  • 1:38 - 1:40 has always been a favorite of mine

  • it is 11 pm and i am blasting this on full, repeatedly

  • The natives are such beautiful ppl.

  • @YuhSCREAMAnieex3 This is a hilarious comment.

  • @IzzyPeralta Very true.

  • 0:45-1:30 season's come and seasons go...

  • 1:37-1:40 she's ready for some loving time

  • this movie<3

  • The second movie was trash. This movie was the best and they just HAD to ruin it with the second one >.<

  • @LunaBell08 the second one is more historically accurate. pocahontas and john smith never had a romantic relationship because she was just a child when they met. she actually married john rolf after going to england.

  • @rabidfangirl90 Yes but I'm not looking for historical accuracy. I'm looking for a good kids movie with a great plot, Romeo-Juliet type love, and the fact that they split up my favorite disney couple does not make my happy-list. Pocohontas wasn't a child in this movie for a reason, and it also tells me that their "Love" was just thrown down the drain when the second one came out.

  • @LunaBell08 To be honest... you can't help history. It's rude to not follow the Native history here. It's like saying... oh IDK, something absurd about European history that is entirely UNTRUE completely. Love wasn't thrown down the drain. She thought he was dead. Love doesn't die, but people move on. It seems fine to me. I'm not offended or hurt by the second movie. What happens happens. And she found someone else, it's life.

  • @Elizannchan Its rude to not follow the Native history here? I JUST said Pocahontas wasn't a child for a reason, in which you just said she was in the more historically accurate description. That in itself doesn't follow the Native history here. They made this first movie to have a romance between her and John, and then broke the couple we grew up with in the next movie. It went to waste. This whole story is pretty much untrue. But you have your opinions on the movie. And I have mine.

  • @Elizannchan The native history? You mean the "true story" of Pocohontas? The one that was solely based on the journals ofJohn Smith that were written after he returned to England? There are records that Pocohontas existed, that her father may have held some power within their tribe, though whether he was chief is not certain, and that John Smith met her. There was no conflict like the movie had, and she certainly did not save his live. Smith was known to dramaticize things.

  • @sassyseraphify I'm actually learning about this right now. It is possible her "saving" his life was part of a ritual of adopting him into the tribe.

  • @LunaBell08 they have done that with every movie, cinderella, mermaid, pirates...mulan was okay

  • Will always love that part when she glomps her lobe at the end! I'd always try to do that after I saw it in the movie :)

  • i think Peter Pan portrays native culture much more acurately.

  • @Username50002 I see... what do you know about Native culture then?

  • @Elizannchan I in fact, know nothing about Native culture.

  • :) I love the animation!!

  • As you can probably tell by my username I'm very proud of my native American heritage, even if there's only a fraction of actual Indian blood in me :) anyway, LOVE this movie!!! LOVE Pocahontas!!!

  • this movie use to make me mad that I was born a boring white girl! seriously, i wanna be Pocahontas!

  • It's honestly nice to see civilized discussion in YouTube comments.

    Seriously, it doesn't happen.

    Well done, guys.

  • beautiful

  • I'm British and even I agree that Europe fucked everything up with the rest of the world... Quite frankly, I'm ashamed XD

  • Lacrosse!!!!

  • Okay now all we need is an Italian and African (like one taken place in an African country) Disney Princess :DDD

  • i read about american history and i can say that at least the british people only fight with the native americans for land, but in the south the f*kin spanish slaughtered and enslaved them!!!! all in name of a new Crusade war that never realize!!!!

  • Love love love love love love. <3

  • I don't think I was able to comprehend how gorgeous this song is when I was 8.

  • the girl who tackles the guy coming out of the canoe? that's me. thought i should let y'all know.

  • 3D Pochantas...That'd be epic...

  • @CourtNealM OMG tht would be amazing! Then u could see her hair resist gravity even better *0*

  • why arent the top comments anything about the movie, WTF is wrong with you people watch the clip, enjoy, state your favorite part, and that is it!!! -technology this, and destroyed that shut up and listen that is what musics about... SMDH!

