He's not a neocon. Learn the difference between neoconservative and paleoconservative. Anyway, you don't have to be an anarcho-capitalist to be a libertarian. Bad criticism all around.
Why do people think that if someone claims they are a libertarian conservative that they must be in line with all libertarian stances on every issue?
The silly thing about purist libertarians is that they are so anti-government as to render the government ineffective in protecting citizen's rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness if they were to get their way on all government policies. They care more about being different than the Dems or Reps than about being effective.
He defends the Hiroshima bombing, He believes in American exceptional ism, he supports capital punishment. As a Pro-Life libertarian(and no that's not a contradiction) I typically don't call for ideological purity. But if you support the state incinerating innocent men women and children(hiroshima), I think it's safe to say you're not a libertarian.
No, he never did reply, but then again he probably never saw my video.
I don't think what I said was harsh. I wasn't really calling him a liar, all I was saying was that as the head of bureaucrash, an anti-state organization, avoiding talking about defense spending made it seem to me that he was hiding his more pro-state views.
Everyone proclaims they're left or right, and everyone has variations of the general ideology of that group, not just Lee Doran. For example: I claim I'm conservative. Most you would think that I'm a homo-phobe and a religious nut when I'm agnostic and couldn't really care what happens in other people's bedrooms. I actually care more about smaller government and free-market for the sake progress brought from competition, as well as minimizing the risk of monopolies, government or otherwise.
His defense of Limbaugh, Palin, Hannity, and sometimes Bush should say a lot. His defense of Israel lately also says something.
He also has this habit of saying "regardless of your position" when he mentions issues like gay marriage, afghanistan, and immigration. I think he does to not displease his neoconservative fanbase, but at the same time compromises many libertarian views.
I'm sure his GOP flag waving is the tell-tale sign, he just won't publicly admit it.
Yes, I did notice his habit of saying "regardless of your position" on those issues.
haha. I remember he said once that he supported gay marriage, but I wish he would come out strong on the other issues, instead of making me guess what he thinks.
Why he continues to support the Limbaugh and Palin is just beyond me.
@axlman5 I looked beyond HTWW for more libertarian stuff. In fact, I've found anarcho-capitalist stuff to be more in my league. Lee seems always ready to compromise libertarian views. I'm still subbed to him but I don't rely on him that much. Ancap or hardcore libertarian views are more radical but they're more interesting. If you have any interest, look up fringeelements or JacobSpinney. In those channels you will find principled views. But that's only if you're interested. Peace bro.
Dude ,he's got more education in his finger nail then you have in your entire body,so shut your snot nose little weasel punkass mouth. You have absolutely ZERO credibility, and very little brains to match up to Lee Doren. Its like you,the pee wee football league playing against the NFL which would be Lee Doren. To put it simply, you are a wet behind the ears,do nothing, accomplish nothing in life little puke who thinks he knows everything ! Your a little boy in a big mans world ! Get it little man ?
You're right Lee Doren is not a libertarian far from it, he deletes my comments praising Ron Paul, Drinkingwithbob is guilty of it as well, they both parade as lone bloggers but obviously have ulterior motives, they're probably working for Faux News or some other neocon organization, the republicans are scared to death of Ron Paul taking over the party.
I dont consider myself a neocon (A FACIST is a better term btw ...)
but I feel in this world, military is an extremely important investment. Sure theres a lot that can be made more efficient, but the idea of a smaller military just isnt high on my list of things to cut....
I dont see how its possible to have a free market, and the liberties that we wish to preserve and GET BACK without a strong standing in the world and a strong military ...
I understand why you think that cutting millitary spending isn't a high priority and also why defense spending doesn't go against the libertarian position.
However, unless the source that I used was intentionally misleading, Lee doesn't even bother to have an opinion on defense.which is absurd since it is one the major components of the budget.
I speculate he probably has opinions on defense that contradict Bureaucrash, and he intentionally dodges this question.
@bl4h1 - we would have better standing if we weren't shooting people's family members in their own countries, don't you think? The biggest threat to your liberty is your government - funny how self-described conservatives seem blind to the fact that it is the military that poses the threat BOTH physically and financially (Military Industrial Complex). Why don't you believe TWO-time MOA winner Smedley Butler when he said "War is a Racket" quite some time ago????
@ScottfromTexas did you know the military is managed by the GOVERNMENT ? So yeah, regardless of where you stand on the issue its still the government thats the biggest threat now isnt it
@ScottfromTexas Well Ill tell you this, Im not bothered by the military. Just like im sure youre not bothered by some aspects of the government either. I mean, unless you're some sort of anarchist. Which I certainly am not.
@bl4h1 - you can live naively if you wish. Just look throughout history. Government is the biggest threat to the people and the military is the reason.
@bl4h1 - also, the military is run in a socialist manner. Funny how so many self-proclaimed conservatives (usually actually neocons) like the military.
Thanks. I tend to usually hit the nail on the head.I'm asssuming your distain for him is because you're a true libertarian, and not a leftist, like so many of his other critics.
The videos you posted have supported what I have already thought, which is HTWW is not really a libertarian but merely using BureauCrash to make himself known. He may say different but I think that's whats going on here.
However, you say he's bought, but who or what exactly "brought" him?
Well I'm a republican and I'm a critic of him because of his behavior on youtube and how he is a shock jock. I know libertarians and the people are right, Mr.Doren is not a libertarian and more like a hard line conservative.
From his actions in his comments and videos turns off a lot of people because how he degrades and insults people or too eager to say they are wrong and block them from his channel. He spits on people's graves instead of showing respect.
