  • great video!! how long did it take for your hair to grow back??

  • @GurlyScreech13 Oh, I think it takes about 6-8 weeks or so...it seems to go back in fine and not prickly, so it could be grown in sooner, but, I just can't see it or feel it much. That's a great question! thanks!

  • is it safe for the bikini area?

  • this is a method used today and a loong time ago by Arab women, its more effective then the wax with stips..it removes hair from roots!! and it makes skin shiny and glowing

  • @markee871 Thank you for watching!

You're absolutely correct, it's the best, most effective method! I love it.♥

  • if you don't use it all the first time...can you use it again somehow after it has cooled down to room temperature? or will it get too hard and you have to reheat it?

  • Hello there totogirl0, thanks for watching my video! I've only really sugared, however, I do feel sugaring is far better than the waxing because of the chemicals, the dangers and the costs...but, the process of removing hair is just about the same process, but, the sugar, in my opinion is far safer and eco-friendly. I would try sugaring...the only thing you have to loose is hair. :0) LOL :0)

xoxo Thanks so much for stopping by, tell me what you think!! :0) take care, Nina

  • Hey Nina!

I heard that sugaring works and lasts longer than waxing...is that true or is it practically the same thing?

    Peace xoxo

  • Hii Nina =) . I was just wondering if i can use any type of sugar for this?

  • Comment removed

  • hi itsCHRISTINAA02, thanks for watching my video, yes, you can use either brown, white (grandulated) or organic sugar, but, I usually use white grandulated sugar because it's easy to use and cheaper. :0) tell me how it works out 4 you! ;0) take care :0) Nina

  • Hello abcde12345ism, sorry for the delay in my reply...just got back home...again.

    :0)

this doesn't sting too much...it's not bad at all. :0) enjoy!

  • Thanks a lot for sharing this.

  • Hi there akcidulb, thank you for watching my video!! You are very welcome!! :0) take care! :0) Nina

  • does it matter wether its white or brown sugar?

  • Hi there, you can use brown sugar, but the cooking times will vary and also, make sure to pack the sugar well in the measuring up. :0) take care and thanks! Nina

  • hey nina! for some strange reason my batch is not turning brown? plz help!

  • Hi there, you'll have to make sure to allow the sugar to comes to a boil and when it begins to foam on top, bring the heat down just long enough to slow down the boiling. Bring up to a boil again and repeat this process until the sugar browns...the bubbles will be a golden color, then, they will gradually darken with more boiling. :0) let me know...ok :0)

oh and sorry for the delay in my reply, I just got back home. :0)

  • Hi, I was just wondering what your personal experiences on sugaring with vinegar was? I don't have any lemon juice, but I do have orange juice...it's the kind in the carton. Would that work? Or should I just use vinegar?

  • Hello there lavendarkittes, thanks for your patience, I just got back home from my eldest daughter's band camp concert. Orange juice should be just fine. Sorry for the delay, let me know how this works. thanks! Nina

  • i think this waxing ingrent work, but do we have to use lemon. i ran out of lemons and lemons juice so is it okay if i use something else other then lemon?

  • Hi there!

you can use grapefruit juice, orange juice, citric acid, lime juice or even apple cider vinegar...but, it's going to be a little different to use...but, yes, you can use a lot of other citric juices in the same amount of the regular recipe. :0) takecare, and thanks!

  • Hi Nina (:

A quick and a little stupid question, how long will there go from one waxing until you have to wax again (:

    - by the way looooove your video (: !!!

    Hugs

  • Hi there (:

Quick, maybe a stupid question, but whatever (: how long will there go from one waxing to the next one (:

    - by the way love the video (: !!!

    hugs (:

  • Hugs!!!

Your question makes sense...no problem. :0) Usually, for me, it's about 3 weeks...but, I'm not very hairy...it will vary from person to person, but, you won't have to sugar as often as it may seem. The hairs will grow back in and feel finer and softer than shaved hair. :0) take care dear and thank you for your patience with me, I have been all over the place running my daughters to and from day camps. :0) HUGS! :0)

  • Hey Nina, how r u? I have a question, the minute it gets cold, its like candy.. very hard.. Do you know what i did wrong? Thanks so much X

  • Hello there AshleyChakawri, thanks for getting in touch with me...I think you may have cooked the sugar a bit longer...but, great news...if it's super hard as a rock, you may be able to soften a bit of it and remove it from the container and add a bit of water to possibly soften it (not easy)...or, you could try the "ball method" if the sugar is soften a bit and if you remove it from the jar, try rolling it into a ball.If that doesn't work, let's try to make a new batch. :0) let me know :0)

