is that really as steep as it looks? its pretty sweet how they just stick to it like a bug lol. What crawler the 1st one with the jeep body? anyone know .. or is it custom ?

yes it is as steep as it looks, you can see when John is stood next to it. The 1st crawler is a custom build based on Tamiya Clod axles and a pimp cane chassis from The Crawler Store in the US. The 2nd crawler is also pretty custom using Tamiya TLT axles and a Bender (now part of Axial) SW3 Chassis.

I have seen a few goes at gas rock crawlers but I have no doubt that electric is much better. You need smooth slow speed control which suits electric.

yea i have a T-Maxx 3.3 and the only thing it can do with rocks is jump em lol for crawlin electric is a far better choice

Electric motors won't be near as heavy, plus because of the slow/high torque gear ratio, the motors won't need to be as strong, which also means they can be very small and placed as low as possible to ensure perfect balence.

Tamiya TLT, stands for Tamiya Little Truck.. when modded builders use the axles and build new links, chassis etc. Simplest/easiest way into crawling now is with axial (search internet for Axial AX10 Scorpion).

The first crawler just sold on ebay at £380, to start from new your probably looking at double that for that crawler. But you can get started with a crawler from around £250

The wheels & tyres on first rig are designed for Traxxas Emaxx 40 series size MOABS fitted. The 2nd Rig has 2.2inch size wheels with 2.2inch Moab tyres.. Any local modelshop can help you.

Those two trucks are driven and owned by the guy who won the UK Nats in both classes (I finished 4th in the 2.2 Class) You are right its unreal how well the bigger truck climbs (Super class crawler is from start to 2.01 and 2.2 crawler is 2.01 to 2.33)
