  • he should give Alex smith a prep talk

  • He won 4 rings so one more year would have been 5. But 16 years and still nothing like the man. He came a long way from a man who walked around with braces on his legs.

  • Man shoulda stayed for one more season..... 6th ring baby

  • I was there in 1995. I will never forget it. Over 5,000 people turned out.

  • Hey, does anyone know what the melody's name playing as background is?

  • Niners Forever!!! I had the greatest honor in meeting Joe Montana back in March and I just have to say, WOW!!! I'll never forget that moment again! Joe, you'll always be the best quarterback, best football player, and best representation of the NFL!!!

  • I hate Leonard Marshall for his cheap shot in the 1990 NFC title game. He intentionally broke one of Montana's fingers.

  • Some players might have had better stats and some might have had more comebacks but looking across the field at the other team and their Quarterback, there wouldnt be one I feared any more then Joe Montana and the 49ers.

  • A little Overrated, just a little.

I mean come on guys, he had great great talent on his teams.

  • @gfscarface13 In 1981 the 49ers had no running game, no tight end, patchwork o-line, three rookies in the secondary. He still won the super bowl. In 1982 the 49ers were a mess. Joe's numbers were amazing. In 1986 Joe came back from back surgery, after only two months. From 1988 to 1990 Joe looked as if he could complete passes at will. No way is Montana overrated. He may not have had Morino's arm or Elway's athletic ability, but he was still the best.

  • @zazozung I said, just a little bit, I doubt Joe Montana would win 2 more rings without the great talent of the late 80's niners.

Elway is the Greatest QB Ever in my opinion, and I cant stand the broncos. Coming from a non-bias opinion.

  • @gfscarface13 I wont argue about Elway. He may very well have been the best ever. He was certainly the best athelete to ever play QB. But he did turn in some not so great performances in his first three super bowls.

  • @zazozung An he won the SB only after he had a big time running game, a moustrous OL and a superstar like Terrell Davis. Don't get me worng, I hate the fucking Broncos but that team was very, very, very good.

  • @gfscarface13 lmao. shows how much u know. montanas first 2 superbowls was with average players. he didnt get rice and taylor or jones til his 3rd superbowl. john elway had talent but he wasnt good enough to win his first 3 superbowls. he choked in those games. Montana shined when it mattered. Even the NFL network agrees that montana is the greatest QB and number 4 greatest player ever. Elway aint even up there.

  • @chauncy817 " john elway had talent but he wasnt good enough to win his first 3 superbowls. he choked in those games"

LMFAO, shows how much you know, LOL, wow, what a moron you are. the niners hat alot more talent than elway. The NFC dominated the AFC in the 80's & 90's, NFL Experts would disagree with you that Elway had inferior talent than Montana.

You sound like a moron with no facts. Dont even bother replying back.

  • @zazozung Amen Brother!

  • Absolutely the greatest clutch QB of all time.

  • @theJDMVP ....yes sir! "The Greatest QB"

  • @elculochulo Negative sir! When Jerry Rice was drafted, Montana had already TWO Super Bowls won!

Another fact about Montana: NEVER lost back to back home playoff games...Brady has lost last two! Vs. Jets/Ravens!

  • joe is the best ever not because of his untouchable accomplishments...but becoz he made everybody believe he will lead the team to victory (which he did)& he made all his teammates want to play their best at all times. Not to mention every pass he ever threw was on the fkin money everytime. He was a true HERO

  • I hate saying this, because i hate the niners. But he was the best.

    EVER

  • The greatest QB to ever play. Brady should. Never be mentioned in the same sentence. Montana never lost a super bowl.

  • The greatest of all!!

  • Brady is the next in line to challenge Joe as the best. Key word is CHALLENGE. He isn't there yet, but could be by the time he is done.

  • so true THEJDMVP.

this guy is the real deal.

I need to see brady score a TD in the last drive of SB to start thinking he is the best.

Payton M. was in that position a few years ago, they need a TD and he got an INT.

so yeha MONTANA the one and only

  • I hate Tom Brady, but he is a better QB than Montana.

  • @jtp0711 nope he is not.

  • Brady who? Aing got nothing on Joe

  • My boyhood hero he was awsome, the man

  • I love Joe Montanas demeanour.