  • hello nina, I have a batch of persian wax that I've had for a month or two although it's always either too hot to use or solid and unspreadable when it's cold.

what can I do to fix this?

    x

  • Hello nekotali, thanks for watching my video! You may want to heat water on the stove in a sauce pan and once water is heated well, remove and place the container in a bowl and pour the hot water around the sides...allow to sit for 15 minutes...then, that should soften the waxd up. Let me know if that helps or not. Thanks so much!! :0) take care, Nina

  • Could I use a fresh lemon to make the mixture or does it have to be lemon juice from a bottle?? and if it is possible to use the juice from a lemon, how many lemons do I need? Thanks:)

  • Hello LoveSong87, thanks for watching my video. You can use either fresh or bottled. I've used both...just grab 3 medium lemons to be on the safe side...most times, one or two fresh lemons work fine... 1/4 cup...also, try poking a couple of holes in the lemon and microwave them for several seconds and that will release juices faster...oh, and be sure to place lemon in a bowl so it will collect any juice that runs...after the microwave, just slice lemon in half and squeeze. :0) take care :0) Nina

  • Hi again. Sorry to keep bothering you, but I'm still having trouble. I followed your recipe exactly. It turned out too thin, the cloth wouldn't remove it, it just stayed on my skin. I tried adding more sugar and reheating the mixture so it'd be thicker and that was a disaster, way too sticky. I'm so disappointed and almost ready to give up. Maybe I should do less liquid at the beginning?

  • Hey there KannD86,

no problem...I've been away from home a lot lately, sorry it took me so long to reply.

    :0)

try adding less water and dust with a little more powder and that should work...please don't give up; it's going to be just fine once we work out the disaster. :0) When you cook the sugar, make sure you allow the bubbles to turn a rich dark brown. Cool overnight just to be sure it's "set"...I don't always do that, but, it's okay to do. pls don't give up!! it's going to be fine! :0)

  • omg!! i cant believe this!!! i've actually successfully done it on the 1st try!!! wow!!! i'm so excited right now! and it works WONDERFULLY!!!! i dont know why it's so hard for other people.. it's so easy!! and now i can have wonderfully hairless leg that i've always dream of...at such a cheap price!!! IM SO HAPPY!!! xDDD

  • HUGS!!!!!!

DeGurlls, I'm excited to hear the great news!!! You made my day. Finally coming home from all the errands and find something awesome from you!!! I'm thankful that it worked for you and I'm hoping it becomes easy for others because...it's super duper easy...It's a great money saver and it's safe...how awesome!!!!! Thanks soooo much for the feedback!!!!!! HUGS!!! Nina

thanks for watching my video too!! :0)

  • *hugs back* thank you so much Nina !!! you made my wish for hairless arm and legs come true! You're totally my angel~ xD just a few question though..

how long should i wait after i wax to apply lotion? and also i waxed my arms last night before i sleep and i woke up this morning with numbness feeling in both my arms.. is this normal? this is the very 1st time i do waxing.. there no redness or bumps though.. just a feeling of numbness.. pls let me know i'm kinda anxious.. =) *hugs*

  • Hi there! thanks for your uplifting feedback! You can apply lotion soon after sugaring. Try to rinse area with warm water, a splash of cold (to close pores) then pat dry.

The numbness if normal but aggravating. This is usually only after the first or second sugaring...after that, it probably not happen. I had that happen the first and maybe 2nd sugaring...after that, I think it stopped. :0) take care and thanks again!! Nina

  • What will I need, if I want to make a smaller batch of this stuff?

  • can u post "how to make hair removal cream"by using tea powder & other ingredients.?

    thnx.cheer's

  • Hi there dear.

I have not used recently tried to create my own hair removal cream, however, I do have a recipe someplace around here for lightening the hair if you don't want to remove it. thank you so much for your encouragement. I will talk to my Auntie and see if she has this recipe you mention. I will get in touch w/you soon. :0) Nina :0) thanks again!

  • I have a few questions what is the difference between sugaring and waxing sugaring and which is more effective?

  • Hi there singerlisa12, I have been out of the house a lot lately, sorry for the delay.

Sugaring as I call it is referring to the recipe I have which contains only 3 ingredients. The commercial brands use a synthetic products, all except the few which are found in natural health stores and ethnic grocery stores. As far as effectiveness; they both remove hair in the same manner only using a different product mix. I only sugar (w/food) but, I love it and have done so for 18 yrs. :0)thanks!

