I disagree with the control problems. I mean yea it is a little hard to control at some points but its kinda rare. I picked this game up and was instantly able to free run just as well as I can now.

If you know where you want to go, step by step while free running, it's easy. People get into trouble when they just hold all the buttons down and expect Ezio to do everything for them.

The biggest problem with the free run controls is hardware. I had a tough time too, but that's because my controller is too finnicky. Using the keyboard removes a lot of the frustration for some things like the tombs, but it's the keyboard!
I'm still looking for a better controller that doesn't go from 0-100% with the first 5% of the analog range of movement. The problem happens when you aren't perfectly straight, and the controller picks up direction input. Bleh.

The controls are not "FINICY" you probably kept hitting the wrong button or moved Ezio in the wrong direction, also the voice actiong and combat in AC1 is realy good. You also didn't mention anything about the new features in this game, like 2 hidden blades, blending, renovating buildings and new fighting moves. you shouldn't judge something just off your own opinion when reviewing.
you echoed all of my problems: the controls! They are too sensitive and since you use A to jump, hide and to grab in some parts Ezio will sometimes do things that we don't want....wow, so someone agrees with me. Also, I thought the score was good but nothing great

@xkaizin Play it on the PC, camera controls suck ass, completely not optimized, it snaps instead of turning. Ezio tends to jump down when you're holding space for free-running instead of going up, in AC1, Altair would always prefer the higher target if you used free-running mode and lower if you just ran in high-profile. They screwed up on this part. Also, in AC2 (fixed in :BH) if the camera turns (or is forced to) then Ezio changes direction, usually jumping off a building or a platform puzzle.
@MrCameronWoodyard you are a noob that doesent understand what that means. you can aproach your target anyway you want and there is no game over unless you die. in AC2 you get gameover if you are detected , if you lose your target or time missions thats crap and no realism.
in AC 1 if you get detected they raise the alarm and you just have to fight to your target or chase it.
One thing I hate about reviews is when the reviewer gives you his own personal opinion, just give me enough content and game play coverage and I will give it my own rating you God damn nazis. What makes them so special?
I think the voice acting and story were pretty good in AC 1 And the Free-runnig was not hard at all to learn, especially when you have played the first, it's very intuitive.
Its a great game but I wouldn't buy it if your a hardcore gamer, You should rent it. Cause I got all trophie/achievements in 7 days of play and had all the best items ingame and then the gameplay started to get boring but it was a VERY awesome game for a week. :D
I noticed that I really don't need all the new armor and new weapons. Game is too easy, and Brotherhood looks to follow that. You're an assassin, not terminator!
why do so many reviewers hate the controls? Every review i see they bitch about the controls, and how Ezio "has a mind of his own".... bullshit.. They were silky smooth and damn near perfect to me... Sure in the beginning, i was over-shooting jumps from time to time, but thats because i never played the first... once u get into it, the controls are perfect. Its directional sensitive, meaning, u have to pay attention to what u r doing instead of just mindless jumping from ledge to ledge...
I think these reviewers complaining about the controls just suck at the game quite frankly... because once i got into the game, i was effortlessly running and jumping from buildings, and assassinating people.. Don't criticize a game because you fail at controlling it.

lol the free-running is pretty easy to learn, I already controlled it in the mission where you have to deliver some letters, and that's like what, the fourth mission you actually use free-run?(I'm not counting the boys will be boys mission because you dont have to free-run over there)
It's understandable as to why the free running was difficult. To me it was frustrating when i had to race Fredrico to the top of the church i would climb half way then jump away in a completely different direction like a spazzing Jacky Chan. But, after a while i became used to the freestyle and it's not a problem.

Why four you ask? there's no challenge in this game whatsoever. You'll play it through very quickly and without much difficulty, the only hard part is to get all collectables, which is about as rewarding as searching your room for every single piece of dust that there is. Totally OKAY game, but nothing spectacular. RENT IT.
i've gotta say, i found free running easy, i felt like a ninja running around the city. but i did have majorcomplaints with the replay value. sure it took me a while to finish, but once i had, there was no multiplayer, and the story was far too long for me to be arsed to complete again, aswell as some of the collectables taking far too long to get all of them. but thats just my opinion. all i can say is that im so glad they've brought in multiplayer for brotherhood, which looks really fun.
i actully found the free running very easy. The thing that could have made it hard was forgetting to press B after you jump to cling onto a nearby ledge. Otherwise i really liked this game and give it 2 thumbs WAY UP. I definetly recommend this game to anyone who like action and a great storyline.
I can't even fathom free running being difficult. There is no simpler way of moving around so creatively than holding two buttons and just changing direction.

Its a great game but I wouldn't buy it if your a hardcore gamer, You should rent it. Cause I got all trophie/achievements in 7 days of play and had all the best items ingame and then the gameplay started to get boring but it was a VERY awesome game for a week. :D

why do so many reviewers hate the controls? Every review i see they bitch about the controls, and how Ezio "has a mind of his own".... bullshit.. They were silky smooth and damn near perfect to me... Sure in the beginning, i was over-shooting jumps from time to time, but thats because i never played the first... once u get into it, the controls are perfect. Its directional sensitive, meaning, u have to pay attention to what u r doing instead of just mindless jumping from ledge to ledge...

I think these reviewers complaining about the controls just suck at the game quite frankly... because once i got into the game, i was effortlessly running and jumping from buildings, and assassinating people.. Don't criticize a game because you fail at controlling it.

Nice way to kiss ass, YOU CALL THOSE GREAT GRAPHICS? ARE YOU BLIND!? The character modelling, camera, EVERYTHING looks awful and poorly optimized, at least that's what I would expect from Ubisoft, they never got the graphics right...

lol the free-running is pretty easy to learn, I already controlled it in the mission where you have to deliver some letters, and that's like what, the fourth mission you actually use free-run?(I'm not counting the boys will be boys mission because you dont have to free-run over there)

It's understandable as to why the free running was difficult. To me it was frustrating when i had to race Fredrico to the top of the church i would climb half way then jump away in a completely different direction like a spazzing Jacky Chan. But, after a while i became used to the freestyle and it's not a problem.

Why four you ask? there's no challenge in this game whatsoever. You'll play it through very quickly and without much difficulty, the only hard part is to get all collectables, which is about as rewarding as searching your room for every single piece of dust that there is. Totally OKAY game, but nothing spectacular. RENT IT.

i've gotta say, i found free running easy, i felt like a ninja running around the city. but i did have majorcomplaints with the replay value. sure it took me a while to finish, but once i had, there was no multiplayer, and the story was far too long for me to be arsed to complete again, aswell as some of the collectables taking far too long to get all of them. but thats just my opinion. all i can say is that im so glad they've brought in multiplayer for brotherhood, which looks really fun.

i actully found the free running very easy. The thing that could have made it hard was forgetting to press B after you jump to cling onto a nearby ledge. Otherwise i really liked this game and give it 2 thumbs WAY UP. I definetly recommend this game to anyone who like action and a great storyline.
