@richpin06a I have a 2003 Saturn Vue and My horn works fine, its just that Right now when I press on the airbag to use the horn it wont work but the Horn relay is tied into the airbag assembly, so I when I picked up a used airbag from the junk yard and plugged it in, the horn blew and wouldnt stop until I unlpluged it. What do you think is wrong?
Mister, if you had a PayPal button, I'd send you five bucks! The Chilton's talks about four screws on the back of the steering wheel (but I'm guessing they are looking at a '90s model. I finally had to give up and come surfing.
You should get a medal for public service, my man.
@ProudPrimate I do have some videos with google ads on them that pay me a little. If you want to pay be back just click on them when you see them, thank you in advance.
i recently watched you video on how to remove the headline from an S-series. however in the 3rd generation they have the side curtain airbags. is there anything that should be done differently when removing the headliner from a 3rd generation S- series?
richpin06a, You are the man! Is it true when working on anything related to the air bag, you should disconnect the battery for at least a half an hour?!!!!!! I heard there is some electrical reason to wait for a half an hour!!!!!!
I can't tell you how much time and agony you saved me. I would have never guessed that these goofy retaining clips released the airbag like that. Thanks to you and your SATURNFANS link, I learned about the cruise control install aswell. I would have never known. Got it all installed and ready for a trip to the dealer. I got my mits on a leather wheel with cruise (I love leather). If you are ever near Detroit I owe you a beer. Perhaps we should take up a collection? Much appreciated!!!!!!
Is the air bag removal on a gen 2 about the same as a gen 3? I might have to remove the ignition switch. In you're "ignition switch video", the air bag and steering wheel cover were allready removed before the video began.
The best.....

Great video. I was just about to grab a service manual, but took a shot on Youtube. Nice explanation, and very helpful.
The reason you need to wait after removing power (battery) from the airbag system
is to drain any residual voltage from capacitors, that reside in the air bag
computer.
Even with the battery removed, a capacitor can store energy which may trigger
the airbag if you remove the wrong harness, or short a screw driver against
a live pin to ground.

Some systems were still active after disconnected the power that's why you wait to be on the safe side.

is there a screw on the back of that in addition to the clips?

Also good if you are at the junkyard and need to get a new airbag off a Saturn.

You could have so much more fun with that, a switch, and 12v power source than you ever could with a whoopy cushion.

What would be the reason to replace the air bag?
calhoonie 3 years ago
if the airbag was deployed for whatever reason.
EatMyDust999 3 years ago
The most common reason for removing the air bag is to install a new steering wheel for a cruise control.
