Actually it's better to play Fire Emblem first when you want to get into SRPGs. Of course the one most say to start out with is Blazing Sword for GBA. It's not easy, and it's not too hard either. But you can choose level difficulty. Or another is shadow dragon. They have 5 hard modes lol. Genealogy of Holy war is one of celebrated. Don't play thracia 776 until later! For srpgs starting out you want some not difficult stuff. Otherwise you will be turned off. (Most people aren't hard core.)
I remember playing the ps1 version before buying this game on release day and the lag just makes the game almost unplayable but sadly enough, you kinda get use to it after a while... i like the new additions they put into the game. They could have added a few more things
I can NOT just pick up and play FFT:TWoTL. It's one of those games that you have to be ready to put a decent amount of time in everytime you do pick up and play. No other game has this kind of affect on me. In my opinion, that alone marks FFT as one of the greats!
Why so much complaining about the "slowness" of effects or spells or whatever?? I don't notice anything wrong with the gameplay quality. Which is VERY important, or most important in any video game.

The PSP version is only good for the fact that it added 2 new classes, but other than that this version isn't very good. I love Tactics for the PS1 and it's a shame that this doesn't live up to it. Not to mention the lag is quite annoying and the sound doesn't keep up with the animation when it lags.

@number999999999 Well, one thing I could appreciate about Disgaea over FFT is that Disgaea doesn't take itself as serious. FFT is so heavy in many ways and Disgaea is mostly heavy in game play. Not as emotionally invested as FFT. I can see Disgaea being much more enjoyable in the long run vs. FFT.
Yes, the slow down is that bad for every move that isn't just a standard attack. The music is also worse than it's PSOne counterpart. I LOVE FFT and know it to every detail, it's definitely worse in ways. Though the cutscenes are beautiful
FFT is a superb game with those HD short movies clips , multiple jobs to try out and great story line , but its really too hard at some parts , and you might get start and even need to restart a game account as , during multiple chain bosses , you got to save after a boss and than the next boss come , and if you save and if you fail , you must keep retrying the boss as you cannot get out anymore , unless you save in other files , but still , its too hard i dun reccomend it for begginers =D GG
Wow you were 11 and you passed this game. This game is tough for kids. I renember I having a hard time when I was 12. But I bet you cheated. Im still playing it again. Like you said. Its always good to save on both slots just for emergencies.

You only easily lose your party if you aren't competent enough to make sure they suffer. Same with Disgaea. An element of risk is a bit off putting in a way, I understand that, but its a bit more realistic.
However, it is a lot more well rounded then Disgaea. Disgaea you have one "job class" then you reincarnate into another one. FFT allows you to have two skill sets, a reaction skill, a passive skill and a movement skill, allowing for great customisation.
This is probably the first Strategy rpg anyone should try out first purely because of the work that was invested in this game. It's a great starter because it isn't too long, it has just enough customization for a satisfying battle and unit organizing experience and the story is one of the best you'll see around.
If you find you don't like the game, then I'd try moving up to something like Disgaea, Makai Kingdom or Stella Deus. It's too bad there aren't a slew of SRPGs out there like this one
But if you want to play a game that doesn't require 500 hours just to penetrate the game play, then there are other, equally fulfilling SRPGs. No one should have to spend a lot of time to play a game just to enjoy it. 500 hour + games are a choice, not an obligation. Like I said before, I like FFT but I recognize origin and creation of today's games because of the roots of gaming. I don't retain bias. I like other SRPGs like Stella Deus and Suikoden Tactics also. Every game is good and bad
Disgaea is the same way. Sure there's a high level cap and a shit ton of weapons and skills to learn and such.. but most people don't have time for that these days. Well, yeah I'm an FF fan, but not to the point where I think FF7 or others are the pinnacle of all RPGs... The best RPG series in my opinion was Namco's Tales series. The stories in those games virtually dwarf all FF storylines. FFT is a rare example of having a very deep storyline. There's other RPGs that have much better stories than the FF series
I also liked FF2 music a lot. Probably the most nostalgic of them all. So too was FF3 but everyone and their mother would agree on that also....
This was one of my favorite battles in the game. The fact that I saw Delita again, and as a Holy Knight, surprised the hell outta me. I like how this game unfolded aspects of the story during battle. It also gave players a background on some of the characters. I still think this is a masterpiece. Don't even get me started on the music in the game. The fact that the music was composed and not synthesized was a bonus. Truly a revolutionary game