  • heyy :)

ooookk. sooo yea when i doo it , it just rips out the hair but doesn'tt pull it outt,

same thing as sumone else's problem... when i let it cool down. its hard andd :S pleasee helpp

and how hair do we boil it? low medium or high?

    thanks xo

  • Hi. I tried again with a little better results, but it seems to mostly be breaking off the hairs, not ripping them out. I've been spreading it down and ripping it up, is that correct? I'm going to make a new batch and try again sometime. How do you generally dispose of it? I just wasted a ton of time/hot water rinsing off the strips of cloth. I think the ball method would be better because it requires less cleanup.

  • Hello KannD86, thanks for your interest in my videos. It sounds like you're doing the process correctly. It may take you a little time to get used to the whole method. Sugar is easy to clean up. Instead of "Wasting a ton of time/hot water..." You are suggested to fill a cup or small bowl with warm water and soak the strips to dissolve the sugar and remove the hairs, then, drain the water, toss strips in the washing machine with your next load...simple! :0)

  • I have been sugaring successfully for 18 years (half my life so far) and the first few times was a trial an error period. I have used the ball method, however, explaining the actual techique, sharing the slightly altered recipe and heating process if quite complicated due to a lot of reasons, time being one of them. I have done my own research and honestly, you use more sugur on the "ball method" than the strip method, as you thinly spread a very thin layer of sugar on skin...

  • I have taken care to keep track of my pitfalls and sucess and this is what I have come up with. It takes time to get your own technique down and I know you'll do fine with it. :0) Whatever works for you is your sucess; I wish you all the best and I'm glad my videos have been of interest to you. Remember, after sugaring, you legs or whatever will feel only slightly sticky...there shouldn't be gobs of goo all over your bathroom. lol :0) I shower in warm water, then, a blast of cold to close pores.

  • Thank you so much for this video! I just finished using some tonight and I have to tell you how utterly impressed with it I am. I used it on my bikini line and after failing at wax several times, I braced myself for the pain and was SOOO surprised that it barely hurt. I put flour on before and that helped too, although Id rather use babypowder. I'm excited because this is the first hair pulling method that has actually been able to work for me. AND SO CHEAP!! I'm shocked it's not more popular!

  • Hello shannon8714!

You're welcome!! I thank you for watching my video!! This is one of the best kept secrets out there as far as hair removal goes, I think...it's amazing how something so cheap and easy to make is not more widely used. :0) I'm just thrilled that you tried it and left me feedback!! You made my day!! Have a great afternoon!! Nina

  • this seems really cool but I've had bad experience with wax on my eyebrows and it left huge burning itchy bumps for more than a hour

and I've tried Nair face cream for my upper lip and it left small scars(barely noticeable but this week i have to sing with my school choir and i don't want to have the same effect

will this affect me in anyway? SOMEONE HELP!

  • Hi there cherryblossom2395, thanks for your interest in sugaring. I will tell you that waxing is a bit comparative to sugaring, however, the ingredients are all natural with sugaring. If this is a special event and everything, you may want to go to a salon and have your brows threaded...if you want to sugar your brows, use a stencil (found in cosmetic section of stores) and hold it in place and sugar around that area. When you finish sugaring, wash face in warm water and cleanser, then...

  • continued-

splash with cool water...actually as cold as you can stand and this will close pores. You should be fine. Let me know if that works. :0)

  • yeah i go thread my eyebrows now but i want to try sugaring my upper lip. will this burn me or anything in anyway?

  • Hi! Thanks for the video!

quick question.. what do you do with the left overs?

  • ...It wouldn't spread thin, instead it would start to harden right away. The cloth wouldn't stick to it, so I just ripped it off. It did pull out some hairs, not all. I tried over and over, but couldn't get it to spread. I'd like to try again tomorrow, what would you recommend I do? Start over with a new batch? What if I added a little water and microwaved it?

  • Hi. Thanks for making this video. I just tried sugar waxing and ran into some problems, maybe you can help. I think I know where I went wrong, I followed a recipe that called for 2 cups sugar, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup lemon juice. I brought it to a boil, it got dark amber colored, then I let it cool a little bit. My legs were clean and dry, hairs trimmed down to 1/4 inch and lightly dusted with baby powder. When I first tried to spread it on my leg, it felt too hot, but I kept going...

  • im having trouble with my recipe. When I allow it to cool down it becomes very solid, glass like. Im owndering what i do wrong. Did I over cook it? please help

  • im having trouble with the recipe. I allow it to cool down a bit but when i try to apply it feels like a hard shell. It wont even stick to my skin. Did I over cook it? Please help

  • hi thier nina!...

    just a question...

after sugaring... what will i apply... or should i apply sumtin....

what is the effect of continuously sugaring? i mean does it lessen hair growth?

im so excited bout this.. and my brother...

im gonna try this on saturday... since its my free day... another one.. can i double the double the measurement to double the volume of the paste?

