  • It's almost a haunting sound but very distinctive

  • its weird how you here the motor tugging when you land the next gear.

  • beautiful truck...sounds awesome ...wonder how many miles she got

  • good old piggybacks at first a hated um now I love um so much better than a reg forklift

  • SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL

  • How many gears it got?

  • 13spd

  • Fuller Roadranger RTO-9513, it's presumed.

  • I know its a 13spd by the incab video he made.Titled screaming old detroit inside shot.

  • wait,i figured it out lol

  • wtf is a moffett?

  • moffett mounty- a forklift truck that can be mounted on the back of the trailer

  • That off road tired light duty fork lift on the back of his truck.

  • that ole 671's workin! Its gotta be supercharged too!

  • 671 can't be run without supercharger aka blower. there is no such thing as a naturally aspirated 2 stroke detroiter.

There is no intake or exhaust stroke, but the exhaust valves open a few degrees before the piston clears the intake port, and air is forced through the entire cylinder. This is what gives detroiters that 'sighing' sound.

You could add a turbo on top of the blower, some of the 6-53's were sold that way.

  • A mechanically-scavenged (i.e., employs a blower) two-stroke Diesel engine is considered to be "naturally aspirated", vs. the same model which is turbocharged (i.e., 6-71 vs 6-71T). There are MILLIONS of naturally aspirated 2-stroke Detroit Diesels in the world (I own 2 of them). Also, the intake & exhaust strokes are shared with the power & compression events; the "sighing" sound you refer to is the sound of the roots blower.

  • Check again.There is a 6V71n The n mean naturally aspirated

  • @standardloginname they all had that option not just the 6-53, some came with aftercoolers too

  • QUE CHULADA DE CAMION

  • That is a sharp truck! Sounds good on the computer, probably way better in real life.

  • Icky, how do you get the moffett off the truck?

  • ive domne it once before u ened too roll the forks back when its unchained lift up teh forks a lil bit then lean foward and lift the forks again its kidna hard to explain

  • It's a Detroit 6-71N; 426 cubic inches, 240 HP.

  • didn't even notice the sound, too busy looking at how sharp that old binder is..lol.great job ont it.would definately like to see more

  • Sounds tuff

  • If the engine in this truck was a Detroit 6V-92TA 335 hp, would the truck sound any badder than it is already because of the truck's exhaust system?

  • wow i like that sound!

  • People who grew up around the old Detroits probably think the same thing about alot of the newer engines with the way they sound.

  • This is a nice change from those other trucks that all look the same.

  • I don't suck at life because I said a truck's sound isn't the greatest. Guys I wasn't trying to be mean or anything I was just saying, that trucks sounds unusaul. Get over it please.

  • Its a detroit all right, but you are right the sound is a little unusual. Not bad, just... different.

  • yep 6-71 1978 binder

  • sorry 76

  • Nice GMC! Is that an 8500? It sounds like a 6-71, am I right?

  • The truck is an IH Fleetstar 2070A from 1976. But yes, the engine is a 6-71, newly governed to 2,600 rpm.

  • Sounds great to me. Please get some more of this truck. :>)

  • It sounds better than a fucken boeing. And it's more reliable.

  • that is the best way 2 put

  • Sounds like a Detroit to me... I would rather see him put dual straight pipes on it than getting a quiet exhaust.

  • very good did u not read the the title for the video? lol might wanna do that first
