I feel like the movie was rushed to end..I'm sure there's more to it..lol...and why the kids...both kids were lovely....I hope they both live together in the end...
Everyone in the film was wrong headed and even wicked. Jeffrey fantasized about killing Elaine. "Haven't you ever fantasized?" ummm...no, not about killing my spouse. To me, Elaine was the villain of the piece. She was one sick manipulative twisted piece of work. Trolling the chat rooms pretending to be a gay man so she could attract Robert, and did so under more than one name. And pretending to be his dead lover? The only characters I feel bad for were the kids.
Elaine was a writer too, she was just fascinated with Roberts life story and lifestyle. I don't believe she was "trolling", i believe she was looking for material for a piece to write about.....but when Robert dropped the bomb, she just immediately and cunningly retaliated. She realized too that continuing to write under a pretense screen name she would accomplish two things.....more evidence to win a divorce case and an opportunity to seize back control of the situation.
so twisted indeed..poor jeffrey....he doesnt have a clue...elaine and robert were wrong here...at the end robert wins....he has jeffrey in the end...nice house of elaine and jeffrey....one episode of brothers and sisters were done in this same house...awesome.
@alexandriabanjoboy --well, Robert didn't want Jeffrey anymore, is the only thing. And he was shattered at the revelation that Elaine pretended to be his dead lover. I was surprised at his apparent lack of remorse re not only Elaine dying but the kids as well.
While it is possible that Elaine could have eaten the salad, I personally feel that she crashed her car and killed everyone on purpose to punish Jeffrey for his arrogance.
Interesting take......but I doubt it, only because when she found out he was toying with the idea of killing her, she fled the house....as if her life where in jeopardy. You may be right though, because not many people could eat the very same day they find out their marriage has dissolved. Clearly they wanted the ending to be open to debate.
Well, I have to take my hat off to the gods at Youtube. Their mania for licensing have chopped up this interesting movie so that virtually 90% of it is silent, without audio of any kind. why not just remove the whole thing as it's been rendered useless.
very sad! she didnt deserve to die. actually at the end one realises Robert's true character: he killed his partner without consent and based on wat i got from the movie mainly becuz he cudnt take it any longer, broke up a family without even being the least concerned abt the consequences, he was really only concerned abt his script. then he kills Elaine. and tho she did in a way screw him psychologically, it doesnt justify murder. in fact she did try to giv him closure.
Thanks to whoever posted this film. It was really great - I got sucked in after the first video. Wonderful acting and a very original storyline. Not sure about the ending though - I couldn't figure out whether the kids died or not.
I think the car crash had to be an accident, afterall she hadn't ate the salad at the time she was getting ready to board the car and i doubt that she ate it while she was driving, since who eats and drive? Great Movie though, not sure what to make of the ending, but that's life, things don't always work out nicely, logically or conveniently.
Ok, this is fucked up. I mean it's a good movie but in a grotesque kinda way. Why did she start out in the chat room anyways? N then mess with his head online? I got the feeling that Peter's character figured it out a bit before the end and I guess they both just messed with each other so much that robert felt the need to kill the wife? Poor kids, this is fucked up. Kinda when, yeah, go bi when the hubby said that he's bisexual. :D
ohhh dearr...wow...it was a good ending...its just him crying on the ground...was crappy..like if there was a white light or w/e...a glimpse of the car..
robert puts some root in her salad. whether this caused her to drive into a wall is left open to interpretation. check out the dvd it has the alternate ending too
Damn, my english isn´t that good and I did not understand wha happened in the end!!! Can someone tell me please!?? All died? Including the kids? Was it an accident? Or suicide? Was it Sarsgaard who killed them? If someone could tell me - that would be really really great!
Excuse my comment, apparently it isn't clear whether she drove into the wall on purpose or not. See the comments by MrM249. But she and the kids really did die.
What an awesome flick. I meant to catch this when it was out at the theater but it was only there a week. Thanks for uploading this. I'm a tad pissed that Patty's character was the one to go. I think the ending could've been better where no one had to die (cliche plot device) and they all could've just vented at one another but it was a really good flick nonetheless.
Thoroughly engaging, but a weaking ending. Kinda disappointing. I knew someone would die before it happened, but I thought it should have been Sarsgaard at the hands of either Clarkson or Scott. I knew the suicide attempt with the root wouldn't work.
I heard so many good things about this movie, didn't quite reach my expectations though. But Peter Saarsgaard is just perfect. Thanks for putting it on, I wouldn't have been able to see it otherwise!
It started off GREAT, and I think if it wasn't for the incredible acting from all three leads, I would really think I wasted almost two hours of my life here.
it doesn't suck, this was amazing!!! only once have i seen a movie like this, that is so fuckin real and different and so beautiful... it was Music of Chance.
it would seem like he put that root in her salad but that's pretty cruel, especially since the children and the babysitter were in the car. :/

I hate WMG so much. They disabled the sound on just about all the parts.

Everyone in the car died. If you turn up the volume a little where he starts talkin to the officer, he says it.

Wow... intense! I cant believe that he would kill her, but seeing as she totally messed with his head... eh.
Overall not bad of a storyline, but you know... I always wish for a happy ending. Though the ending for this was perfect for the situation given.

The woman died. She drove the car into a wall (with the kids inside the car.) Woman + Kids = Dead.
She essentially committed suicide, and took the kids along with her.

Excuse my comment, apparently it isn't clear whether she drove into the wall on purpose or not. See the comments by MrM249. But she and the kids really did die.

Duh. Robert put the poisonous plant into her salad. She ate it, drove, died and crashed the car. So the kids died too.

It didn't fit his character at all. It doesn't make sense...in 10 seconds he goes from "I'm gonna kill myself" to "no actually I'm gonna kill HER!"
It started out so good but it just spiraled into retardation at the end.
And yeah! how did she know all that shit anyway? She said something about hackers? She hacked his diary? What? What? Whatever.
