Try to disable the micros-witch that closes the circuit when you close the oven's door. The oven can now be operated even with the door open. If you have a larger oven that can accommodate a human head like your head, try operating it with your head inside it. I tried it once and it sounds great. I can see all the colors I have never seen b4 in my life, hear all the angels singing, and feel some kind of frying which I don't from where is coming. Nice xperence. U kidz out there try it.
It took two YouTube Vids to help me replace the blown ceramic fuse in my microwave. The first video showed microwave basics and the simplest method for removing the torque screws by using a small flat screwdriver (about 1/8") , so no special tools needed. This vid, outside of the musical annoyance, displayed the same blown fuse problem and gave me the direction for my repair. I found the fuses at Radio Shack and a box of 4 cost less than 3.50.
The three things that normally go bad on a microwave are one of the three interlock switches, the capacitor, and the HV diode. If the magnets on the magnatron aren't broken, chances are the magnatron is OK. The magnatron is very well built.
All you have to do is buy a normal torx or hex bit set for a few bucks and drill out a hole in the center with a dremel. Simple. You don't need to spend $80 fucking dollars.
@Arabhacks "All of that to show that a fuse was bad?"
Yes some people are totally non technical, have no idea about electronics, and are not Engineers.

@Rickenmacker3001 Hey you dipshit limey, maybe he only supports his local ma and pop appliance store, where they have to charge more because they can't compete with big corporate home depot type stores?!?! So, go ahead, you sellout, and buy your five fuses. He helped people out here.
I knew you know your stuff..the "sausage fingers" and commentary about the state of crap being manufactured today. Plus you got the Fluke. Can't hope for a blown fuse on my Daewoo microwave: the rotisserie motor is bogging and the appliance lamp dims on power-up. Several times I forgot to take the spoons out before cooking.
i have problem with my microwave oven ,i was not starting at all .so i followed the instruction and check the fuse ,the fuse was not good so i replaced it and it seems to be fine.but when i tried to use it the fuse was gone again so my question is this what causes the fuse blown again and again.please respond to my question thanks.
@jumma88 Without being able to see it myself, there is no way to know. I'd first check to ensure the fuses you are using are the correct type for appliance use......specifically microwaves. Automotive fuses or standard buss fuses will not hold. If the rating and type are correct, there are several possibilities. I'd first consider the magnetron. It is the biggest electrical load and is what produces the microwave radiation. Beyond that, check for obvious shorts or signs of arcing.
Nice! The problem I had was cracked solder joints around the fuse/ circuit board. If you don't want to spend $80 to open the tamper proof screws u can always get a small flat head and snap off the studs inside them then u can use a regular T20 to open it.(they break easily).
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. My microwave seems to have a slightly different problem but once I started watching your video, I had to see how it turned out. I like the earthy delivery. Thanks for putting in work.
I took flat head screw driver and a hammer to hit around these screws, then used vise grips also to unscrew these tamper proof screws. I put regular screws back.
a small piece of metal of sheet my national ne-s300f microwave oven was tore down...anybody know what kind of material is that its just like a deck of a card in size.........or can i just replace it with ordinary metal
Microwave will not shut off. It seems to be stuck in clock mode. It runs but will not heat or shut off. Has anyone had this problem and how can I troubleshoot this problem. Thanks RG
Thanks for this Dacrocker, well aoppreciate. I have a slight, I bought this microwave recently (second hand). It works i.e.. the lights comes on, the base rotates but for some reason no heat is produced to warm the food.
Thank you very much for the microwave anatomy lesson. The casual approach to the zappy bits certainly got my attention, but on the other hand, I had no idea these things were so plastic! The breakdown and fuse check was very clear, and I feel confident that I can go that far for a repair. Harbor Freight for your bits, good stuff there. Thanks!
video would be 10 out of 10 if ya didnt have that music over the top. sorry but i couldnt watch all ya video the music was driving me mad!!!! that stupid f£$%king sax!
CAUTION: He should have mentioned right off the bat that the capacitor holds enough charge (even when the oven is not plugged in) to kill a person!! If you do not have some familiarity with electrical components and their workings; it might be best not to open your oven. (It's pretty rare that the fuse blows any how). Harbor Freight Tools has a cheap tool kit that contains nearly every kind of fitting to remove security type fasteners. No need to spend $80. The kit can be ordered online.
@MarktheMadMacMan The charge will not kill you. It's a DC charge, and the danger lies in one quickly pulling back in reaction to the shock and getting sliced open on the sharp edges of the sheet metal chassis.
@MicrowaveDisplaycom You should consider doing a little research. It does not matter if it is AC or DC current. Lightning is DC current, and it usually fries who ever gets struck (and it has little current). The amount of current is the primary factor followed by the path the charge takes through your body. At the least, you can get a pretty serious burn. I tell you what if you are so sure, do a video showing yourself shorting out the capacitor using your own body.
@MarktheMadMacMan Modern microwave oven high voltage capacitors have internal bleeder resistors that get rid of any charge very very quickly. Unless there's an internal failure of the bleeder or you contact the capacitor very shortly after running the oven, there won't actually be any appreciable charge.
At the 6:20 mark you were discussing multimeters and ohm readings. You said, if the fuse was blown, you would get nothing including no (zero) ohm reading. Actually, you would get an infinite ohm reading. An open circuit is total resistance, at the applicable voltages. I know what you meant, however, that the continuity tester wouldn't show continuity and therefore, wouldn't beep. Otherwise, a very helpful video, Thanks for posting it.

