U **MUST** adjust the shoulder strap & put it across the top of ur arm where it meets ur shoulder socket. The placement @ the end is directly across the side of ur neck diagonally. The weight of a newborn through pre-schooler would place way too much pressure on ur WHOLE neck causing strain or muscle & tissue damage. When worn PROPERLY the strap distributes the weight across a strong bone, muscle & ur back. A hip carry is not advisable unless proper support & position is achieved & maintained.
