  • A wasted bearing would give you the same results, and thats called a test indicator, the 0-1.0 dial type is called a dial idicater.

  • why would I repair instead of buying new? pls answer

  • Thanks. I am studying DTI but had no clue how they work...now I have an idea.

  • The measurement demonstrated in the this video is actually circular runout with the shaft datum reference being the associated bearings.

Straightness would be measured by running the dial indicator parallel to the shaft measuring from the two highest contact areas along that surface length intersecting the axis.

  • @EngEdge Finally someone who knows their GD&T!!! XD

  • could you also not straighten the bent shaft with a press ? Or just easier to replace it ? probably........

  • @fgleich No please dont use a Press that would only make same worse.. on large marine shafts a litte heat is applied followed by cooling with a wet rag. for realignment...

  • Too many spelling mistakes!

  • @rob78888 Feck It it's the 'Youtube Spelling' Police ...RUN !!!!
