I've been there many times: this kind of 'tidal waves' were very common. As you can see it yourself, the water can't go anywhere.

On the nearby road there were containers with massive loads to form a protecting wall against the waves, protecting the house on the other side of the road, in it's frontyard after the launch, many people with buckets are catching fish!

Can't be sure from this angle, but it looks like the Flinterfury that was launched at Westerbroe, Netherlands, on September 9th, 2007. I found another video shot from the opposite end of that pier that flooded and the vessel looks the same. People at the other end reacted to the launch itself but they blocked the camera's view of the people hit by the wave. Nevertheless, it looks the same.

This video is made at Patje Shipyard in Waterhuizen. Close to the other shipyards in Westerbroek. The date and shipsname are unknown for me. Nowadays this shipyards is not being used anymore for these kind of ships, but more for sections from inshore vessels etc.

In the north of The Netherlands (Groningen) there used to be a lot of shipyard on the embankment of a rather narrow canal leading to the sea. What you see on the video is not an accident but only what happens on the opposit embankment when you launch a ship sideways.
