with out going in to a massive history lesson and doubling the length of the film. It was a creative choice. That's my guess. It ties in with other symbols in the film too.

  • so is that supposed to be good then

  • @EdwardMerriman360

No these are actors for a BBC drama pretending to be real gangsters. Real gangsters are terrorists and psychopaths. Not glamourous, not cool, not heroes just scum.

  • @cleverfeller Sometimes, but most of the time they do it for money. They break the law and kill for profits. Kind of like savage business men. By the way, no one in this movie is glamorous or a hero.

  • @cleverfeller You disgust me if you think terrorists and psychopaths are gangsters.

I don't see any gangster in blowing people up for religion, or any gangster in killing everyone in my street.

  • @Soophus They're terrorists in that they climb the hierarchy of their little gangs and gain "respect" by spreading terror. Cutting off people's parts, shooting people, beating people, raping people, threatening people. They're psychopaths in that they are even capable of these things and continue to do it. So I would argue that both labels are accurate. That's not to say that all terrorists and psychopaths are gangsters, but that gangsters can certainly embody both descriptions. Get it?

  • @EdwardMerriman360

WE ARE NOT GANGSTERS, WE ARE RUSSIANS ! ;)

  • @EdwardMerriman360 Yeah man, gangsters are awesome. I've seen them on TV and I wanna be just like one.

  • What is the song playing near the end of the trailer?

  • fantastic film!!!!! viggo...nicolai!!!!

  • Fuck u scumbag!U can only fight with women and children!Russians have always kicked shit out of u, so shut the fuck!

  • 250.000 MORE!!!

Why are u not among them my little kavkaz-scumbag? =)

  • typical russian.why cant you just TRY to be human

  • its Russian Mafia why do u think the Russian Mafia is the most feared mafia? hum?

think lil bit before u post such dumb post

  • Actually today the most feared mafia is the Mexican Mafia or Drug Cartels. And if you want to go a step beyond, Colombian Guerrilla.

  • @okodorifuto that is not true. The russian mob is about five time the size of the mexicans, and they are international. The mexicans only deal drugs and go through one or two nations. The russians are worldwide and have access to weapon the mexins and Columbians only dream about. One russian mobster even tried to sell a russian sub to a colombian drug traffiker. The mexicans and colombians are generally afraid of the russians.

  • I was talking about "The most feared" And the Mexican drug cartels and today and by far they are the most feared at least here in Mexico and in the USA. USA is giving money to the Mexican Goverment so they can fight them. "El Cartel del Golfo" and "The zetas" are today the second most brutal and savage criminal organization to tread the US. Al Qaeda being the first one of course.

  • @okodorifuto

They may be the most feared, but hell no are they the most respected. There is no respect left these days. Anyone that has a gun and fires it is a gangster, and the mexiacans do just this. They have no regard for inecent life, if they get in the way, they die.

Sick, but true. No princible, no God, no nothing.

  • @okodorifuto

are u stupid the not even cosa nostra can fcuk wit the RED mafia they r the most ruthless & merciless organization ever n they dont deal only drugs n they r global as bradly said if u can make a profit of it the bratva can get it 4 u.

    вор в законе

  • Yeah kid, whatever.

  • The drug cartels don't count as a "Mafia", actually. The cartels might be the most powerful but that is because they have such strong ties with the horribly corrupt Mexican government. As who is feared for the methods, financial power, and size, then it would be either the Russian Mob or the Yakuza. I only say Yakuza because they have been around for an extremely long time. The Italians are intense too but they're more focused on the money than the murder.

  • hah, chechens are noobs

  • yeah.......right

  • IMO, this is a great great movie and I'd recommend it, expecially for the quality of actors' performances. Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassel are awesome.
