  • From a kid to grown up every one drinks cow's milk .. just like a infant from Mother ... this is reason why India worships and treats Cow like pet animal and not as for slaughter. The great King Buddha left his kingdom just because he saw a bird hit by hunter and it fell before its feet. No religion encourages non vegetarian ... i am not saying to stop ... but reduce it and do not make it staple food. Have mercy to wards animals .. you wont be awarded .. you are responsible for not killing it

  • I bet that duding a killing and pretty much got off scott free.

  • looks like the Gefen stuff is good.

  • that's just sad that Emes was not honest enough to tell the truth. they make a kosher geletan which is good for people who don't want to eat pork, but they are not vegan so they don't mind if the marshmallows have animal products in them. 'kosher' and 'vegan' are obviously not the same....

  • That's why I never eat gelatin, unless it has alcohol in it.

  • it's the principal of the matter why be vegan and then eat something that looks like it's from the real thing why would you want to even eat something that most non-vegans eat its the principal of the matter! i'm talking about the whole conversation about the fake burgers.

  • Who cares what it looks or tastes like? Most people who are vegan choose it for ethical reasons that have nothing to do with look or taste or consistency/texture.

  • i'm saying it looks like you have killed a cow and eating it, even though it's fake meat why would a vegan want to eat something that looks like something they are against which is killing animals for food. why eat a veggie burger when normally a burger is a dead cow, and eating a cow or any meat like that is against the vegan belief.

  • and I'm saying what it looks like has no actual value for any sane person. It doesn't matter if it looks like a dead cow, as long as it isn't an actual dead cow. Also, for many veg*ns, things like veggie burgers are mostly used as transitional foods, or to help blend in with omnivores (i.e. taking veggie burgers to the barbecue so you can eat hamburgers, or getting a veggie burger at burger king so everyone else can get what they want and you don't impose on them).

  • why dont they tell the truth. dont they really give a damn about us? lousy cheapskates

  • I'm astonished, I'm 16, and have been vegan all my life, and my mom uses Emes all the time. That sucks. But now I'm really hungry for a sweet and Sara chocolate covered marshmellow. Haha.

  • Can u b sure that test is reliable? Maybe the Emis(or whatever its called) is so similair to the animal based alternative that it shares even simlair chemical properties that prevent it from geling

  • Why the hell do you need to eat marshmallows?? Or fuckin' fake burgers that taste of meat? Or fake cheese? Or fake cream?

You wanna be a vegan? Eat beans! Veggies! Tofu! Proper food!

If you are a real vegan you're not gonna want to go anywhere near this processed shit, like all the other processed shit you buy in the vegan food stores. If you do, then don't complain that you've been cheated, because YOU WERE AN IDIOT in the first place for buying this rubbish!

  • Totally AGREE with gggbabe!!!!

  • There is such a thing as enjoyment of life gggbabe. Not everything people do in life is a "need". Comedy, holidays, relaxing in the sun, holding the hand of someone you love - all things that aren't need but we do because it makes life happier in the time we have here. Just because some people don't wish to have another living creature in pain or suffering doesn't mean these people don't deserve to have pleasure in their life in the form of taste.

  • "Comedy, holidays, relaxing in the sun, holding the hand of someone you love", yes, but i wouldn't call synthetic shitty food like fake marshmallows 'a pleasure in the form of taste'. personally, i think a nice bit of houmous and dolmades taste a MILLION times better than this sugary, processed shit. i guess you're from america, and addicted to junk food, right?

  • monsieurparamour actually no I can't eat processed food or junk at all. I love hummus too. The sweets I usually eat are raw fruit. I don't tell anyone how or what to eat, it's their choice. Saying that people SHOULD only eat beans for their entire life (gggbabe post) absolutely nothing else for entire existence is closed minded :) The purpose of vegan is compassion. If some people want to eat junk once in a while what does it matter? it doesn't make them any less a "real vegan"

  • We dont all care about being healthy. Some of us only care about not being responsible for suffering but still love the taste of unhealthy foods. I still think we are as u say 'real' vegan its just that we are only 'real ethical vegans' whereas I would consider u to be a 'real ethical+healthy vegan'.

  • it's not about being healthy or otherwise, it's about what tastes good. processed, over-refined food tastes like shit, quite apart from being unhealthy. give me strawberries and syrup, arrabbiata pasta, houmous and dolmades, baked aubergines, rice stufed peppers, and so on and so forth... they taste wonderful, they are healthy, and they don't cause any animal suffering.

who needs fake burgers and marshmallows?

  • But so many processed junk food does taste really good tho I admit some of the naturals youve listed sound quite apetizing too. I admit fake burgers are not that great. But your still missing out I think if you shun lollies and fries.