  • U.U

  • what about troy aikman cant believe think peyton better than him joe cool is the greatest qb of all time

  • I remember when George Siefert got to the podium the crowd booed him. John Madden said it best - he's the greatest quarterback of all time. Of course it doesn't hurt to have great receivers, running backs, tight ends, O-line, the best defensive ends, linebackers, safeties, and cornerbacks helping you. Lots of 49ers have at least three rings. It was an amazing run.

  • I am a Die hard to the bone Philadelphia Eagle fan but this man Joe Montana is my favorite Quarterback of all time.

  • don't forget Johnny Unitas

  • joe the greatest of all time second tom bRADY AND THE REST DON'T MATTER

  • lmao did that music actually come in like that in the ceremony?even joe looked like he had a face like "o jesus thats too much"

  • Joe Cool, Peyton, and John Elway are the best quarterbacks ever

  • @r3v3r3nd2008 don't forget brady

  • @funnycomedyBoom yea, i have hate for Tom cause im a life-long colts fan :P, but he is an all-time great.

    arguably at least #2

  • 4 GAMES, 4 SB WINS NO INT...... JUST AMAZING...

  • Easily the best football player to ever step on the field u just couldn't beat him

  • the only person that could maybe be compared to joe montana is sam bradford

  • @kwfbrand If he does something. Don't count your chickens yet.

  • maybe, just maybe, Tom it´s the best QB in this moment, but Joe it´s the gratest

  • montana magic

  • ladies and gentleman, your highness, joe montana

  • hes a ringgold ram!

  • The NFL didn't start changing the rules for QB's when defenses were injuring Montana kept hitting him hard. He took it. The best ever! Yea he also had the best ever at receiver, and that helps as well. But he was bringing teams from behind to score the GW touchdown not FG's like Brady has with Adam V.. And he was doing it way back at Notre Dame.

  • @triofdoom Note also, that when he first started, he didn't have Jerry Rice and endured a losing season. Then broke out with Freddie Solomon and Dwight Clark. None of which are HoFers. His first year, he led that amazing comeback win against New Orleans.

Steve was a great QB, but he had everything set up for him coming in.

Tom Brady? Good QB, but still following in Montana's footsteps.

  • Steve Young, much better.

  • No... the Tom Brady rule is the best joke ever!

  • Tom Brady is the best ever

  • @ilovefrankandbeans your fucking retarded. hes just trying to be a wannabe Joe Montana

  • Wow truly the best off all time no doubt and I am a FUCKIN ELWAY FAN!!!!!

  • What makes Joe different from any other quarterback is that he had both talent and wit on the football field and he delivered when it mattered the most. In other words he is still the best clutch quarterback who ever played the game. He's got 4 rings to back that up baby!!!

  • im comment less.

  • The greatest ever

  • Peyton manning does more with less than any qb in history

  • @ferrarimike23 apparently youve never heard of dan marino. he had who? mark duper? please

  • Manning is the biggest fucking whiner in nfl history.

  • @Renagade1325 Manning actually doesn't whine at all, and I've never heard him whine on air either, so I have no fucking clue what you're smoking.

  • Simply the best.

  • A sad day. We miss ya Joe. Even people that hated the team respected your ability as a QB. There never was a better player.

  • @Axel1617 Some beut. words man.

  • So many players and coaches where so happy when joe retired. Because now they had a chance to Win again.LOL Really. Every year he only got better.

  • Im gonna cry all over again. :(

  • No, He is not the greatest, but BArt Starr and him sit equally! It is quality of carachter that counts!

  • @fozngrace

Bart was good, but not even close to Montana.

  • we were high school team mates.....

  • simply in a class by himself|for me THE greatest of all time,as a young man and as football player he was a role model for me!thanks for the vid starman417

  • Those who assume Bradshaw won his 4 rings due to D please watch TERRY BRADSHAW HIGHLIGHT video, his D didn't make him SB MVP twice, NFL MVP, get him in the HOF first ballot or make HOF LB Ham say he wouldn't have 4 rings without Terry. Those who think Joe didn't have a great D. SF D was ranked # 2,3, 4, and 10 all the years Joe won SBs and they held Dan Marino to 16 points, John Elway to 10 points and 2 top Cincy Offenses lead by Pro Bowl QBs Ken Anderson and Boomer Esiason to 20 and 16 points.

  • This is one classy guy. Montana is a LEGEND.

I even bought those ugly ass skecher shape up shoes just because he said so!

  • Im not a elway fan, in fact I hate the broncos, but John Elway is the Greatest QB Ever.

Championships rings dont tell you everything guys. John Elway could have won 4 rings too in the 80's if he had that Great Supporting cast Montana had.