I also find him to be a shock jock because of his tone which is very authoritative(he was trained to do this) and focuses more on getting his viewers outraged instead of discussing the story indepth and really digging. Instead Mr.Doren just takes the article and runs with it.
For example the tea bag cartoon by Mark Fiore. He got his viewers angry at NPR because of one of the cartoons was about tea baggers. Well the article that he cited was a shock jock article and didn't even...
So I went directly to NPR's website and Mr.Fiore's website and found that NPR was contracting him for opinion based cartoons. So I watched the cartoons that were posted on the NPR website and they were politically balanced.
There we jabs at teabaggers, bankers, democrats, and republicans. Mark Fiore spared no one to the comedy. However for those that didn't research this directly would feel outraged because of Mr.Doren.
It is perfectly acceptable to be outraged at having your own taxes used to attack you, whether you are a tea-partier, banker, democrat, or republican. Even if the taxes are a small percentage of the total money used.
And especially when the target is children, not adults. My taxes used to denigrate me to my kids? That should upset everyone.
Considering that a significant portion of America's ballooning debt has been attributed to "defense" spending, Lee should FIND the time to come up with an opinion. You mean has the time to find the details in the argument against global warming, universal health care, the stimulus, extc...but not defense???
He does have an opinion, but its probably that defense needs to be increased meaning he's closer to the neo-con position.
I'm close to arguing as Lee, and I shouldn't, so let me put this on broader terms.
Global Warming (cap&trade +epa carbon regulations), Universal Healthcare, and the Stimulus (and I'll toss in TARP and the upcoming stimulus2) are each much more expensive than the defense bill. They demand criticism.
Defense spending isn't high on the list of financial concerns given the war. When the war ends, defense budgets will decrease and concern about defense spending will rise again.
Defense is a myriad of small wasteful details scattered with many good details wrapped in a large good idea - that a military is a necessary expense to maintain peace. This may be annoying, but isn't antithetical to the libertarian view.
Cap&Trade, Universal Healthcare, and Stimulus are all bad ideas, regardless of details, from the libertarian perspective - literally antithetical to the core. I am not surprised to see them given focus and defense spending given little attention.
I've been wondering why.. HTWW prefers to lower corporate tax rates.. does that mean he wishes to also lower the oceanic defense world wide.
You can't cut those revenue sources (taxes) and keep defending there imports from foreign nations.
In a video I'd rather shoot myself than watch his videos .. he whined how Obama should do more to defend the international water in response to the kidnapped Mearsk and Somalia pirates. I probably butchered the name.. but you have your answer.
If there is a reason a good majority of the youtube community doesn't really like Mr.Doren is because he is essentially destroying the opportunity for a clear political dialog for his motivation of getting money from youtube.
What's really sad is that he doesn't even realize why people liked his open vlog to John Green video compared to his current format of making videos. He doesn't understand that he is being a shock jock on youtube parroting stories without any investigation creating outrage
One the main problems I had with Lee is that even though he had links, many just led to some random blog and not a real credible source. Some of what he says makes sense, but you can find these points from an Economics 101 text book and he kinda condescends when making these points.
I don't think he is as bad as say Rush Limbaugh, but he has sensationalized enough to make me be weary of him.
I think people on the right like you should have more of a voice when comes to these right wing CONT
I completely agree with your assessment axlman5. It is unfortunate that it is always the fringe that gets the soapbox while those regardless of party who are rationalists don't. I'm sure Mr.Doren as a person is a good guy but what he does with his show really brings out the ugly side of him.
Right now as a personal critic to the republican party is that they still need to examine themselves and go back to the philosophy of people like Edmund Burke.
If there is anything this last election showed me is that it is no longer enough to just ride on the boiler plate talking points. For the first time in a long time and for the better, both parties are going to have to be more specific in what they would like to do in office. By being specific I really think republicans can win but I have yet to see this on both the state and federal level.
Lower taxes? How much and why?
That is the dialog politics needs now but I'm not seeing it by republican
@axlman5, I have a distain for HTWW because he's incredibly dishonest and deliberately misleading, all the while with both hands out ebegging for donations.
As for my politics I'm a pragmatic, far left or far right depending.
Legalize/control/tax drugs/prostituion not to encourage use, but because the war on these things is too costly and unwinnable.
I like my guns.
I'm for universal health care because it works better, costs less and covers everyone.

1. Yes HTWW claims to be a libertarian conservative, but in reality he's a bought and paid for industrial imperialist
2. The US military budget is about equal to all other countries' military budgets combined
3. HTWW is BureauCrash's sole employee. He's not busy.
4. HTWW is misleading, if not outright lying as per usual and knows it

@axlman5, I can respect a point of view without having to agree with, but HTWW's continual dishonest in my opinion makes him liability.
HTWW spends far more time promoting his channel then Bureaucrash or ceidotorg. Just compare these 3 youtube channels.
I believe HTWW is an industrial imperialist, as he advocates freedoms for large corporations not individuals.
HTWW works for CEI appears to be a marketing firm for big oil, the health industry, etc. Big corporate interests.
ZangaroZen 2 years ago
Bureaucrash hired him specific because of HHTW. He's made a name for himself independently, and it's that name they value.
He is a libertarian, assuming you allow some minor disagreements in the positions (and every libertarian I know has said they do).
Having no opinion on defense could be he doesn't have time or desire to get informed on the details
Do we need increases in defense spending? Sure, but we need cuts too! What to cut? What needs more? That's a lot of detail work.
