  • I'm familiar with Jesse's work with Gene Clark and Jackson Browne, and also the stuff with John Lennon. Haven't heard any of the other stuff. He was a great natural talent...certainly in my all-time favourite guitarists' list.

  • STARTED DOING A FACEBOOK THING ON HIM THIS MORN. I'[M IN OKC BUT WAS GONE WHEN HE WAS HERE. LOVE TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU OR ANYONE ELSE ABOUT HIM. EASIEST WAY FOR STARTERS IS FACEBOOK BUT WILLING TO TRY MESSAGES ON YOUTUBE WHEN I GET A LITTLE TIME. BARRY BENEFIELD

  • Is there a full version of Natural Anthem on here anywhere?

  • Hi folks. I had the honor of playing rhythm piano (sometimes bass) with Ed off and on in Oklahoma city 1961-1964. T. He asked me to drop out of college and join him at the Fillmore once, but by then I had chickened out on music . Ed was kind, had a big heart, and worked like a dog on his art. He could also turn a phrase or lyric with the best of them. In my opinion, one of Ed's really great solos is the 4-chorus ride he takes on Bacon Fat, recorded with Taj on the album Giant Step (1968).

  • @zincdoc

Thanks for watching the vid. I am sure you treasured the time you spent playing with him, and I am appreciative that you took the time to watch the vid. He truly was a "one of kind" guitar player and musician in general. You can tell from listening to his musical contributions that the music simply oozed out of him. A true original and sorely missed.

P.S. Were you with Conway Twitty's band at that time with Ed?

  • @zincdoc very nice tribute to jed. wanna jam? i got a comp. u gotta comp. lets hear some stuff. lol we can do this as soon as i get paid. lol

  • Damn, we miss you so much!

  • rightouous

  • Thanks...this is cool. Today's music sucks compared to the masters.

  • Very nice tribute. Thank you. The opening solo on Doctor My Eyes gave me goose bumps. What a sound.

  • I'm a huge J E Davis fan, bought all of his solo LPs when they came out. I'm still finding out about many of the other sessions he played on. I'm a guitarist myself, did get to meet Jesse's Mom one time in Oklahoma City, but never got to meet him, or to see him play live. He is missed.

  • I first became familiar with Davis from John Lee Hooker's "Endless Boogie". Fantastic album.

  • I had a crazy memory and looked this up on here to see if anyone would have posted anything and LO and Behold...A friend had this vinyl LP "Ululu" and we enjoyed the hell out of it back when it first came out.....WOW.... I would love to get a CD of that...our favorite songs were..".Sue Me Blues" and "Brown Dirt Cowboy" or something like that......if you would, would you post more especially from that LP....Now I am on a mission to find this music out there some where