  • i love the art where that one guy is like "hey! <3" and his girl comes and tackle hugs him into the water, now thats true love

  • i love this movie

  • I remember singing this a lot when I was little. xD I had the lyrics book to this movie. :') Good movie, really. I just wish Disney hadn't made the sequel. :'( Everyone in my elementary class that year was so upset when the sequel came out...

  • @Aleer1000 well Actually the lion king 2 was a lot more emotional and dramtaic compared to the first one which made it better.

  • @WiggleTick Screw the 2nd one, the first one was Hamlet

  • @111Wanderlust Exactly, no one's perfect. I always admired the Native Americans, but I know that even they're not perfect. They're human, just like everyone.

  • @111Wanderlust Actually, and I don't know if this was just for the Iroquois or not, the women were treated very well in their society, better than the European women were, that's for sure. Their women held property and could divorce their husbands if need be. The women even had a say in their government. You may not want to be a real Native American but I would gladly become a part of the Iroquois then if I could.

  • @111Wanderlust I've never thought they were peaceful and crap, I mean this is a disney video. The things they did when they wanted to marry a girl o.o not to mention scalping the people they kill. They're obviously not going to show that in a disney film xD

  • Actually there isn't such thing as a 'perfect culture'. But sometimes I like to think that my culture, Hawaiian culture was great before touched by the Europeans. Our people feared laziness, barely fought alot and were very conservative with the land. Though we did have some wars, but that all ended when King Kamehameha conquered all the islands and united them under peaceful ruling. But I would think our only flaw would be our burial system. >_<

  • @111Wanderlust i resent that. sure some tribes did that, but not all. i am a native american and i do feel the need to defend my culture. what your saying isnt exactly COMPLETELY true. granted, i admit we werent the perfect civilization. but we would have continued living the way we did if no one had come over into our land. you never know,

  • @111Wanderlust They weren't bigamists, they don't beat their wives and childent, they didn't went to war often with different tribes, and in essence weren't the same as the Europeans were a thousand years ago, on their way to becoming extinction. It's not sad, and not true. We know they were perfect civilization of peace and harmony and you dont' wish they were. There are ones like that. Nice try troll, but thumbs down and mark as spam.

  • Holy crap, I haven't heard this song in forever. =D

  • Ah, brings me back to my childhood. Haven't taken the time for awhile to sit down and watch some old cartoons. It's a wonderful movie, with a wonderful moral.

  • @mssmokingcatipillar, i know right, its perfectly fine to accuse a white guy of stealing someting but racist to accuse a black guy, fine to call caucasans white but if you call an asian yellow its racist. all the worlds problems arent because of white people guys

  • Ah, yes, blame white people for all of the world's problems. That solves everything. And nobody will call you racist because being prejudiced against caucasians has become socially acceptable in our society. Awesome. -___-

  • damn, i forgot it was only a music segment.

now i want to watch the full movieee

  • @Curogirl, fair point, i was just saying that they didnt live in total peace, i still think that modern civilization has a thong or two to learn from the natives, but they werent a perfect civilization eaither

  • Lucky to be a Native American :) I have always wanted to live like them.

  • @bluedragon49, i agree what europeans did to the natives was bad bit, the natives were the ones who discovered marijuana and cocaine, also tribes were bonstantly battling eachother for controll of land and resourses, how can you say that if we lived like the natives there would be no war when legitly less than 10 seconds after this video ends the powatan claims that the masawomik tribes are defeated. i dont know about anyone else but that kinda sounds like they werent all that they are in your

  • @theJNCsaga You have a point, but honestly, what civilization that EVER lived on the Earth was without war? Don't make it seem like Natives were the ones to invent war and the only ones to practice it. Why did Europeans take over the Americas? Land and resources.

  • @theJNCsaga a bit bad?...do you know what they actually did? :/ its quite sad, because of them theres only so many of us left, and we didn't discover cocaine or weed, and natives didn't battle over land or resources, they battles for reasons i doubt no one actually knows, theres more then one type of native, so they disagreed with things like us, mainly over food, we're not perfect, we fight they fought, nothing much has changed..just more violence and drugs and drinking and war...