  • Hello thre anjaigirl,

    Great questions...

after sugaring, I usually wash area with warm water (a littlle mild soap is fine to use also), then rinse well with cool water to close pores. I feel the sugaring has made my legs and all less hairy; but, even if it's just my imagination (smiling), the hairs have been softer and easier to manage. You may double the recipe; you will be smart to do that so you'll always have an extra batch around.

  • :0) take care dear and let me know if there are any questions or problems. Thanks!! Nina

  • Great video (I love the back ground music)I have made this once before~But didn't I know how exactly you to use afterward's though. Thanks so much for this video .I'm going to give it another try.bye:)

  • Hello there and thank you for watching my video and for the compliment!

If something doesn't work right, please let me know and I'll help as much as I can!

:0) take care!! Thanks again!! Nina

  • Heyy , do you use brown or white sugar?

Also, it has to be burn at how much degree? Like, the machine has to be open a 10 degre ? 25 degre? Awn , sorry for my english :S

    Anyways , thanks a lot !

  • Hello there and thank you for watching my video! You can use either sugar, however, I prefer to use the white because it's given me the results in the cooking process a lot faster and easier.

You can use for 25 degre...allow to boil, turn down heat, stir...bring to boil again...sugar should be a dark brown in color...keep cooking until that happens. It will be great! ;-) thanks!! :0) Nina

  • I started shaving my legs a while ago since I got tired of how ugly and dirty legs look like when they're hairy, but I always get those red bumps and my hair starts to grow out again only after a day or two, so annoying and it hurts when you are to put on your pants and so.

I'm going to try this out when my hair grows out again in a couple of weeks.

I hope more guys realize how awesome it is with smooth legs!

    Thanks for uploading this video.

    Smooth legs for all!

  • Hello there ComradeDragon!

I'm glad to hear from you! Smooth legs are a great feeling and they look so nice! It's amazing how anyone can do this in their home and it's so inexpensive!! :0)

  • (continued)

Razor bumps are so bothersome and the prickly feelings isn't too much fun either...I think the sugar will be a wonderful, comforting choice!!!

Please, please let me know if you have any questions or "sticky situations" lol :0)

    I'm glad to help!

You are very welcome and thank you for your encouraging comments!!! :0) take care, Nina

  • wow thanks god i found ur vids... it really helps.. my brother is also blessed w/ many hair (opps hope he'll not read this..lol!) this can really help him... and me 2 ... i really want 2 shave my legs.. but im afriad that ill cut my self... im gonna try this one.... thanks again... just one thing have u made a vid of the ball method?

  • Hi there and thanks for watching my video! I'm glad I can be of help. I wonder if your brother is reading this. LOL :0) Well, I have known many people to share sugaring with the hairy guys in their lives. LOL ;))

I did a mini demo on the ball method, but, I cannot recall the name of that video. It isn't really in detail, but, it's a general mini video about the "ball" method. Please tell me if you need more help with that. Thanks! Nina

  • Thanx for sharing this wit us... definitely going to try!! For how long can you keep this? And how much do need to do full (rather short) legs??

  • Hello there dids60, thanks for watching my video! The sugar can be kept for a long, long time, over a year if not longer as long as it's stored in a container with a lid. Please store it in a pantry or cool, dry place. When the make the recipe, about 1/4 of that amount should easily take care of your legs...maybe even less sugar is needed. You'll have a lot left over. thanks again! Nina

  • does it work with out the lemon juice? and does brown sugar work with this too?

  • Hi there hoti3911, thanks for your interest in sugaring! You'll want to use some sort of citric juice...you can use orange, grapefruit, lime, and lemon...or, if you have citric acid on hand, that should be fine. Some friends of mine have tried white vinegar, that works for most people also. Brown sugar will work fine, but please pack the sugar when measuring it...this sugar is a bit different...you'll need to allow it to turn very, very dark brown in order to be ready for use...it will work fine

  • thx.. that helped me out a lot... ur very sweet!

  • You are most welcome and thanks!! :0)

  • hi hope ur welll...erm i tried mking tht and cooked it lk for 15 mins but the whole tym i had the gas fulll...the outcome is i thnk i burnt it lol it cme out purplee put it in a bowll and 2 mins l8r touched it wiw a spoon and it soo harddd cant even picki any out soo i thnk i failed on that task lol....wat did i do wrong and throughout the 15 mins shud the gas be fulll or lyk half or even low...its either high medium or low which one??????? help x x

  • Hello there! thanks for your enthusiasm!! You'll use a medium/high heat, bring to a boil, turn down heat or remove pot, stir...bring back to a boil...stir...keeping the sugar from burning. The bubbles which form will be foamy and a golden color...allow them to turn the color of a penny...at least close enough to that color...when sugar is cool, bubbles will cease and you'll want to pour this into a jar...something microwave safe.

