You're right, they do much better at keeping the heat down. Unfortunately they are much worse at surviving! I only have two videos, go check the other out :)
Hi. This looks great! Have you considered switching (no pun intended) to MOSFETs instead of IGBT? A few low RDS(on) MOSFETs in parallel should give you plenty of torque while keeping heat down. At 48V bus, they do better than IGBT in most cases.
