No, IGN would have been ignorant about this if they declared BF2 an improvement. I completely agree with them (this time at least). BF2 just has new stuff and all of the unbalanced crap from the first game along with a whole ton of other problems (Aalya Secura is WAY OVERPOWERED). Just because they added Jedi, space battles, flamethrowers or whatever DOESN'T mean it's better. All in all, it's the gameplay that makes a game good, not the amount of stuff you have.

His beef is that this game doesn't match up with 'the (his) dream' of how a starwars battlefield game should be. But you're supposed to review the game based on it's merits and deficiencies, not rate it based on how it matches up to a fantasy. That's like saying, "halo sucks because the aliens aren't like how I imagine them."

This game was epic. But IGN does actually have a point here. Battlefront 1 actually did have some things better than in BF2 (lol bf2=battlefield 2). Bespin was a cool map, but bf2 didn't have it. And as they said bf2 didn't offer that much new. But still this was underrated, cuz tons of people including me enjoyed it.

I, like many, spent an absurd number of hours playing this game, and I never actually owned it. Spent all that time playing it at several friends' houses.
This is a game that sorely needs a modern revamp. Better class balance, a few gameplay tweeks here & there and updated graphics & sound would make this a phenomenal multiplayer experience.
The only problems I had with this game were the frustrating Jedi fights (kinda cheap, since if you're attacked with light sabers, you're pretty much stuck ducking until they finish you off) and the mission objectives, which would sometimes be unclear. Other than that, I spent most of my middle school on this game. I don't see how IGN gives every CoD (same crap, they're more like DLCs than games) a great score, but actually good games average scores.
battlefront 1 AND 2 have cost me so many hours and i dont regret having "wasted" one of them!
i love to remember back to myself sitting in an AT-AT, blasting the shit out of the rebel shield generator, tauntaun races with my friends and fighting off 15 obi-wans in mos eisley!

I liked the original a bit better. The second one removed too many great maps from the first and kept too many bad ones. Though, the space battles were epic.

Step 1, Game companies send a crapload of money to IGN and attach a message, "more to come if you give us a good review." Step 2, IGN reviews the game, praising it no matter what and they get sent more craploads of money. Step 3, Rip on any game, regardless of how good it is if they don't receive any money from the game's company. Need an example? Every COD game=9pts or higher???

FUCK NO having epic wars where u could be a unit or hero and kill enemies is always cool i miss the ps2 one tho cuz u could do u and a friend good vs bad war u where fighting while 16 units where battling in the background :3

bf2 can play as jedi but it crash sometimes on win7

halo reach maybe deserves a bit lower than 9.2 (srry if that was wrong) but still a GREAT GAME those are examples of them being honest

Cmon people, we all know this game rocks, but is it really that hard to understand IGN's reviewing process by now. Step 1, Game companies send a crapload of money to IGN and attach a message, "more to come if you give us a good review." Step 2, IGN reviews the game, praising it no matter what and they get sent more craploads of money. Step 3, Rip on any game, regardless of how good it is if they don't receive any money from the game's company. Need an example? Every COD game=9pts or higher???

Do NOT listen to this review. The Battlefront games are top-notch 3PS games that provide hours of fun. It's a shame that B3 got stuck in development hell.

@LunarStrain6 I agree. The first was great, and this one even better. Even IF "Battlefront the First" (as the reviewer annoyingly liked to say) was bad, though, so what? IMO, he shouldn't have spent half the review talking about the first game. Make a few references to changes, but don't dwell on the past so much. What this review basically is a rant; a list of the things this guy didn't like about the game. Only at the very END did he say anything positive. Battlefront I and II was great games.

That's clearly not the point. "The game is too chaotic." "The space battles don't have enough crap happening in the background." What is this shit?