Actually, yes this game does because without this game, the idea for the ones you like wouldn't exist. It's like someone saying I love rock music and saying AC/DC sucks or that Deep Purple and Black Sabbath didn't contribute to rock evolution. You've still got a lot to learn. You credit original works in order to credit the new. This game and Tactics Ogre were games that enabled SRPGs to exist the way they do. Again, know your roots.
The only issue is if you decide to take T.G Cid in you party, you basically just enabled "God Mode". Outside of him, the game is fine. And FFT has the potential to put in 200+ hours in it if you want. You don't need a level of 10k in order to log in a lot of hours. I managed to beat the game in 40 hours, but I ended up putting in 307 hours just maxing out unitjobs on 11 diff. units for every class, stealing items, collecting weapons, poaching, doing bar jobs, and maxing out all my units levels.
Nah.. this was one of the first games that even allowed games like Jeanne and Disgaea to be born. Tactics Ogre, Ogre Battle.... etc... if you don't respect the roots of the current gen games you play, you probably shouldn't be playing them at all.. It's fine if you don't agree but don't bash predecessors of the current stuff you play.. I wouldn't put 300 hours into a game that has a ridiculously high limit either.. waste of time when there are other good games out there.

first off you retard, FFT came out first for the PS1, Next, FFTA came out, than the FFT WOTL, Than FFTA2.. Ect..., Oh, the game was awsome for the ps1. As for the psp version, Very laggy when ever someone does a spell or something.. very anoying. They also changed the wording and names around.. btw, does the Lag happen to you too?
Trust me this is the psp version. The sound of Judgment blade and shadow blade are diffrent from the usa ps1 war of lions.Plus It lags a bit more on psp and ps1 sound effects are much much better. I prefer the ps1 but the psp has alot of cut scenes and new jobs and extra side battles :D

1 of the things to do to be a dark knight is to kill 20 people right? what if u get a monster on you team and breed them and in each battle u kill 1 or 2 of them off and turn them into crystals or does it only count if u kill the other team
This game does suck on the PSP because of the HORRIBLe slowdown when you do stuff like Gafgarions Shadowblade for example (Night Sword on PS1) it's SO slow!
Glad to see the Japanese version has almost the same slowdown as the US version, at least I'm not getting cheated out of fluid gameplay just because I don't want to import and translate :P

Umm you do realise that this game was origionally for the PSX right? A LONG time ago... before super graphics or whatever. So why should it have awesome graphics? the only good thing about it is it gets massively strong when it gets up lvs, ut it cant use any abilities at all. the only way 2 lv it is to master 2 abilities so to get it to lv 8 in that class u have 2 master 16 other classes o.0
FFT is the same as Vandal Hearts I (in combat play wise) but this is not as hardcore compare to Vandal Hearts II. In Vandal Hearts II though its not a turn base combat style but as you move/attack with your characters the enemy character moves/attacks as well so it takes quiet a bit of brain power to read your enemy movements and anticipate/do ahead of time. Its quiet more interesting then just simply going up 1 guy standing there and letting you wack em with your sword :P
The original was the single best Playstation game ever created, as well as the best game ever made PERIOD, IMHO. The music here sounds like a definate downgrade (quite sad, as the FFT soundtrack is one of the best game soundtracks ever also), but otherwise it still looks like the ever involving, amazing game it always has been.
The game is actually really good cuz it gives you a LOT of diversity with how you can play the game. With time, you can get lvl 99 in the first chapter, or you could finish the game at a level you only get by going through the story. You could use all monks, or all archers, or all spell caster types. w/e. It's really fun ^o^

It's not a big deal to me, I mean, I love the PSP version, it just makes no sense as to why it happens. The PSP should, by all means, be able to handle a PSP port.
Just to tell you. ITS SUPER HARD and it isnt like the previous Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. In here, if 1 of your character dies and isnt revived in 3 of his/her turn, THEY PERMANENTLY disappear. Its more advance and challenging though. Its a godo game. Its worth the money. Merry X-Mas Everyone.