  • But , Brett Favre is a pussy. He cant throw, he cant run, he doesnt even know if he's retired or not. He's a greasebag!

  • whenever i see the number 16, i think of mr. joe montana

  • im not a 49ers fan but joe was a legend, cant say anything bad about this man

  • simply the greatest....PERIOD

    no other better qb...

seriously...not elway no aikman not manning

    noone

  • What a role model!!!I think there's onle one maybe once in a lifetime.I'm so proud of what he did he my not have cried but i did. THANKS JOE FOR ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES THEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

  • the two best quarterbacks of all time two me are joe cool and Unitas

  • @ gfbuttface13 ...¿ignorance? what the heck are you talking about?

    simply stated facts!

you pissed about the "brady lost SP and he never relied on kickers". It's true...go look up SP XXIII ... he had 3mins left and KNEW he could tie with a field goal but wanted to score a TD to give Bengals zero chance. He even talked about it on the BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW about that!!!!

  • He is good but, you have to remember he also had a great team Roger Craig,Jerry Rice The list goes on and on-49er Fan

  • @FilipinoFlare Maybe, but look what he did with my 92'-94' Chiefs. Besides Allen, he had no one on offense, and he took that team within one game of the Super Bowl.

  • @FilipinoFlare FYI, Montana already won a Super Bowl before Craig and Rice entered the league.

  • Best ever. Out of all the retirement quaterback speeches I've seen. Joe is the only one who didn't cry.

  • @Thedearster i see it as a great experiance if you cry bro. how do you not cry. your leaving your life. you had nothing but football and now u need to leave it. im not saying hes heartless but its suprising he didnt cry. i would.

  • Montana: only player in HISTORY w/3 SP MVP's

Montana: beat Marino, Elway, and Boomer head to head

    Montana: 11 TD's ZERO int's in Super Bowl's

Montana: NEVER blew 10 point lead in SP (like Manning did vs. Saints)

Montana: NEVER LOST in SP (Brady) or relied on kickers like him

  • @6forrestgump9: Word

  • @6forrestgump9 Thats a Stupid Comment on you. literally. Wow, the ignorance on people is too funny.

  • @6forrestgump9

    Hahaha.

Let's not forget he had Bill Walsh, Jerry Rice and a perennially ranked top-5 defense to help him out.

QBs don't win super bowls, great teams like the 49ers do.

  • @swootwan ...provide your facts.

  • greatest ever

  • you're on the money with favre..he uses the media as his bitch and montana was so classy when he went to the chiefs. they don't make them like that anymore. I would have said Payton M. is in that mold, but he lost a superbowl...too bad, so sad, bye bye

  • The Greatest QB of all time

  • @TheJDMVP Agreed.

  • Royalclass,

The reason Montana is the best of all time is, he played better and better as the games became more important. Check out his SuperBowl Stats, 11 Td's and 0 INT and the most important stat, 4-0 in SuperBowl games as a starting QB.

The fact is, Farve has made critical mistakes in big playoff games that has cost his team wins. All you have to do is look back at this year's NFC Championship game against New Orleans!

  • and also the giants

  • and let's not forget the Eagles in 2003!

  • and the broncos in 98 lol

  • and let us not forget the 6 INT's against the Rams in 200! Any other questions, royalclass?

  • @btez31 Montana won more Super bowls because of the offensive systems and the great players he was surrounded by, not because of any extraordinary talent on his part. Favre also has never missed in game in his career because of injury. All hail the mighty Favre!

  • @royalclass23548 = EPIC FAIL!

  • @royalclass23548 i luv both qbs

  • My poor Falcons. lol

  • Simply put, the best QB of ALL TIME!!!!!

  • your a fuckin retard, dont watch football

  • @royalclass23548 Farve dont have nothing on montana. You are crazy you can start by counting the rings!!! Damn how many times has farve blew a game ah yes check the saints game out...

  • first of all tom brady didnt win his first superbowl as a rookie so get your facts straight b4 you leave a comment it was his second season and he came off the bench to replace drew bledsoe, he drove the bitch ass patriots like 35 yards almsot any qb could have done that. and with every superbowl brady won the team ad to rely on adam vinateri. in any case he was the key factor not brady and without him they would have won 0 superbowls

  • ...and a video camera to spy on the other team.