  • hryuedhd6ryueyueufjdeyughyutrufyeixyffuifcjcdjuffur4utu7riucfjrufjfufghdfhyhuifhyfhdbhsnjdhjhjfhtuthnhgvjfhtrujvndheugfhuvhyg

  • I'm white. What I'm concerned about now is why the past should matter to us THIS much. What happened happened, we must learn from the mistakes of our forefathers and try to build a better future.

  • @Jabbawocky007 except for no one wants to acknowledge that what they/we did in the past was wrong

  • i want to know is how does Australia fit into everyones theory

  • @bluedragon49 I agree. I'm white and I hate how European history panned out to hurt everyone else. I think Native American culture is beautiful. But your theory is highly flawed. Native American tribes constantly warred with each other.

  • @OwlRock93 thats true that there constantly at war with each other, but they also were idiots, they knew the good and bad things and unlike some people they were wise, they faught because of the difference of thinking between the tribes on who would actually win, and no we didn't use fuckin bow and arrows unless your talking about the western natives, and my theory isn't highy flawed, its a bit incorrect, was a bit mad at the time but, natives are actually peaceful people...well some now, but

  • @OwlRock93 natives do like to fight i do admit that, that was a big flaw back then and still is, but it is true, natives use to own canada, but after the british came we traded things and then sold our lands but for only a amount of time, theres a war going on between them because of the land, which i personally don't think its right, but thats just me, theres only so many of us left now, natives are bitches sometimes but it just us showing backbone i guess what ever the case war isn't the thing

  • being a native american and watching this movie, I'm kinda glad I'm native and that I'm not born another race, I'm not racist I'm just saying that i don't wanna be the bad guy in history >.>...not that there bad now but yea, i guess what I'm saying is that if people lived at peace like the natives, there wouldn't be war, there woulnt be drugs or alcohol and the world would be pollution free :/

  • @bluedragon49 like the natives in this movie*

  • @bluedragon49 Totally agree :] tho we weren't all 100% peaceful but we didn't solve every issue with war so there's ups & downs

  • @bluedragon49 Only one thing wrong with what you said, many tribes were warring tribes. They were constantly fighting with each other. Some like the Black Feet (I think that's right) survived mostly on taking things from other tribes. Really the biggest difference between them and the European tribes was/is that NA have a bigger respect for nature.

  • Will forever be my favorite Disney movie

  • I can't over how incredibly perfect thing piece is. Truly a Disney masterpiece.

  • best hair on that bitch ! WHERE IS YOUR HAIR BRUSH !

  • @tapeonthewall I LOVE JENNA MARBLES 8D XDD

  • my whole world when i was 5

  • pochohantos had sum of da bestest songs!

  • Naturefreak93 would die from the flu or something in less than a year.

  • Naturefreak93 I agree with you

  • Glomp at the end = win

  • honestly. europeans went all over the world and destroyed everything good about the rest of the world. europe fucked over africa & killed the native americans & left them nothing. *sigh* i think i would rather live like how the native americans used to live hundreds of yrs ago instead of with this horribly corrupt government

  • @Naturefreak93 Not corrupt as in the economy. Corrupt as in the stupidity of humanity.

  • @Naturefreak93

Don't forget taking opium to China....>.>

  • @jadeddragon212

    yes indeed

  • @Naturefreak93 I'm a full blood native and tho alot of what happened is bad... you can't make generalizations like that. They may have tried to kill us off but we're a strong nation & without the advancements of many white setters we wouldn't be as strong... and also some tribes we're killed off before the settlers because of wars between tribes. so there's arguments to both sides.

  • @Naturefreak93 omg I always say that time & time again. Being that i am half native indian, i get easily offended with things like this. i also get kinda angry at some ppl saying they love america, which i do too, but i feel like its for the wrong meanings. I mean it was ok for the europeans to take other ppls land but when the natives fight back, they were the victims. & this big deal about the war in Iraq thanking the troops & what are they fighting for . . . other ppl's resources.

  • @YuhSCREAMAnieex3 <----- true. to me its all about oil over there so we don't have to mess up our land

  • @queenofsheba1000 exactly. "america" only fights with the countries that they know can give them resources & if they dnt have what they need, they dnt care about them.

  • @Naturefreak93 Amen to that dude... I cant stand watching this movie and wondering how much life would've been better if we hadn't migrated :( I mean look how we're treating people trying to migrate now? Shooting them down on site at borders. Yeah, we're a great country.