  • HI Nina,

I did your recipe and it works. However, it only works for longer hair, I tried to use paper and cloth....both works....but do u happens to try it on new grow short hair?? I cannot do it....I tried it after I made it, and my hair just grow for a few day after I shave and it does not work. Do u have any tips??

  • Hi there! What I have noticed is once you go through a full cycle of sugaring...in other words, you've sugared, the hair is no longer shaved off...the hairs generally are going to grow in finer and lighter...usually, you'll be able to remove them alot easier than when sugaring the first.

  • when sugairng the first time...I forgot what I was saying...LOL sorry about that. :)

  • how long i can keep this in jar?

n i wanna ask about 'lemon juice'

lemon juice that u used is lemon juice that we can buy in store (in bootle) or lemon squash from lemon (fruit)?

    thx alot ^^

  • Hello senkiqz, thanks for your interest in sugaring, thanks for watching my video. This sugaring mixture, once cooked, will last for in indefinite amount of time. I have made large batches and used it even a year later...as long as it's stored in a dark pantry and has a lid, everything should be fine. It's really great. :0) I thank you for your kindness and enthusiasm! ;)

  • can i use it for bikini area n underarm area? (=

  • Hello there senkiqz! Thanks so much for watching my video!

Yes, :0) This sugar is perfect for those areas...I use it for that purpose as well as my face and legs! :0) thanks!!! Nina

  • how long do you have to keep it on the stove

  • Hello there! Thanks for watcing my video. The time varies greatly...so much so, that I cannot give a specific time...I have a gas stove and I think it takes me about 15 minutes to complete this sugaring process. I have known it to take less time for me and sometimes, a bit longer. By the way; you use regular white sugar. Brown sugar can be used if that's all you have, but my recipe is with the white grandulated sugar. Thanks! Nina

  • Does this method remove hair for approx 6 - 8 weeks like other waxing?

  • Hello there! Thanks for watching my video! Hair growth varies greatly from person to person...for me, I've been able to go that long and longer at times before I've had to sugar, but, it also depends on the time of year (hair growth cycle) and part of the body...but, comparing side by side, since sugaring does the same thing waxing does, it should be close to the same results. :) take care!! Nina

  • can u el me wat does c means? does it mean 2 cups of sugar or sumfn els plzzzz

  • hay can u plz tell me that wat does c means? does it mean 2cups of sugar or sumfn els plzzzz

  • Hello there, matawogora,

"c" in my recipes is cups.

If you need a conversion to metric (or other), let me know and I'll be glad to help you. :0)

  • And what if I don't have a microwave, where can I heat it up again?

  • You can warm it up by placing the container of sugar wax into a larger bowl or pot of hot water. It may take about 8-10 minutes depending on the container...but, when it is soft, stir a bit and place back into the hot water...it should work great in a few minutes afterwards!! thanks!! Nina

  • Hi! Does it have to be brown sugar or the white one? Or can I use both? Thank you!

  • Hi there!! I usually use white sugar; brown will work, but, it's a little more complicated (for me). I have had friends use white, powdered, brown and even organic sugar...I'm chicken. :) LOL

    thanks for your enthusiasm! Nina

  • just a quick question... my sister and i tried this yesterday and it didnt really work that well - and we were wondering - when you put it on does it have to be hot?! because when we put it on it was warm and stick... so we were just really confused....

  • Hi there!!

Well, you know, the sugar needs to be warm enough to spread, but, doesn't need to be too hot; this stuff burns like you know what (smiling) If you haven't already done so, try dusting the skin with a little powder (baby powder, talc, cornstarch, or similar) after making sure ur skin is totally free of excess oil or moisture. If you hair is longer than 3 day old stubble, it should work...sometimes, it takes a while2 get used 2. Let me know and I will see what else we can do. :)HUGS!

  • Hi iv always wanted to try sugaring and today i made it i was pretty impresed becoz it look likedyours! but when i applied it to my skin it wont stick!lol. so i thort id make them sugar balls and it turn out like hard boiled candy!! was it because it had cooled down quite abit? but the way your vids are brilliant!so easy to follow. thankyou

  • :0) hi there organicdeal, thanks for watching my videos. Thanks!!! Um, well, you may have cooked the sugar a little too long, if so, you can do the same process, but, just not as long...I made a huge ball of "candy" the very first time I tried this 18 years ago!! Pls don't give up, it will be perfect very soon!! :0) let me know what you think!! thanks again!! Nina

  • Uhm, what is more painful? Waxing or sugaring?

