  • He looks like John Daley's brother.

  • just a quick think on the sevices jon went from the radio point but her husband is a producer and she is a reviewer so she must watch his sows to review them

  • This schmuck had the disagreeable task of making babies with her.

  • @IEnjoyHippies Was Dick Ever on the Panel himself? Yes. One night in late 195osomething, the panel consisted of Arlene Francis, Martin Gabel, Dorothy Kilgallen, Dick Kollmar. Wife husband times 2.

  • Wow he has a lovely voice!

  • "Oh a question of talent rather than sex." Whatever you say, dear.

  • @IEnjoyHippies Yep, just look up What's My Line Tab Hunter.

  • That's all that was made public until 1979 when "Kilgallen" by Lee Israel included details from the medical examiner's report of Richard Kollmar's death. They say he took an overdose of several different medications, an overdose so massive that the mucosa of his stomach was severely irritated. The overdose Dorothy had taken five years and two months earlier caused "only mild irritation." That's assuming she took it voluntarily.

  • "Would I be more likely to use your services" lmfao!!! I love how suggestive that sounds and how they had that sort of lighthearted suggestive humor back then without actually saying what it implies, or dressing the part. This is actually funnier than the stuff they show on TV and in the movies these days in which everyone is blatantly sexual. I love this show :)

  • In her public statement, which Anne gave to Boston - based syndicated columnist Marian Christy (Google her), Anne just said Dick's personal doctor was present in their brownstone when he died, and she was in another part of the house. She did not reveal anything about the cause of death, but she did volunteer that Dick had broken his shoulder recently -- New Years Day 1971. Obituaries said he died in his sleep. That's all that was made public until 1979 when "Kilgallen" by Lee Israel ...

  • Busting out laughing!!!

  • @JubalCalif I'm sorry to disagree with you but it wasn't Dick who committed suicide, it was Chester Morris, the actor who initially played Boston Blackie on TV and radio before Dick Kollmor. Thanks anyway for the information.

  • @JubalCalif Sorry i replied you and made an error due to coincidence. I attempted to correct you thinking that It wasn't Dick Kollmar who killed himself but Chester Morris the earlier actor (Radio and TV) who also portrayed the character Boston Blackie. It seems that both Chester and Dick killed themselves by overdose, Chester 1970 and Dick 1971. How freaky is that? luckily I cancelled my reply and avoided any embarrassment. LOL!

  • @izegaegbe

No problem! I always love the insightful & informative info you share with us! Hope you've having a super groovy week so far! Keep a song in your heart & a smile on your face! :)

  • @JubalCalif said 10 months ago: "Dick Kollmar was also active in radio, being the voice of many years of 'Boston Blackie'. Sadly, he committed suicide in the 70's by taking an overdose of barbituates after his wife's death. "

Which wife ? In June of 1967 Dick Kollmar, widower of Kilgallen, married dress designer Anne Fogarty. According to the only public statement Anne made about Dick's 1971 death, it happened in front of his personal physician. Obituaries said he "died in his sleep."

  • Just listen to the panel's reaction when told to put their masks on. They sound like they've just been informed that they'll have to undergo root canal surgery. Was it really such an ordeal to wear their masks?

  • I'm sorry, but Mr. Allen scares the crap out of me - he looks so different than what he did before.

  • before what? he looks the same as he always did. to me, anyway.

  • 3:56

6:53 -- Three beats of a pause and thunder. The connotation is in everyone's minds, but the CBS censors must have nearly bit through the stems of their pipes.

"Breakfast with Dorothy and Dick" was the radio show 1945 - 1963; "Boston Blackie (1944 - 1950) available on OTR

His Ziegfeld Follies opened and closed in Boston in 1956. Why?? -- what a cast! Tallulah dahling, Carol Haney, Bea Arthur, Julie Newmar, and Z Girls.

  • November 1955 -- an all star night with Mr. Dorothy Kollmar, artist George Petty, and mystery guest Garry Moore.

One of those rare times when Cerf sat in the first seat -- and Dorothy Kilgallen sat in the last seat, hopefully to introduce Daly since she got so few opportunities to do that.

"I could I avail myself of your services?"

"Why couldn't I enjoy what you do?" Oh boy LOL. the producers must have been in seventh heaven.

  • THAT was a hoooot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much! :) It's been a long time since such an entertaining episode!

  • Classic! ty for posting

  • I enjoyed seeing this! Dick fooled them!

I love seeing the spouses as mystery guests!

    Thank you for posting!

  • Dorothy asked is she could avail herself of his service. As her husband he should have said yes. *wink*wink*

  • That a great show - thanks for sharing this episode with us; I don't remember ever seeing this one before -- the way he disguised his voice was absolutely amazing.

  • Ohh, I've been wanting to see this one.

  • It's a question of talent rather than sex. How fitting that Dorothy said that.
