Every time I see an episode hosted by Rick Dees, I can hear the collective sound of millions of people cringing in embarrassment. This was a great year for music and for Solid Gold though. I wonder if the dancers were ever like "get away from me" when he was on stage? I can see Darcell thinking that for sure

One of the best seasons. A great group of dancers, colourful stage, costumes and props, shame about the host.

The only thing I hate is that I was only turning 4 years old at that time. I WISH I could have been born in 1975 so I could've been a tween, back then. A teen in the late 80's/early 90's & college in the mid 90's. That was a period when TV & music was en pointe!

Music was en pointe up until about 1996-1997.

I think all the girls who liked to dance wanted to be a SG dancer . . . and any guy with a pulse wanted to date them ! So, it was a popular show no doubt !

I , too wanted to be a Solid Gold dancers! I wanna know why in my dreams I can dance like this ? I used to love watching Solid Gold and seeing the dancers crotch down in that famous pose after dancing was the best. (lol)

No, he performed "Eat It" on stage with the dancers during season 4. but I don't believe he ever hosted the show.

i always 'heard' that cooley was put in the front because of the moonwalk being almost impossible for the girls in heels.......

Um, so they stuck him up there for the moonwalk, despite the fact that the rest of his execution of the routine was unclean and sloppy? If that's the case, Anita should've just nixed the moonwalk!

I hated it that during this season Cooley was featured mostly in the front and Mark was in the back. Talk about Anita playing favorites!!!

To my knowledge and I do not have either episodes, Mark danced in the front in two episodes. I think that both episodes has "We Are the World" as the #1 song. One episode he danced with Cooley in front, the other with Pam. I am not sure. Can anyone verify this???

Apparently this is the only episode where Pam was in this posititon? Odd in that she was featured more inSeason 5 with the absence of Darcel. I thought it was a bit odd when they had Cooley in front lol. Thanks for the video.

First of all thanks for loading up on more SG episodes. Yes I noticed Pam in the back. I noticed for this season, that they kept trying to figure out where to best place people because they wanted Cooley in the front to do break dancing as it was popular then.

Simply because of time put in on the show, Pam should never have been stuck in that back corner (in my opinion).

True but if you notice Pam is running to the front line when they group together. Although there was a lot of navigating around each other due the unpredicability in the backflips by Cooley

Maybe Pam liked the back, she was back there in Season 1 after they grouped together and split apart in the original ending dance routine.

True bit after season 1 - Pam was always in the next line behind Darcel (except for a very brief time in season 3 when she was in the big 1/2 with Alex - but that didn't last long at all).  I just think it was an insult to stick her back there with the 'newbies' & Cooley in front.
