This is from the Charlie Pride Live At Panther Hall album with the legendary Lloyd Green on the pedal steel. Yes, true country. Yes, today's Top 40 is garbage. I'm glad I see your anger every place I go for true country because some day we will take it back.
Where can I get that album? I grew up on the 8 track, but I swear its the one you mentioned. Would love to find a copy. I remember well some of the other songs - Street of Baltimore, Kaw-Liga, Crystal Chandaliers.
@stephen8164 I dont think he really means to, your asking a question like why do i always blink when wind hits my eyes? lol, its the genuine flow of the music and the style he writes in. cant be to bad, sold over 40 million records
Wow! Nothing phony, flashy, or fake about this genuine REAL country song sung by Charlie Pride!! I like it, love it, and want some more of it!! As a real country boy that chopped real cotton in Pickens, Arkansas, I really can relate to this song!!
Move over Brad, Taylor, and all the other so called Country singers....Listen up and let the master teach you a thing or two about what REAL COUNTRY music sounds like and is sung!!!
The Creedence does this song much better

Hi,used to dance to this about 50 years ago,to a group called the Redhills Skiffle Group, down Willeys social club in Exeter.
That must have been one of my early taste of country.
Another song they sung, delving deep into the grey matter, not heard since, started with, the train that I ride is 21 coaches long,
Thanks for the memories.

this was also a big hit for the Beach Boys in 1970, in Europe however, not the U.S. Good harmonies on their version

Never knew Charlie could "get down" like this. Great alteration from an eternal CCR song. Better than the original!
Zoobne2037 3 years ago 4
@Zoobne2037 My friend, this song is a whole heck of a lot older than CCR, if what you are saying is that the CCR version is the original.
