I actually prefer Roger Craig Smith's portrayal over Jason Griffith's. Nearly every time Griffith said a line, it was just painful to listen to, especially in Sonic 06. Smith's portrayal makes Sonic sound a lot more tough, and less naive than Griffith's performance.

@KrisRandomHero You're so picky. This game was a step up from Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight, and some other game im forgetting. It didn't count on too much gimmicky ideas to make a selling point. Now sure Sonic uses aliens, but I would prefer that over him wielding a freaking sword, or becoming a were-hog which in itself makes no sense if you were to translate the word to Man-hog.

@KrisRandomHero I do agree that they could have, but a lot of the really good Nintendo games aren't for the story, it's for the gameplay. Not relying on gimmicks and keeping it simple is what made this game more than bearable for once. Think back on the age of 2D. The story was merely implied, or a simple paragraph in a game guide. Not emphasizing on a story and just trying to make it fun is how Sonic is. A darker story for Sonic just failed a lot (Shadow the Hedgehog, am I right?).

A lot of people differ from their genres of games, and I particularly like a story to intertwine with the gameplay, otherwise it doesn't seem fit to play a game just to play it. It's not that I wouldn't play a game to play it, but it's like playing Final Fantasy 13 for the gameplay. That just doesn't work for me.

In my opinion, Shadow The Hedgehog wasn't that bad of a game. I had a lot of fun playing it, but I just didn't see it was very fitting to the franchise.

@KrisRandomHero Complex stories tend not to be Nintendo's thing, they try to focus on making the game fun to play. Personally, I think Sonic does well with more emphasis on gameplay than story, it would just work for them. Mario is huge, Metroid was huge, and look at Braid or Limbo. Or Minecraft. Story doesn't make a game fun, it's the gameplay. Just my opinion though. It may not be right to you, or others. =) I do agree with you in cases for Sony games, though.

When you get a set amount, you unlock two or four something "Acts" There are 21 acts in all. Each emerald is unlocked on the third act. so 7 emeralds x 3 acts= 21 acts