  • oh don't get me wrong, i love fries, i don't care if they're fatty, i just eat them in moderation. but you see, they were always vegan food, they're genuine food, not some kind of vegan version of something animal. lots of vegans never cook REAL food, they survive on ready made meals they get from the vegan stores, and that stuff is full of additives, salt and preservatives (plus it tastes horrible).

a recipe for poor health and malnutrition, which is ironic cos thet think they're being healthy!

  • YEah that is unhealthy I guess. Vegan imitations of non-vegan foods are ussually pretty nasty actually. I think some off newbie's crave the burgers and things we enjoyed b4 going vegan so we try to replace them them, but we might as well eat rice-stuffed peppers than a fake burger that tastes like plastic

  • flippin liars, i hope sweet and sarah becomes super successful.

  • Do harm onto others and it will come back at you. No wonder there's so many wars and violence in the world, when people like you think it's funny to be hypocritical and mocking towards others who are different than you- it always starts with small things and escalates...

  • refering to ninpo2006

  • You are an idiot. Wars are always over money. As to the violence I am not too concerned about a vegetarian making threats to me.

  • Sweet and Sara Marshmallows are SOOO good. Geffen is a good brand, btw, my friend contacted the company and the gels are vegan :) I bet the Geffen company didn't want to lend it's product to another product, that's why she couldn't use them.

  • Well bwworld I don't know. Maybe because Geffen veggie gel isn't for vegans. She wanted to created a vegan marshmellow. I applaud her for conquering her goal.

  • Excellent story! I grew up eating Emes products... All of the Adventist families that I knew used this company's products as well. I guess there's a lot of vegan Adventists who for so many years weren't vegan after all. *sigh* What a betrayal to such an awesome loyal customer base. Thanks for the post!

  • i would say that they were still vegan, because they were told that what they were eating was vegan. veganism is not about perfection, rather trying their hardest to not use animal products

  • Very informative, thanx

  • yay there actually is a marshmallow that vegans and vegetarians can eat!...

    how do i get them?

  • veganessentials(dot)com is one online store that carries them, but there are several others. I think they are pretty darn good. :-)

  • i want some!!! do any stores carry them, or do you have to order them?

  • Why didn't they simply switch to the Geffen veggie gel?

  • That's what I'm wondering...?

  • Thumbs up !!!

  • I want Sweet and Sara marshmallows!

lol, those do sound good though.

  • neither is jelly, haribo, some yoghouts (example, muller) + more. Grr, I don't think we get sweet + sara marshmellows in the uk. How could them people be so dishonest about their product, the ones that made the gel?

  • Sweet & Sara marshmallows are amazing!

  • Its so frustrating everything has trace meat in it . It should be labeled i got one of those hostess apple pies awhile ago and something said read the label before you bite it and sure enough there was beef in it .What the hell is beef doing in apple pie ?!?!?

  • Apple pie with that it! I was just about to eat a biscuit with a coffee and had not newspaper to read, so I just read the packet - and gound they hate gelatine AND other animal traces in. grrrrrrrrrr.

  • Just goes to show how kosher is a fraud. Nothing religous or ethical about it, just a money making racket. Typical.

  • I agree but this product would probably have been safe for Jewish people who still eat meat unless they lied about it being kosher too.

  • no because they can't mix meat with milk so they would have eaten this after dairy thinking it was kosher neutral

  • well, SOME kosher...

  • Probably not kosher AT ALL considering the near certainty that the gelatin is partially from pigs, but at the very least not kosher parave.

  • I didn't see any kosher certification on the label, just kosher in the name which means nothing.. like kosher hot dogs from costco, kosher in name only.

  • There's a label on the side claiming that there were no animal products involved in the making.

  • ming is amazing looking

  • are we kidding? the USDA is sending billions of gimpy cows to slaughter for the MEat industry..... Did we really think they'd be concerned over a little pufffy marshmallow? For health & heart - GO VEGAN!

  • There is a gelatin that is not made from animals. It is made from seaweed. I think a lot of people know this; it's called agar-agar. It's been around for a very, very long time -- an alternative for vegans. I don't know about the marshmallows. :)

  • There is also pectin which is sugar the cells of a plant produce for the cells in plants to stick together. Berries (cranberries are known to have a high concentration of it) contain pectin in high concentration and pectin is used in most jams and spreads but I don't know about marshmallows,

  • yeah, I have heard of that. Just can't find it any where!

  • what a terrible suffering^^

  • Wow.

    That's absolutely disgusting.

I would've gone fucking crazy if that happened to me.

    Jesus.

  • for real, that's so frustrating.

  • The real problem is the FDA!! Just because it's a small company they don't want to spend their money!!! Is not the companies fault is the FDA for not testing it!

  • When a company claims something that is not true it is their fault. Granted the FDA should have caught it, but Emes should never have lied.

  • true that!!