Actually, yes this game does because without this game, the idea for the ones you like wouldn't exist. It's like someone saying I love rock music and saying AC/DC sucks or that Deep Purple and Black Sabbath didn't contribute to rock evolution. You've still got a lot to learn. You credit original works in order to credit the new. This game and Tactics Ogre were games that enabled SRPGs to exist the way they do. Again, know your roots.

The only issue is if you decide to take T.G Cid in you party, you basically just enabled "God Mode". Outside of him, the game is fine. And FFT has the potential to put in 200+ hours in it if you want. You don't need a level of 10k in order to log in a lot of hours. I managed to beat the game in 40 hours, but I ended up putting in 307 hours just maxing out unitjobs on 11 diff. units for every class, stealing items, collecting weapons, poaching, doing bar jobs, and maxing out all my units levels.

Nah.. this was one of the first games that even allowed games like Jeanne and Disgaea to be born. Tactics Ogre, Ogre Battle.... etc... if you don't respect the roots of the current gen games you play, you probably shouldn't be playing them at all.. It's fine if you don't agree but don't bash predecessors of the current stuff you play.. I wouldn't put 300 hours into a game that has a ridiculously high limit either.. waste of time when there are other good games out there.

Trust me this is the psp version. The sound of Judgment blade and shadow blade are diffrent from the usa ps1 war of lions.Plus It lags a bit more on psp and ps1 sound effects are much much better. I prefer the ps1 but the psp has alot of cut scenes and new jobs and extra side battles :D

This game does suck on the PSP because of the HORRIBLe slowdown when you do stuff like Gafgarions Shadowblade for example (Night Sword on PS1) it's SO slow!

Umm you do realise that this game was origionally for the PSX right? A LONG time ago... before super graphics or whatever. So why should it have awesome graphics? They're not going to redo a whole game just to have moderately better graphics than the origional... This game had GREAT graphics for it's time.

the only good thing about it is it gets massively strong when it gets up lvs, ut it cant use any abilities at all. the only way 2 lv it is to master 2 abilities so to get it to lv 8 in that class u have 2 master 16 other classes o.0

If you've played FF Tactics Advance on the GBA, this is way more hardcore than that.
And if you haven't, expect a game much deeper and more challenging than any FF you've played. It is, after all, a squad tactics game.

FFT is the same as Vandal Hearts I (in combat play wise) but this is not as hardcore compare to Vandal Hearts II. In Vandal Hearts II though its not a turn base combat style but as you move/attack with your characters the enemy character moves/attacks as well so it takes quiet a bit of brain power to read your enemy movements and anticipate/do ahead of time. Its quiet more interesting then just simply going up 1 guy standing there and letting you wack em with your sword :P

The original was the single best Playstation game ever created, as well as the best game ever made PERIOD, IMHO. The music here sounds like a definate downgrade (quite sad, as the FFT soundtrack is one of the best game soundtracks ever also), but otherwise it still looks like the ever involving, amazing game it always has been.

The game is actually really good cuz it gives you a LOT of diversity with how you can play the game. With time, you can get lvl 99 in the first chapter, or you could finish the game at a level you only get by going through the story. You could use all monks, or all archers, or all spell caster types. w/e. It's really fun ^o^

Just to tell you. ITS SUPER HARD and it isnt like the previous Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. In here, if 1 of your character dies and isnt revived in 3 of his/her turn, THEY PERMANENTLY disappear. Its more advance and challenging though. Its a godo game. Its worth the money. Merry X-Mas Everyone.
