Young canadian prospects go play in the us because they can get an education at the same time as they develop their hockey careers. In canada they would develop faster, but the education sucks cauz they play like 70 games a year compared to the 30 games in the states. In canada the players are forced to study in the bus between games, they have no other time to do it.
Most US fans don't hate Canadians. It's the Canadians who take it so seriously because it's much more ingrained into their culture. There's a perceived NECESSARY superiority and any time it's challenged, feelings are going to get hurt. And, like anything, when people are sensitive about things out loud, other people are going to come along and prod them and make it worse - even if the folks doing the prodding don't care all that much.
Dude, Maybe because this guy is ranked Number #1 in Canada who will be in the NHL one day and at the same time wants a good education? Already with great averages in school, Canadian or not this guys deserves to attend any university he want tbh.
This player is canadian. Why universities in the USA keeps handing out free money/scholarships to canadian hockey players? That's 1 scholarship lost to a deservingly good american hockey-playing kid.
i know a guys who is one of many to play for scholarship in the us. (Union) if any american player wants to go and tryout any coach will say yes, but if you think yo uare going to take a spot away from a kid like turris who got like 130 points in the BCJHL as a 16 year-old, then you probably should just go play in canada and get better.
@MikmaqCarver - probably so that when they say something on youtube, people can understand what they are saying...I had to re-read your comment twice to fully understand what the hell you said. You write like a japanese person speaking english for the first time.

Because if no Canadians went there, NCAA hockey would be terrible.