  • Hi there OlweizBoutMeeh,

They both remove hair in just about the same manner, so, I think they'd be about the same in "painfulness" department. :0)

  • Oh Thanks!

I tried it and I was surprised it wasn't that painful!

    I love sugaring :D

  • Awesome!! I'm so glad to hear that!! Yeah, it's not so bad at all, is it!! :0) Thank you so much for your feedback and for your enthusiasm!!! Have a great day!!!!!

    thanks!! :) Nina

  • so i attempted at making this and uh i do not know if i made it right. lol well i wanted to try the ball method and when i took the sugar out of the jar it got too hard really quick, so hard it was like a rock. What did i do wrong, and how can i fix it? thanks for the help. I really wanna try this method cause waxing and shaving is too harsh on my skin and causes ingrown hair. so i would really love to start sugaring. Thanks again!

  • The arab woman have been doing this for centuries. My mom taught me n i love it, its effective n saves money. Thanks for sharing

  • Hi there BintNas09!

Yes, you're absolutely right, sugaring began in that part of the world and has continued to bring smiles to many women! Isn't that awesome!! It's amazing how it's past down from generation to generation. Our daughters are still quite young, however, they already know they will sugar instead of shaving. We don't own razors...Well, except my husband. :) You are very welcome and I really appreciate your kindness. Thank you for watching my video! :0) Nina :0)

  • Ur welcome habibity( sweeti in arabic), I loved ur video i saved it and sent it out to all my gurls. My channel is all based on beauty, fashion, and skin care. Wax is an important aspect in beauty lol. SO keep up the lovely videos U have a lovely page. Have a Blessed day!

  • Hello there!!! Oh, that is so sweet of you to share this with your gurls!

If it weren't for wax, I'd be about 10 pounds heavier! LOL (just kidding)

  • I've try making the sugar and it works... but after using it, I stored the remaining away, now when I want to use it after 4 weeks, the sugar become hard at the btm and watery at the top at room temp... why is that?

  • it worked! exeped I used that but changed it up a bit, I have an ingrown hair on my neck : ( will this take it off? and my friend is growing a unowbraw : ( can she use this?? please wright me back and what happeneds when it gets cold? do you put it in the microwave? I dont no, my jar of it, its like half empty becuase I used it for a party, it was left overs, it will not come out of the jar! HELP! : )

  • Hello! I'm glad it worked for you. When the sugar cools, it will harden, simply place the jar or bowl in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. Stir well and continue using, the great thing is, the sugar can be used over and over. Thanks!!!

  • Thank you so much for such a great tutorial on this method of waxing. I was just talking to my girlfriend a few minutes ago about this because she suffers from irritated skin and ingrown hairs after getting her kitty waxed. I have no problem with the natural look, but because she likes to have a hairless kitty I'm going to perfect this method and do it for her. Maybe I'll give her a little heart shaped kitty just for fun.

  • Hello there and thank you for watching my video! That is ver kind of you to be so caring towards your girlfriend, I am sure she appreciates it!

Ingrown hairs are a huge issue and I understand fully of her concerns. At least you're comfortable with natural; she's lucky to have such a flexible minded guy. :)

I sure hope this sugaring gives a glimmer of hope and happiness for you two.

  • I love sugaring and living in Texas (with the heat and humidity), we try to keep ourselves cool however we can... :0)

take care and you two keep in touch! thanks! Nina

  • wait so after you make this paste you have to use cloth like waxing??? i thought you just spread on the skin and RIP. like the other vids.....

  • Hehehe...there are two main methods...I have demonstrated the "strip" method because it's something I do most often. The other method, I call the "ball" method...and it's easy to do, however, it takes a bit more getting used to...kneading the sugar, etc. The plus side to the "ball" method is you reuse the sugar for the entire application, with the "strip" method is great because you can do precision sugaring for small areas as well as larger ones. :0) thanks 4 watching my video! :-) Nina

  • marry me nina

    but first wax me legs...please

  • lol...;0)

  • Ooh, This is usefull. Much better than having to buy wax. Waxing legs is horrid enough anyways >.>

  • Thank you so much for watching my video! I really hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!! Have a great day!!

    :0) Nina

  • Oh! My mixture came out the color you had (on my first try!), but the consistency is watery and not really thick. Too much water?

  • thanx hun

  • after using suger as a wax...how i would clean them and after cleaning can i use ICE to close the pores? pls help me out..

  • After sugaring your skin, you should use a warm, damp towel to remove any excess sugar. Once clean, apply cold water or ice on the area. That will close pores. That is a great question. I sure wished I had added that to my video. :0) take care, Nina

  • sweet heart i dont have microwave.. so that in what process in can warm them before using wax?

