  • Everyone better fucking come to Dallas on December 10th to watch these guys perform. Coming together for Unsilent Night. Will be amazing.

  • I wish these guys were still together :'(

  • Love love love this song to pieces. Its always been a favorite

  • I'm sorry but, for everyone who keeps saying Cody is no longer Christian, you are wrong. In multiple interviews he has stated that he is christian, he just doesn't force feed it like some of the people you have ran into. As for Mattie Montgomery from For Today, when I met him he was really cool, you must've caught him on a bad night. We are all human to begin with.

  • @halguard If you truly live ACB, you'll learn to spell. Make the fans look somewhat intellectual. Now please, go find a dictionary.

  • Wow haha I just realized I'm in the top comments. A year later and I have this song on repeat again!

  • He's still a Christian, however he doesn't want hawkboy to be labelled Christian because it would limit his creativity by having to write Christian songs

  • FUCK,

the second this started I knew it was perfection.

    <3

  • @halguard if you truely love As Cities Burn, you'd know they broke up two years ago. that "Hell or High Water" was their last CD. and that Cody has a new project called Hawkboy. (:

  • @weibelb11 not to mention codys not a christian any more and T.J. is married nd has two kids

  • @clonetroper68 Not a Christian any more??

  • @BoeckmanOSU yes cody is not a christian anymore

  • @clonetroper68 Where did you hear that?

  • IF YOU TRUELY LOVE ACB YOU WILL COPY AND PASTE THIS ON EVERY SONG YOU KNO THEY DESERV MORE FAME AND WE COULD GET THEM BACK TOGATHER AND MAKE HES AMASEGEING SONGS PLZ?

  • @halguard You can't spell to save your life..

  • @halguard no this is spam lol

  • perfection.

  • i love this song so much humanity needs to be humbled and this is the perfect song for it

  • this made me take a shit

  • @jrama23 is that good...or...bad...ummm

  • Cody is a Christian. He helped out Oh, Sleeper on one song from Son of the Morning. Probably wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't still running with the Lord.

  • @MrTrollinhardcore And the vocalist from For Today, (one of the most asshole Christians I've ever met,) did guest vocals on Winds of Plague's new album, but that doesn't mean he's an atheist.

  • @Razzy123 If you think Matty is an asshole Christian, then you have never met a true asshole Christian. He talked to me about Christianity and nearly made me believe in God. And never once did he look down on me for not believing there is a God. He actually talked to me about it in a mature manner. Go look at the West Borough Baptist Church and see what a real Christian asshole is.

  • @bakerskater11119 That's the way to go about it just answering questions for curious people and treating people like your brother/sister even if they have different beliefs Hey man no matter what you believe we all believe in good music!

  • @Razzy123 That was Winds of Plague allowing him to do that. I doubt Oh, Sleeper would let an atheist do guest vocals on their album. Not saying they are high and mighty or anything, just saying that they would be quite the hypocrites if they let someone who wasn't christian do vocals on an entire christian album.

  • @fightforit10 Dude... Music is music. Christian bands work with non-Christian bands. This isn't hypocrite, this is just being open-minded :/

  • This song is amazing.

  • I love ACB so much, but it's so strange to realize that this album is about his transition from Christianity to Atheism. I took this song from a Christian stand point, but after talking to a friend who worked with Cody, I found out it was actually written from Cody's now Atheist views. It's actually a pretty sad story. I still choose the lyrics to represent my own Christian beliefs, but it's odd knowing that they were written by an atheist.

  • Harry Potter font.

    That is all.

  • lyrics!=amazing..

  • this song is amazing.

this guy band is so talented

  • Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Awesome sound!

  • i sing acb songs in my truck emotionally every time i drive. i love the feeling this music resonates.

  • 1 dislike. No surprise here.

  • @jschristian44 cause of flesh and many things that the world promotes is good to the sin of life and lust of flesh Godly is bad and evil and wordly is good and wonderful its a battle between our flesh we fight it everyday and most of us dont realise that we do.

  • @imatubekid123

trust me i realize i do, its the hardest thing in the world. when i pray for things, it seems like the opposite happens. then when i think, hey, if i pray for these things, maybe praying for them not to happen, then they wont happen. is this wrong. or am i already in hell and i dont even know it.

  • like the dislikers...

    that's a hard thing here :P

  • i Litteraly play this song once a day....

  • Reminds me a little of the New Oceana Stuff.

  • @jeckeljoan DUDE, thats what i was thinking.. haha. but you can actually understand this guy when hes singing (:

  • @misterkool20 haha yeah.

  • @jeckeljoan i agree that song after oceana's 'joy' is great

  • This is an amazing song....I saw the title and was afraid he was gonna sing about a girl, but then I heard the lyrics and just drank it in. Beautiful.

  • i cant get over this song. lyrics are hit the truth

  • this doesnt sound like the album version...

  • ilove this song, its one of my favorites!

i think this song could be about ascension.. about how nowadays its obvious we are created in gods image.. how ego has kept the body of man in the material realm.. we were made too pretty to be just human, we are gods trapped in our petty egos..

  • cody sounds alot like brennan from oceana. trust me, thats a really good thing.

  • @forrestgoesrawr No no no. Cody doesn't sound like Brennan, Brennan sounds like Cody!

  • @forrestgoesrawr maybe brennan sounds like cody ..which is even better ;]

  • the song like lulls you to sleep. Its pretty beutiful

  • There is not one bad song on any album by As Cities Burn. That is fact.

