Amazing! So grateful to find this as my band is covering this. You are going to save me so much time and make me so much more confident. Nice work and thank you!!!!
@cubhusker23 There are some tabs for this, but I don't recommend any of them. I learned this song gradually, verse by verse and memorized it. I wish I had made a tab for it, because it was a difficult song to decipher and I'd like to share what I'd learned. If I make some tabs I will share.
You spoke the gospel,JPJ's line are so hard to pull out from the song, this song has been my proverbial rubix cube,Ive heard it played b4 but not nailed like this.SIMPLY WONDERFUL! and the bass aint to shabby either .77 P-BASS?
thanks for the video, it makes it so i can hear the bass a bit extra helping me to work out the kinks of this song, now i can learn it, in all it's complicity.
I thought this was JPJ himself..........absolutely incredible, sir I inspire to be as good as you one day....you inspire me, very acurate, very technical.......amazing!
@lepiesza The reason I had some difficulty learning this song was because some of the bassline was hard to hear clearly and the variations were allways changing. I guess techniquely the song isn't physically hard, but I'd give it a 6 out of 10 for learning all the changing variations.
@lepiesza i think 8... i learnt this bassline with this video and my ears and i can say the variations require a perfect timing... and when you play this song you must have a perfect touch and tone. sorry for my english.
the two bass players that influenced me and changed me from a guitar player to a bass player many years ago were Mel Schacher from GFR and John Paul Jones. Beautiful job, keep 'em coming!!
this tone is just beautify u gotta tell me how you do it i have a jazz so im guessing theres gonna have to be some adjustments but ya, amp setting and anything u can give me would be great
Well, the sound is a combo of recording technique and fresh strings tuned down about 1 1/2 steps. The low tuning for this song really makes the strings sustain well. My recording is done directly into my soundcard with low mid range and med to high low end and med to high high end. Thanks!
John Paul Jones, I think, was a terribly underrated bassists and all around musician. You definitely give this bass line some well deserved credit. Same with your other Zeppelin videos.
Its not physically hard to play, but it took some practice to memorize all the variations in the bassline. Like most J.P. Jones basslines, it has parts that are hard to decipher.
bad assed man can u send me the tabs???

Great bass cover. John Paul Jones deserves more credit. He contributed so much to the Led Zeppelin sound.