  • geletin is made out of cows stomach

  • marshmallow is made out of pigs feet

  • no its not. its the geletin which has animal bones in it. just think geletin skeleton

    peace&love

    courtney

  • Apparently you don't know about vegetarianism or veganism.

  • I am vegetarian. They use parts from animals in most marshmellows! vegetarians dont believe in killing a harmless aninmal and eating it! and taking away its life so sick humans can have 10 minutes of juicy, bloody pleasure.

  • koollkatt1, did you really say above:

"It's a cruel world and I hate it."

Well, why don't you just leave it then!!!

    ROFLMAO, what an Emo...noob....retard!!

  • What is this movie about sardonic rex?

  • those bastards!!

  • well unless she used plain white sugar-then she's using powered animal bones. lol

  • Excuse me?

  • The girl who made the vegan marshmallows-if she used white sugar rather than the brown natural organic sugar, then she used powdered animal bones. They use bones to bleach the sugar, making it white. Look it up. :)

  • I am vegetarian, and that is the truth about white sugar.

  • I'm vegetarian too. I was just saying, the marshmallows arent completely animal free if they have white sugar in them, due to white sugar containing powdered animal bones.

  • how can they get away with that?

  • Just like how they get away with everything they do to animals. It's a cruel world and I hate it.

  • Arguing on the internet is like participating in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded!

  • You're retarded for posting something so cliche. We werent arguing.

  • There are ways of making vegan refined sugar, though you're just not going to find it as easily at the grocery store. I believe beet sugar is technically vegan since it is not processed the same way that cane sugar is. The cheaper store brand is probably beet sugar, but don't quote me on that! Just a guess.

  • yes vegetarianism! And also pretty vegetarian ladies, yes!

  • why do you think that's the only reason people chose not to eat meat?

everybody has different reasons, you can't just presumeand judge masses of people because you don't understand their logic or thinking

    ??

  • oh i know but a large number of vegans conducted in my research at school fell into

the following reasons for why they did it. ranking from highest to lowest

    a) religious reasons

    b) animal rights/etc 'humanizing' animal butchery

    c) health

    d) Trend

    taken from about 1000 students.

  • my bad

1000 students from one school and you know everybodys reasoning

    (Y)

even if that was the reason for a large amount of people to stop eating meat, what's the big problem anyway? no one's forcing you to stop eating meat?

  • What the hell? What are you- some 11th grader?

You cant even construct a coherent thought.

  • Nope, I'm actually a 6th grade ADD special needs childe.

  • Alright then, just so we know where we all stand here.

  • there are people they are eating nothing

  • Don't be an imbecile. You can't compare plants to animals.

  • Agreed plus plants dont suffer and dont have feelings and personalitys like animals and plants dont bleed.

  • plants and trees have not yet developed conciousness, idiot

  • Sue does fuckin bastards! :@ (or I kill them) XD

  • I'm so proud that one of the girls kept going strong and developed the vegan marshmallow. I understand why the other girl didn't continue. Such a sad story. Vegan Sweet Marshmallows are pretty good, btw. I'm going to order her brand soon!

  • Thats so sad that they didn't find a person related with the company cause they could have sued em for dollars. Oh well, at least someone made vegan marshmellows

  • I love meat.

  • May i suggest that you then chow down on my vegan sausage.

  • OMG!! Yay! Ive been looking for veggie marshmallows 4 ever! I CAN FINALLY SINK MY TEETH IN SMOORE (Safely knowing no animal was killed in the procsess!) =[] Thx!!!

  • i looked i cannot find the marshmellow

  • I knew Emes was too good to be true.

So glad to hear about the vegan marshmallows and I hope to have them some day.

  • I can't believe that Emes lied to us. Muslim children can't eat Marshmallows or Jello because most of the time animal gelatin comes from a pig. For that reason, we buy "Halal" marshmallows. But I could see myself buying Emes Jello or Marshmallows if I haven't seen this video; it's just so upsetting.

  • Wendy's, McDonald's and Taco Bell have been caught in similar lies.

  • fantastic, good to know it finally happened.

  • In part I, the Whole Foods rep stated they were looking intensely for a vegan marshmallow to sell in their stores. Now that one exists, Whole Foods seems to have backtracked and is just "considering" stocking them on the shelves. What is up with that?

  • Exactly what I was thinking. I'd buy it in Whole Foods if they stocked it.

  • Great vids.

  • Nice Video.

  • You can always subscribe to my videos or check out my favorites.

  • I seriously recommend the Sweet & Sara marshmallows. They're denser than traditional marshmallows, but they're made in all kinds of different flavors and they're really more like chewy little cakes or something. Delicious.

Also, I'm glad that there was no bad-mouthing of vegans in this piece. In fact, they didn't even have to take a time out to explain "wtf a vegan even is". It shows that we're making progress.