  • You can warm a pot of water til very warm, but not boiling. Pour warm water into a vessel and place your small jar or container inside of the vessel of warm water...give it about 15 minutes, and the sugar will be soft. That will work just as good as a microwave if not better. Take care dear!!

  • if i put sugaring in a plastic container..and put them in a warm water for soften out.. is there any chance to boil that plastic jar?

  • that sounds fine, yes, just putting the plastic container into the warm water.

  • its great ... can i use vinegar alternative lemon juice? does it works? is vinegar will irritae the skin? pls reply

  • Hello dear,

vinegar will work pretty good as an alternative, it works fine and it won't irritate skin...partially because it's cooked and mixed with sugar. :0) thanks!

  • okkk..thanx.. little bit confused.. i will need i cup of sugar or 2 cup?

  • :0) sorry about that. :-)

it's best to use 1 cup for most uses...yes, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 water, 1/4 lemon juice (or vinegar, grapefruit juice, lime, or orange juice)

    I apologize for the confusion. :0) :0)

  • Nina, I have just started sugaring. The consistency seems to be right but I want to use the ball method. The strips are pretty messy as the sugar warms up on your hands or body. When will you post the ball method?

  • hi there!

    thanks for watching my video!

I haven't had to many messes with the strips, but, I guess it can be a bit tricky at first.

I did a video with a short, very short demo on the ball method...I can't recall which sugaring video it is, but, if you can't find it, let me know and I'll try to send you the link. :0) take care and thanks!!! :0) Nina

  • If I don't have any cotton or nylon cloth, what can I use?

  • hey there, almost any fabric will do, some people even use old t-shirts material. :0)

  • do u know if this causes ingrowns if u use it on your stomach belly button area

  • Hello and thanks for watching my video...

I sugar my belly area and have been lucky not to experience ingrown hairs. :0)

I hope this helps!! thanks again!

  • I am so glad you found this!! Yes, veet amoung other hair removers are very strong and can harm your skin...I really love the sugar because it's easy to make, safe to use and if your pets accidentally discover the sugar mixture; it's not going to harm them! ;) it's sweet!! :0) thanks for watching my video and good luck!

  • Do I have to use lemon juice, or is there another way?

  • Hi, thanks for watching my video. you can use the same measurement of vinegar (white or apple cider) or just about any citrus...grapefruit, lime,orange...those all work great!!

  • hey nina i did this last night and it turned out all watery. i used 2 cups of brown sugar (thats all i had) 1/4 of lime juice and 1/4 of water. what went wrong?

  • You'll need to simmer it on the stove until it boils, turn down heat if it boils too much, allow the sugar mixture to heat up again and keep stirring...it will take close to 15 minutes for the right consistency...allow to cool and if it's firm; it's right...if too soft or watery, you'll need to cook longer...hang in there!! :)

  • hey whenever i try this mine always ends up being like clear or a musty light yellow color

    it never turns brown

    what should i do

  • Please try simmering it on the stove for a bit longer and it should start to boil, turn down heat and allow to settle, then, turn up heat again. tell me if that works. :0) thanks!

  • Hello there thanks for this awesome video :) I was wondering, (because i didn't see you use one but i've seen some other youtubers use) if you need a candy thermometer. thanks!

  • Hi there...no, you don't have to use a candy thermometer!! :0) take care and thanks for watching my video!

  • hi nina!

i was wondering if this is ok to use for kind of a brazilian wax?

i'm going to make a batch tonight if i have enough lemon juice

  • I love this for the Brazillian wax...it works great...I'm speaking from personal experience...it's gentle and of food safe ingredients!

tell me how it works out!! thanks!!! thanks 4 watching my video!

  • ok thank you so much!!! and sure , and no problem

  • hi i just wanted to know how long it takes to make the sugar and if it is hard to make

  • hello there!

    thanks for watching my video!

It's takes 10-15 minutes or something around that time...it's not a quick, super quick deal, but, it's less than 20 minutes...bascially depends on the heat setting and your altitude. I usually have mine sugar finished in 12-15 minutes. thanks!

  • Hi Nina! Thanks for sharing your sugaring methods and tips! I tried to make a batch today, i'm wondering if the heat i was using was too high, because i've ended up with a cristallised mass that looks like set honey. I used vinegar instead of lemon juice, but you said that was okay, with the same proportions, and the bubbles and froth were taking forever to settle down.

    thanks in advance

  • Hi there moicatinuviel, thanks for watching my video and for your interest in sugaring!