  • @Naturefreak93 And what's worse is that they're fuckery isn't even over yet. When they took over Africa, they grouped all the rival tribes together so they wouldn't ban together and overtake the Europeans. And because of that, there's still wars and genocides going on over there today /:

  • @Naturefreak93 I agree and I'm german. But not everyone in Europe is as corrupted as you might think and I think even before there were people against the things the government did.

  • @alisa39333 Of course there were always people against the government. people came to America at first because they didn't like how the British government was operating. As long as there is someone who is making rules for everyone, there will be people who will be upset.

  • @Naturefreak93 Why don't you go live in the woods then. You would rather live as the native Americans did you still can. Don't be a hypocrite. and stop talking bad about an entire race it really makes you look ignorant.

  • @MrBobbyhill39 um if we go live in the woods we'll get raped and murdered

  • @Naturefreak93 AMEN! mebbe if 2012 happens we can rebuild the world into this again

  • @Naturefreak93 You do realize it wasn't all peace, love, camping and nature with the natives right? The Native's wars were more vicious and bloody than any war the Europeans could've had. People are people, and where there are people there will likely always be war and terrible things.

  • @Troggleboggle

Did I ever say it was peaceful? Yes thank you I know my history I already knew they warred a lot. I also know that Europeans did some pretty brutal things. During the Crusades, Musilms were eaten by crusaders because they weren't seen as human. Also, there's a little someone from Europe named Vlad Tepes (aka Dracula) who did some pretty nasty things to keep invaders away. Little history lesson. But yes, no matter what, where there are people blood shall be shed.

  • I have this song on my ipod I just think its so beautiful although my friends and sisters think I'm weird for listening to it haha

  • mightttt have this on my ipod.... might

  • I'm native American and this movie always made me happy even tho I'm not their tribe I'm Chippewa and Cree but I'm proud of being a Native American it's just awesome

  • Comment removed

  • @TimThinksSo Alan doesn't write the lyrics. He does the score and the music. Stephen Schwartz does the lyrics for this movie.

  • All the people that are talking about how technology complicates things...you wrote your comments on computers.

  • @blahbleeblahboo The internet was the greatest invention to disprove God and spread knowledge. Lets keep the internet alive, even when we reach paradise on earth.

  • @blahbleeblahboo just because we use computer doesnt mean that it doesnt complicate things and the fact is that we dont have the connections we used to person to person.

  • @CrystalMoonShadow On the contrary, I think it is much easier to keep in touch with friends that live across the country, if anything technology make communications much easier. For those that want to be anti social is completely their choice.

  • @blahbleeblahboo That and we wouldn't have this movie. I mean, most animators have degrees in technology....

  • compare this to the native americans in peter pan lol disney got waaay less racist

  • My childhood.

  • i love disney princess movies!!! pixar movies too'!!<3 i love them all! and im 13 all my friends say im being childish for loving them but it's whatever!

  • this movie always made me want to be native american!

  • I miss the old Disney. There was an actual story behind the movies, but now its just poisoning our brains. Pocahontas is one of my favorite movies. I always cry when Cucoum (however you spell it. hey I'm only 12!) died and when John Smith almost got killed, and when John saved Pocahontas's dad. And when John left and Pocahontas said bye in the Native American way. I cry throughout the entire ending, it always gets to me :'( .

  • @craziiecookiezz wait your 12 :O NEWFOUND RESPECT RIGHT HERE!

  • @craziiecookiezz I'm 12 and always remember old Disney or what WAS my childhood. It's just poisoning now. (As you had said before) so I agree!

  • I really wasn't expecting to find someone else like me, excepting Old Disney like we are now..

  • 1:36 aweeee :3

  • This is a vast improvement to the way disney protrays native americans compared to the racial sterotyped ones in Peter Pan.

  • That yell at 1:27 makes this song just that much greater.

  • I love it when the woman just JUMPS on her man. 1:38 That "Oof!" was adorable. X3

  • Face it, our future is screwed :p

  • @dawoopbanana

If you look at your country it isn't so bad, look at the nature how beautiful everything grows...