  • damn this band kicks so much ass

    too bad it ended =/

  • This is an all around Beautiful song, I was listening to it on the beach. Just sitting in my chair and watching the waves and thinking about god and just life and everything around me. As Cities Burn is one of my new favorite songs and might be leading me down the road to follow and believe in God. <3

  • @danipapillon3394 that's awesome, let me kno if u have any questions about God ^_^

  • i fell in love wit this band theyre great :D

  • I've had this song on repeat for the past week or so now. It never gets old.

  • @DatzWhatsUp Me too!! almost non stop. This whole cd is amazing.

  • @DatzWhatsUp Me too!! almost non stop. This whole cd is amazing. Cant get enough of "but who's to really say."

  • @DatzWhatsUp lulz same here, it might sound gay but its a good song to play during a good match of cod.

  • one of the most amazing songs ever written hands down.

  • unbelievable song. praise God.

  • 3:43-end, EPIC.

  • Cody is one of the greatest lyricists I've ever had the opportunity to listen to..I feel like even if you aren't so in touch with God or religion you can still take the time to think about and listen to what he's saying because it isn't too intrusive or in your face. He seems like an honest man. He points out his own flaws and relates to the listener very well..he's amazing.

  • Finally someone who isn't a Christan fundamentalist nut case. I love you.

You should read some lyrics from

Aesop Rock, La Dispute, Inhale Exhale.

  • I've listened to some Aesop Rock. Not a lot but enough to know what he's about. I like his stuff. Lyrics are good too. I remember one song in specific where at the end some guy says "To be completely honest Aesop you're a fucking asshole".

Point being I like the lyrics to that one. haha But I'll definitely check out the others you mentioned.

  • @skateorlie He's a good lyricist, to be sure. the lyrics, in say...timothy are amazing. but in this song, they're nothing special. and the whole "christian rock" thing is a huge turn off for me.

  • @987657654321 I tend to focus more on the subtleties behind the lyrics..as with much other things, even in the immediate meaning there is more that contributes to the overall of it..and I definitely understand the whole "christian rock" turnoff. I agree with you but somehow that doesn't affect me when I listen to As Cities Burn. ha

  • @skateorlie I agree, I like how they don't impose anything, I have faith in God and believe in Jesus, but I don't agree with others who 'force feed you' their beliefs. I never impose what I believe in on anyone, I like telling a lot of my life story's and how and why I believe, but won't push it. On that same note, I also tell people I'm not religious, I can't agree with any 'religion' that will wage war ''in the name of ___''. so not everyone who has faith is a 'pusher' , so to speak, lol.

  • true...you can distort a song to your own purpose, but that makes the song meaningless and the poet's useless. They wrote this as a direct song about God and Christianity...not about girls or anything fleeting. They wrote about something bigger than you and I. dont demean their intentions by twisting their heartfelt lyrics to your own purpose.

  • I consider the beauty of music and poetry lies in its ambiguity. Just because the writers intended it for a specific purpose doesn't mean that's the only thing that can be learned. Why restrict inspiration to only one level? To me, the greatest thing about music is that it can mean different things to different people.

  • while this is true, I find it affable how it seems like people who arent Christian like to listen to Christian music by saying it can mean more than what they meant it to...To me, there is no need for a greater or other meaning, the original intent is more powerful than any tacked on one. Maybe alot of non Christians listen to Christian music because they feel something different when they hear it. It instills a feeling that other music doesnt.

  • ahahha , I read this write after writing a comment saying the exact same thing. KUDOS

  • I completely disagree, a song can always be open to interpretation, especially in regard to catharsis, on which is the purpose many songs are written. As a songwriter myself I would never knock a listener for his own interpretation. I would be glad and praise the fact that emotion was evoked by the song period......Besides if acb was only a christian revelation it would have never gone on as long as it did. IMO

  • You don't have to be Christian to enjoy a song by a Christian band. There can be meaning to it outside of a Christian context.

  • @subadfish909 yes but the purpose is about god and some times other things but if the acctual meaning is not accepted they are just twisted and empty words

  • I'm not religious at all , but this song

    has so much passion

and meaning that I'm somehow drawn to it . . .

    it's hard to describe.

    addiction?

or "the word" speaking to me?

    idk , i know i love it.

  • my myspace song .

    i love this<33

    it's beautiful .

  • I <3 it. :}

  • EEK.....hahahaha...if your listening to this, you like it and your reading this...YOU ROCK!!!!!!!

  • Its a christian band you n00berz!

  • I don't know if I'm mistaken, but the message in this song seems to be christian. Hence "If we are the body..." being the body of Christ and then it talks about how we distance ourselves from each other and God.

And "we don't want a god we dno't see in ourselves" addresses the issue of idolatry and creating a god to fit our own preferences...

Tell me what you think and if I'm completely wrong

  • wow great insight. i am often amazed at how a person who does not follow christ understand him better then many who claim to follow him daily. bless you

  • Cody does follow Christ.

  • love it. (: <3

  • As Cities Burn are christian.

    the meaning is:

We were made in Gods image. Therefore we're "pretty".

But we love ourselves more than God and see ourselves prettier than God and don't give him any credit,.

    Were made too pretty

  • Ma ive been trying to figure out this song but i cant! lol. Anybody know what it means?

  • love this song great meaning behind it

" i think we were made too pretty caught up in a stare we can not break"

  • what exactly does this song mean?