  • @SeinfeldBlows1 Brady drove them more than 35 yds...John Madden was saying the Patriots should take a knee and not risk a turnover with such bad field position and little time left...Brady made some big plays under pressure as a 22,23 year old and put them in FG range...It was Montana esque

  • snifff sniff joeee

  • He took the Chiefs to the 1993 AFC title game. The two games before where both classics. A last second pass in the end zone to beat Pittsburgh, then an amazing comeback vs Warren Moon and the Oilers.

  • Best QB ever, hands down, no-brainer. Amazingly smart, 'Joe Cool', great accuracy, exudes charisma, not an asshole or a pussy...

it's no wonder he won 4 Super Bowls.

(*1, I'm a RAIDERS fan, no bias here. 2, Tom Brady bought Joe's jock strap off ebay so he could pretend to be the greatest. Sad.)

  • Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana are the only 2 QB's to win 4 SB's, too bad Terry Bradshaw is underrated

  • Tom Brady can't hold Joe's jock. Best Qb to ever play the game. Joe Cool.

  • Tom Brady won a Superbowl when he was a rookie and his team was 14 point underdogs and Brady drove them down the field with under 2 minutes left in the superbowl for the winning FG

Montana was the Favorite in every superbowl

Brady plays in the afc east...Lousy weather

    joe played in Sunny candlestic

    advantage Brady

  • lol

  • Hmmmmm Joe drove the niners down the field for the winning touchdown in the superbowl & Beat the Bears in their backyard in freezing cold conditions in the NFC championship!!! So whos got the edge? Btw....... Joe played his college ball in notre dame where the weather is really bad also....... Lol!!!

  • @lonalo7 Yeah But Joe Did'nt put up gawdy passing yards like Marino so who cares what weather he played in ???

And Marino played at the university of Pittsburgh......so whats your point lol

  • @lilbrother45 i agree about him being the best qb ever. but i disagree about brady, i think brady is G-R-E-A-T

  • @lilbrother45 shoot brady will tell u the same thing. montana was his idol. No matter what in ur head u will never b as good as ur idol. Montana is the King

  • @lilbrother45 Most Definately, Super Joe No 16 on your scorecard No 1 in your heart

  • Best QB ever by a long shot

  • was montana traded to the 49ers so he could retire as a niner?? i know that happened for J Rice...

  • Joe Montana was my favorite player back when he played with the 49ers and coach bill walsh. r.i.p. coach bill walsh.

  • montana was pertty fast running too..he movedvery good outside the pocket as well...what more can you ask..the greatest

  • i had a beer with joe montana a few months ago

  • this is how you retire with some grace and dignity he had nothing left to prove unlike that fuckin crybaby pussy brett favre

  • Seriously!!!!!!!!, I just wish Brett Favre would fuckin' make up his mind already!!!!!!!!!, it's like "I'm retiring and coming back" over and over again, he just turned 40, he has nothing to prove anymore, he should be proud of the fact that he has at least 1 SB ring from 1996.

  • You know Brett is going to be the MVP this year right?

    Just saying.

Anyway, I miss Montana...niners need another number 16.

  • We had the great #16, had #8, #5 and now we have the up and coming great #11

  • ha, i'm not sure Alex is going to be a great quarterback, but he is relatively getting the job done so far. Thankfuly with west coast you don't need the Drew Brees stats to win....just be accurate, take what the defense gives, and hand it to Gore often.

  • He's been showing potential lately and greatness takes time

We can never know how good he can become until that time comes

  • True, he did show he learned a lot on the bench, which is key for most quarterbacks.

  • Brett Favre is not going to win MVP this season. He lost the MVP Award with the Arizona lost, 2 Interceptions in the lost. Typical of Brett Favre in Big Games & Playoffs Throwing Interceptions.

Peyton Manning or Drew Brees will win the MVP, depends how the season ends with their teams and stats.

  • That's one game...and he still has less interceptions than Manning.

  • Yeah but Peyton Manning & Drew Brees teams are Undeafeated and Putting up better numbers than Choke Artist Brett Favre.

Its a Toss up between them Peyton & Drew who ever wins out better record rest of season.

Basically these last 4 games will dictate who wins the MVP.

I hope Choke Artist doesn't win it.

  • I'm not a Brett fan either, Drew and Peyton are doing awesome but I just think the Vikings rely on Favre more than the Colts and Saints on Manning and Brees.

  • Yeah but Brett lost it with the Arizona lost and if hes going to win the MVP he better not throw Interceptions more than TD's down the Stretch.

