  • Hey, great review! I was cosidering getting one but hesitated since none of the guys at my dept use it. Where do you carry this light, will a Mag c-cell ring do? I'm thinking the grenade grip might prevent the light from being pulled out of the ring swiftly. Thanx, be safe.

  • @rightfulcop The Mag Light that I used in this comparison has been upgraded with the Terralux LED upgrade. It works great now. But the Pelican is still what I use the most. It fits fine in the keeper ring. And you are right, the grenade grip does make a slight difference in getting the light out. Since I originally got the light, there are more people getting it at my station.

  • i have one. its great.

  • I'm currently working with a MagCharger and I love how rugged it is, but I'm considering switching to the 8060. How would you rate it on ruggedness? My dad is a cop and used the Mag for years and loved that if need be it could be his baton (one less thing to carry) Could the 8060 be used the same way?

  • @IrishTechGod I also have a MagCharger (although I purchased the 700 Lumen Terralux upgrade for it) The Mag is definitly "beefier" and has the 'feel' to it given the extra weight. With that said; the Pelican still has metal fins (heat sinks) at the end. Also, the Pelican feels more like a mace because the weight seems to be at the end because of the metal fins. I broke out a window with the Pelican on my first swing. (automotive glass). I feel fine using it as a baton.

  • With your experience, as a Police Officer, would you recommend this for a firefighter?

  • @xtremehardy388 Definitly, yes. This thing lasts forever on a charge and it rugged.

  • @travelguy008 Thanks for the recommendation and thank you for your service as an officer of the law.

  • Whoa it has has an amazing burn time for it's power. I must get this for my patrols. thanks for the review

  • @mozezfreek777

    I got it! It's wonderful!

It ran for over 8 hours when I tested it.

  • Excellent review man. I personally own a 7060 as my duty light, and just recently picked up the 8060 for my squad car. I have yet to see a more versatile flashlight. From clearing a house to using it as a spot light for finding turds... I absolutely love it.

  • Both are good, but the maglite will be more expensive to operate frequently because of the bulbs that do not last very long.

  • excelent voice projection and great tech review..........

  • Just wondering you opinion, which do you think the 8060, the 7060, or the fenix tk40 is better?

  • @golfer19930 I've only ever used the 8060, magcharger, and the streamlight SL-20(which is my least favorite).. so I can't really say. Maybe someone else can comment.

  • @golfer19930

Take a look at the Fenix TK30 or TA21

    Just my two cents.

  • @golfer19930 I don't own the tk40, but from reading about it a lot I don't think you can really classify it in the same category. The tk40 is probably an even bigger light and uses 8 aa batteries and can't be recharged at a docking station like the 8060. The tk40 is of course much more powerful because of it's quad led and 8 cell power source, but I think they have different overall purposes. I can tell you this though, both lights are definitely super high quality.

  • Just wondering, is this flashlight only good for things such as police work? would it still be good for things such as camping or getting around at night?

  • This light would be wonderful for camping. Given the extremely long battery life and bright light. I would recommend it!

  • Great review. Thanks for your service.

  • Do you remember which website you purchased it from?

  • I got it from TigerDirect ... They should still have it..

  • That thing seems better for defense than a taser lol

  • Hey I'm stuck between getting either this one or the 7060, any suggestions? The 8060 seems quite long, but more powerful, and the 7060 is smaller but less bright. I'm really not sure.

  • Look at the size next to a MAG in the video. The 8060 is the perfect size in my hand. I broke a car window out with it two nights ago; plenty of striking power. I guess it all depends if you are using it as your primary or secondary light. If it is a secondary, I say just get the 7060...

  • lol I sure hope it was your car...

  • I was directing traffic at a major accident. I had my reflective vest on and my flashlight. I could see this guy in a van gawking at the accident and not paying attention to me. The people in the lane beside him had stopped. He looked back from looking at the accident and saw me.. He slammed on his brakes brushing my left arm with his van. I took my flashlight and popped out his back window. He then sped away real fast. I ave no regrets.

  • What are your thoughts on using it as an impact weapon? I like all the features about it, but it seems an aluminum cased light would make a better defensive tool.

    Thoughts?

  • It's definitly not a Mag for impact. But; the "heatsink" fins are made of metal. It has most of the weight near the bulb end(so it seams). If you conked someone (the old "wooden shampoo").. .. it would definitly get their attention!! Unless it was a 6'4" muscle head.. probably just piss him off.

  • That is what you call portable cover LOL. The pelican did light the room better even though it was focused more.

  • The Pelican 8060 and 7060 are both great flashlights. I own both and love them.

  • Great review. You should do some reviews on how it throws and if you can upgrade the LED to something much more powerful.

  • The more I use this flashlight the more I love it. The battery life is simply the best I have ever had from a flashlight with this output. I use it a couple of days then recharge it. This thing is worth it for the battery life alone.
