Have any of you noticed that their are no comments about schools closing across the Country? The tax payers don't give a damn about their child's education enough to speak out, and find ways to become CURRENCY CREATIVE!! Why won't the parents GET OFF THEIR ASSES AND PETITION THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S NOT JUST THE EDUCATORS JOB AT RISK, IT'S THE EDUCATION OF THE NATIONS LEADERS OF TOMORROW THAT'S AT RISK, KEEP EDUCATION ALIVE OR THE NATION WILL BECOME A NATION OF LIBERAL IDIOTS !!!!
As a Libertarian, I do not believe that a self-made individual who succeeds on his own steam without any handouts from the State, who THINKS about the consequences of his actions before he makes decisions--actions such as having children you cannot afford to educate--such an industrious person should not be "blackmailed" into paying for other people's children because they didn't bother to think about the consequences of reproduction. Private school. All day. Every day.
The problem is not just funding. It is the lack of mentoring/advising and poor parenting that produces the negative outcomes that we see with many of the urban public school children. However, I think that the inner city schools do need the extra dollars. The question that remains is where the money should be spent. CPS would do well to invest in more tutors, quality teachers, counselors, and supportive programming for students, as this is what they lack.
This is my school as well. African-Americans really don't get it. New Trier certaintly has good funding, but Evanston and Oak Park spend far more and get poorer results. What we need is school choice, which will allow for more inovation. School choice is something that is strongly supported by almost all Republicans, but Democrats, who African-Americans continually support are against this. Also, Chicago spends more than Naperville per student, but Naperville is considered to be among the best.