If everybody could look through my eyes there wouldn't be so much complaining.

  • @Meissiejj141993 indeed, although more wildlife is being destroyed rather than helped, people just shrug at nature, they know nothing of balance consumed by the mainstream media. i wish they could wake up and look around

  • What sucks is that the father of hers you see in the movie let the colonists keep Pocahontas after they kidnapped her.

  • @snufleufugus better than blowing up cities with atomic bombs

  • @icy123abc Nah, we had guns and weapons to do that. :P

  • i love the horns

  • this song is beautiful

  • 1:00 jarring shift of perspective with that fish spear guy

  • i want to live like they used to ;-; seems fun fck amusement parks and shit i want my woods bck!!!!

  • I loved this movie as a kid

and then I walked into an American History class

  • love going to my reservation proud that i have native pride...love this movie!

  • love the language in this song.

  • I would have loved to grow up like this. people are so obsessed with making living easier, that they are making life in general harder. It would be amazing to be able to live at one with nature.

  • @northdragonwolf It wouldn't have actually been this peachy and magical for the Indians as it's shown here. They don't mention the long, hard winters, living off of acorns and whatever small animals they can scrape to keep from starving while the cold and frostbite picks them off one by one, nor the feuds with other tribes and attacks by wild animals.

  • @KingofBionicle True that their lives weren't always so cheery, but it was definitely nothing as bad as Whites and Jews.

  • You people are reading way to far into what @northdragonwolf said. My goodness.

  • @northdragonwolf Yeah, the only work you do is find and grow food. The rest of the time, you spend having fun with your friends and family. Don't worry, let's hope Zeitgeist or the Venus Project will come true so that we may get rid of this monetary system and office jobs.

  • @northdragonwolf so glad i got native in me!!

  • @beautifulXangel13 that's what she said :P

  • @istraraugir lol wateva!

  • @northdragonwolf Livin as "one with nature" is really hard compared to today's life. We are making life easier.

  • i love this song, this is my third favorite from the movie. i love Pocahontas. i also love The Lion King, it was my favorite when i was little. my mom says that when i was really little i loved The Jungle Book, but when The Lion King came out i watched that movie and forgot about the Jungle Book. LONG LIVE DISNEY MAGIC!!!

  • Am I the only one who noticed that they were playing lacrosse?

  • LOL when the girl tackles that one dude.

  • Does any one know what tribe Pocahontas is from and her race?

  • @askAradia

Gonna take a stab at this, but....Powhatan?

  • @Leidern Thanks, I looked it up. I guess you're right!

  • @askAradia From the area known today as Virginia, from the Powhatan tribe (which was named after her father, I think)

  • My favorite movie :D

  • oh how wonderful it would be to live in a time where everyone loves eachother and its a happy life for all

  • @KateFantasizes its going to change hun dont worry :)

  • XD The ending is so fucking funny. "EY!" XDD Rofl that just I say it everytime at the end lol

  • If I ever have children I am making sure they don't grow up without movies like this!

  • Best. song. ever.

  • I played this song as I moved into my new dorm this year and had several people poke their heads in to enjoy the tune. Not to mention we all attempted the cry near the end. Good times.

  • One mission of my life: learn how to do that Indian yell at 1:27

  • @InescapableClarity i practice..............I CAN DO IT.

  • Goosebumps

  • @GuessItsKarma

    waterfall.

  • Me as a little kid singing at the top of my lungs: HAY UP HAYYY UP GUPPY AY HAY YUP GUPPY AY HAY HAY HAY YAHHH!!!! BBBBBBBBBBBBLLLfffff!!!!!!!! :D

  • ....I wish I could make the sound at 1:26

  • This song makes me proud that I am at least part Native American.

  • Thumbs up if you're proud to be Native American or as some people still call them, Indians.

  • I love these style of songs, it gives me the chills. :)

  • Pocahontas taught me to see past skin and differences, Simba taught me that you should learn from your past, not run from it, and of course the circle of life, Belle taught me that its ok to be different, Mulan taught me the definition of honor, Jasmine taught me that sometimes in life you have to make things happen, and voice your opinion, and Woody taught me the definition of friendship: loyalty and fun times.

I really do worry about kids these days without the Classics..
