I had a boy called roady once, every time I got near him he would lick me like that and wouldn't stop, it was bad news if a friend got near him, he went almost mental to lick them, funny to watch cause they were all like 'ewww' so funny, your rats are absolutely adorable too, R.I.P roady, I miss him T.T

when they lick your hand it can be a form of submission and respect or it can also be just looking for food residue or salt.

if they give your very rapid but gentle little bites they grooming you, which is one of the ultimate signs of respect.

My rat would sometimes just NOT stop licking me, and he'd do the little "tooth groom" routine on my hand and arms, too. Would sometimes shave tiny patches of hair off doing it, lol. Rats can be extremely affectionate at times, but mine was like a dog or something with that tongue.

So adorable! They are grooming you, I think. Are your male rates neutered? We have 2 and one has bitten hard a couple times with those long teeth so I am afraid to touch him any more...even though we love him. I've read that some have high testosterone and the only way to maybe get him to stop biting (hard!) would be to neuter him. The vet said that costs $129. and it is not quaranteed he;ll stop. He has a very dominant, aggressive personality, and our other one is just the opposite.

I've only known one rat in my entire life that was aggressive, and I have had a lot of rats. She would constantly bite and I was asleep with my arm on the cage. I hate a bite on my forearm and my fingers were bitten. I woke up with tears running down my face and blood all over me arm and hand. I was like 12 though. I'm hoping I can have another one. My last two rats (they were my babies) they died when I was about 15 or so. Now I'm 20 lol

my guess is that it's because of your werewolfblood. rats tend to bite people with werewolfblood when they fall asleep with their arm on the cage

One of my boys does this too...he also grabs hold of my nose and lick that too (even inside which really tiggles) the other two never do it, its strange how they all have their own special personalities!

They lick your fingers because they are salty. Same with dogs when they constantly lick your arms and legs. I dunno why, they like that salty flavor.