Plus Manning & Brees teams are Undeafeated. I think the Team last still Undefeated will win the MVP for their QB.

  • yeah but everyone knows peyton manning is THE smartest football player in the game. he calls all his own plays and if u look at some of his interceptions its really just luck on the defenders part. also he is 14-0 as of now

  • I live in Indy so I am lucky enough to see every Colts game; some of those passes were just garbage. Of course without Manning there is no way the Colts would be where they are now. I just believe it more with Brett and the Vikings. Also, Brett does have a better passer rating as of right now.

  • Nice Superbowl winning TD pass Manning had to Tracey Porter...stuff of legends....now only if they played on the same team

  • @arniejck u mad

  • fuck off montana blower

  • @arniejck i love joe but for anyone to call brett favre a pussy, well thats just foolish.

  • @arniejck

    Best comment ever.

  • @arniejck you couldnt suck the shit out of Brett Favres asshole motherfucker. Fuck you prick! What have you done in your life, bitchtits?

  • Grace, dignity, and what a CLASS act! Love you Joe! Football has never been the same since you retired.

  • @arniejck shut the fuck up brett just doesnt want to leave I dont have anything against joe but fuck you pussy

  • Most this most that. Statistics are horseshit except this one : 'Most everything' while being fitted for 4 Super Bowl Rings.

  • Comment removed

  • It's the way he played that made him the greatest QB ever, dumbass. You want to talk about stats look what he did when it mattered in the playoffs and Superbowls, as seeing how he holds most playoff and superbowl records that I doubt anyone will touch. He wasn't a little bitch like crybaby bitch Farve. They built a dynasty around him and won 2 superbowls without the greatest receiver. Get the facts right, imbecile.Reggie White won a superbowl for crybaby bitch Farve.

  • What an emotional outburst. My point was, you goofy bastard, that Joe did not have the All Time everything Stats, but he was the very best because he had the most important Stats.... Look before you leap. I like your enthusiasm though. Now target it at someone that disagrees with you...... Not only was Montana the very best---he played when the League was most competitive, the 80's. There were many great teams unlike now.

  • There will never be another montana....A true hero of mine....Cool joe...Although buds of mine are saying Flacco may be the next joe....i doubt it.....best wishes Cool joe and may he always be a icon for not the 49ers....but for the NFL.

  • As a Giants fan i gotta say, Joe was awesome. The guy never cried, never talked trash and played like a champion.

  • Does anybody remember the Philadelphia game when Montana threw to Rice and Taylor?

  • what is the name of the music in the backround showing his highlights?

  • The music is "Fanfare for the Common Man," composed by Aaron Copland.

  • Good Memories!! #1 QB

  • JOE COME BACK OR ELSE ILL TAKE DOWN ALL MY PHOTOS OF YOU...you know ill never do that

  • I hope & pray Nick follows his old man's footsteps & makes it to the nfl & becomes a hof qb for the 49ers...Is that too much too ask?

  • I've been a 49ers fan for over 20 years and I've NEVER followed college ball...until NOW! Next year...I'll be a HUSKIES fan! Go NICK!

  • MONTANA #1

  • Joe needs to come out of retirement.

  • Montana is not only the greatest quarterback of all time but the greatest football player of all time.

  • @ballisticbliss ahh come on that's Jerry Rice

  • him and fouts were the two greatest in the 80's.

but fouts never went to a superbowl

  • Joe Montana is the best...fuck the rest

  • Montana,Manning,Brady,Bradshaw,Favre,Elway, Aikman, Staubach, Tarkenton, Marino........

    MONTANA at #1 for me...

  • no matter which team you love. you have to remember joe montana dominated his era of football no question.

he is one of the best to ever throw the ball.

  • Joe is the greatest to ever play quarterback, fuck all bitches who say Favre is, stats don't mean shit, it's the way Joe played the game that made him the greatest, just like Michael Jordon and Jerry Rice.

  • Joe's numbers didn't go through the roof until he had Rice.

    Rice even made Young great.

Montana was great before Rice, winning 2 SBs, but he wasn't An ALL TIme great till Rice.

  • joe motana is the best qaurterback to ever play football period! as a giants fan i would never compare ya tittle or phil simms to him. hes way better than the overated brady and peyton manning. hes the real deal.

  • Joe Montana was great because of his ability to read defense during crunch time. Tom Brady is good too but until he wins another Superbowl. Montana still #1

  • he had jerry rice...