I had a Samsung that started blowing fuses when it was 10 years old. I ran wires from the internal socket to a circuit breaker I had screwed to the back and kept it going for another 10 years that way. Something (probably the magnetron or capacitor) was slowly degrading, since the breaker blew more frequently as time went on. I finally got rid of it when it started blowing every day.
YOU look terrible, no one will believe you. . Put the camera above your eyes, and look up to the camera, so that for example the viewer is not able to see up your nose. . Don't swear (cus) in any video. Don't say the "stink of it is" this is a phrase that you've forgotten that you learned in the street. . Don't bad-mouth other countries, China: it is illegal You actually said the F word at 3.00 2:55 shame on you ! . Buy yourself a video camera tripod. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.
@PsalmHymn It's not illegal to badmouth other countries in the U.S.A.; we can say whatever we want here as long as we don't threaten anyone. That said, there is plenty of good stuff made in China, as well as a lot of crap. It makes sense to mention the store that sold a shoddy item, since they have a stronger incentive to maintain their reputation than a country of 1 billion people that has (foolishly) lent us about 1 trillion dollars.
@lrd9999 Dear da., Thanks for your response. It is in fact illegal to tell others bad things about other people; if the people hearing you are inclined to agree with you, where previously they were not, that is incitment. . If someone said that ''you'' influenced them, then you could be liable to prosecution. . Inciting these others to violence is unlawful. Even thinking to do it is unlawful, even in the United States. . Cheers. from, del-boy.
@PsalmHymn Even thinking? Reminds me of that Cheap Trick song "Dream Police". I'll be having nightmares about it now.
PS: They can prosecute anyone who eggs on someone they already know is violent, or stirs up a crowd with "fighting words", the definition of which depends on the nature of the crowd. But Glen Beck and Al Sharpton are still free to spout off.
@lrd9999 Dear ird., Thanks for your further message Don't worry about thinking, someone like your good self would be the last person that M15 or the FBI or KGB would be interested in triangulating the thoughts of. They are only interested in the bad guys. . By the way I don't know who those guys are you mentioned. My microwave oven turntable started to go slowly and so I tuned-in to this vt. . I had to get a new oven because the one I had wore out; 16 years. . Cheers. from, del-boy
My microwave blacked out a few days ago. I first ordered a new one not having a clue of what to do. Since I lost my job, I decided to try to fix it - what do I got to lose. My OTR was a job getting inside. After unscrewing about 30 screws, I got into it. I found the fuse, got a new one and tried it. It worked! I closed it, put it back over the range, canceled my order and now it's working fine. Thanks a lot!
@MrFlamingo14 Well.....I got my set of tamper-proof screw bits from an electrical supply store...but it only came in a set. You may have luck at Sears or other tool seller. I'd also check online....Google it and see what comes up. If you only need the one type of screw tip, this may be your best bet. Hope this helps....Good Luck!
@MrFlamingo14 God, don't spend $80 on a torx set just for this project. Buy craftsman ignition pliers. Grip tightly around the head of the tamper-proof screw and twist. My non-removable screws came right off!
another great tool is the mini plier by snap-on. they can rip teeth out of your mouth with their grip (not that i've tried)
I swear the Chinese make stuff like this to crap out on purpose...

Without looking at it myself...this sound like the probable cause.
Thanks! I'm cheap! The day I had a guy come to the house to fix the washing machine really opened my eyes. I paid $75 for the guy to replace a bad "lid switch". The part retailed at $4.79....took him 5 minutes! After that I thought I owed it to myself to try to fix more things myself. Ha!

All of that to show that a fuse was bad?
Usually the fuse blowing is an indication of excess current draw, and something caused that.
Pull out fuse, replace with snap-in circuit breaker of correct rating, drill hole for reset button and properly mount.
Add MOV surge protection and you are done.
