1:20 "Outside the Village?" "What's outside the Village?" `... Haha, Crysta is like the Village in The Prisoner (1967-1968).
Also... the name Crysta...
Crysta = Christ ... Jesus is obviously the Sun, and if Ark is too then it's fitting that he lives in a town called Christ ... So, it's the Town of Christ... which is Ark.
@AeternaVeritatis Actually the name for Crysta in the Japanese version is Kristallholm, as a mirror to the surface's Stockholm (or Storkolm in the English version)
Yes I know it's a mirror, but... that's kind of beside the point.
It's obvious that at face value Crysta is meant to be Crystal (and Kristall is swedish for Crystal), but Cryst & Krist is the same, and the word Christ can have spellings like that. Cristo, Kristus, for example.
The people living in the village in The Prisoner never go outside the Village etc, they just happily live in their own little world, ignorant of that there may be something outside.
Ark having to conquer 5 towers has significance... I don't quite remember the original thought I had about that but... 5 can have maany meanings. But 5 of course is E, and the 5th element (going above the 4)...
“In occultism the 'E' is very important because it represents the 5th essence or the quintessence. It represents spiritual power of transcendence. So you will always find something in a corporate logo that will tweak the 'E' for a reason." ... yeah, look at Intel, Google, Dell, Acer...
Ark is likely the Sun... He goes around the world, saving it, like the Sun.
Look at his hair, it's yellow/golden. If you wanna make the Sun symbolized into a human you often mess with the head (Jesus with the sun behind his head for example).
ARK equals 12 in numerology. 12 normally would be reduced to 3, but in this case... Think of the 12 signs, which the sun passes thru.
Terranigma is a great game, it's nice to watch it all again. Love the captions. XD Anyone notice the smilie face on the tower as it goes down at 2:15? :)
I wonder if it would have been more symbolic (to help the symbolism) to make Ark go down maybe 20-40 flights of stairs, with it getting darker, and the screen getting more tinted with red the further below ground you got.
Maybe. But it also would've been extremely tedious. Even if you played that part only once in your life. So, I can see why Quintet opted against doing that (assuming that it was on the table in the first place ;)!)

Or maybe he could have fallen into a deep, deep hole, with mud at the bottom. It was probably on the table at some point.