The sugar will be firm when it is cool...then, when you're ready to use some, you'll have to warm it up in the microwave for 15-20 seconds...up to 30 seconds total. Stir the middles outwards and eventually, the sugar will be thick, but, will be ready to use. Please let me know if that works. Take care and thank you for watching my video! :0) Nina

  • I tried that, but my mixture was rock solid, it took me almost a day to empty the jar by leaving hot water to soak in it, and changing it when it got cold. I'll definitely try again "cooking" it on a lower heat. lol

  • hi

thanks for sharing you're video.i just wanna ask you if sugaring method will lead to ingrown hair?

    thank in advance.

  • Hi yeoleu,

that's a great question! I have not experienced ingrown hairs from sugaring and I don't know how often others have, but, this is something great to know, the hairs are usually finer and softer as they regrow...usually, it's a totally brand new hair unlike with shaving...so, there is a chance with ingrown hairs, but, sugaring is probably going to be less likely to give ingrown hairs.

  • and if you're prone or sensitive to ingrown hairs, sample the sugar on a small section of your leg to see how you react to it and in about 4 or 5 weeks, the results will be pretty clear. Ingrown hairs are the pits...so, please, take care and let me know what you think...I feel pretty confident that sugaring will be safe. :) take care and thanks for watching my video and for your interest in sugaring!

  • Nina, I love your videos! I made 2 batches last night and both were disasters. It's rock hard at room temp and it will not stick to my hairs. I tried again today with 1cup sugar, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/4 cup water. But it again looks just too hard at room temp and if i heat it up it just makes a stringy mess. Help!

  • Hi there and I think what I would suggest is adding a bit more sugar...sometimes, the altitude will deliver strange results...I would add about 4 tablespoons of sugar...you can add it directly to your mixture even it it's already made...place in saucepan and reheat...stir continually to avoid burns...when cooled, it should be solid and firm to touch. tell me if that works. :) thanks again!

  • Hey, Nina!

I made some sugar paste this morning and cooled it in a tupperware kind of container. I got a little bit out on my fingers, and it's too sticky to stay in one glob, it just felt like I was getting honey all over my hands when I moved my fingers around. Do you have any suggestions on how to make it more taffy-like in order to get it into a ball & be able to get it off? I have read that some people have chilled it to use..hmm. Anyway, thanks for your help!(:

    Rebecca

  • Hi Rebecca, thanks for watching my video and thanks for your enthusiasm!

Well, I think you may need to reheat the sugar on the stove a bit longer...it will bubble and almost boil over, so be sure to stir with vigor...and remove from heat from time to time to maintain the sugar and keep it from burning. When cooled, it will be firm to touch and it will need to be warmed for about 8-10 seconds..just enough to dig some out...it will soften with the warmth of your hands...roll into ball

  • and then, kind of sit it on a cooler surface such as a counter top...usually, by that time, it's workable.. :0) tell me if this works, I am happy to help in any way I can. ;0) thank you so much for watching my video and I look forward to hearing your results! :0) Nina

  • Great video, but my results are a disaster! Help! This stuff just does not stick to my hair. I think I've removed all of 10 hairs, and I have a big stringy mess everywhere. It's either scalding hot or unable to stick to my hairs.

I used 1 cup sugar, 2 tbsp water and 2tbsp lemon juice till it turned coffee colored.

  • I'm sorry that didn't work for you!! :0) Please don't give up, we'll get it right eventually. It took me a couple of times before I got it right way back in the day! ;)

  • Nina, your videos are great. I made two batches, and have done my legs a couple of times, getting easier... I want to use the ball method, just to save the mess of washing up the strips used, but am having trouble getting the "wax" to form a ball and not stick to everything! I did work the wax, as you did in one of the videos, but mine didn't seem to ever get to the point where it didn't stick all over my fingers. Do I need to cook a bit longer? Going to just under 260 degrees right now. Thanks!

  • hi there and thank you for watching my video!

You may need to cook it a bit longer, perhaps 8-10 minutes longer on medium-high heat. I will be hard when it cools...and darker amber than the batch you just made. I apologize for my delay in reply!! ;0) take care and you are welcome...if you have any questions, please let me know!! ;)

  • ohh we use that in our culture(sudanese) and many otehr arab countries.

it leaves ur skin smooth and soft too.

  • Hello there and thank you for watching my video! Sugaring is awesome and to me, the smartest way to remove hair...it's safe, easy and like you said, leaves skin smooth and soft!! I love it and when our daughters are old enough, they will sugar also! :0) Thank you again for watching my video! :0) Nina

  • does it hurt?

  • Hi!!

It does sting initially, but, that soon goes away in seconds. :0)
