  • This piece reminded me why music is magic in and of itself. Brilliant piece :)

  • I have been wondering for years why this piece had not been recorded on guitar. After struggling in learning about the first 24 bars..... I decided the piece was above my level. It is a joy to hear it played on my favorite instrument as it should be.... Great job!

  • this does sound awesome though

  • @joker18811 yes it does frazier. We need to play it. Somebody needs to play it with me

  • haha hey bud

  • hey frazier

  • do you have the sheet music for this? im willing to buy it

  • @zacrichey I have arranged this piece,my arrangement is VERY similar, if you want it i can throw it your way. PM me

  • This is a very lovely setting of an intrinsically beautiful piece. I'd be interested to know how many overdubbed guitar tracks there are in your arrangement. I can hear at least 2, but not sure if there's another one.

  • Lol at the people who think they can play this with "tabs."

  • @viasevenvai hahahaha thats so true. I hate it when i see comments saying "where can i get the tabs?" on classical guitar videos

  • I've seen Richard twice and he plays this live just like this with the film on a screen behind him. It is played on two guitars, the other being over dubbed when he plays it live. You can order his CD's, from his website i guess, or get them at his shows. He's truly an amazing musician and one of the nicest men I've ever met. Get along to see him if you can, you won't regret it.

  • Beautiful. YTViews are meaningless. The individual experience is everything. If you search around for paid TV, you can buy a few minutes of time to air this work of art. Here in the States, ppl R always buying time to air their creations. Much of it never even approaches this presentation level of skill and art. Thankyou for such a brilliantly uplifting rendition, really made my day. Best regards.

  • This is amazing, this inspired me to learn this song on my classical guitar!

  • In fact I never really thought about how brilliantly impressionist music suits the classical guitar...You can do vibratos, glissandos, flageolets, vary the tone colour...When you think about it, the guitar has beautiful possibilities for that kind of music...I´m happy I came across this lovely, dreamlike video, now I own an insight more. :)

P.S.: I would love to find the notes of this version somewhere...Since it is for 3 guitars (I suppose), me and my two friends could play it as an ensemble...

  • Dear Mr. Durant. PLEASE! PLEASE, allow us something in the way of form of sheet notes or tablature. Your composition is perfect and I would take no small amount of pleasure in being able to learn it and play it. Thank you

  • Its sad to see that this beautifull work only has 3307 views so far.

  • @MiguelAngeloDP92 The best art is intimate.

  • Amazing arrangement and video.

    A beautifull portrait of Impressionism.

    Debussy would be proud =)

    Congratulations.

  • yeah thats brilliant. it sounds like 3 guitars to me

  • @alfiepintsworth I think he overdubbed another guitar. Don't get me wrong, it's still fantastic, I just think he recorded a second guitar in some parts where there might be too many notes at once from the original piano score.

  • This is quite possibly... the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

  • great arrangement and incredible performance!

  • How many guitars is it arranged for --- two, or three?

  • where can i get tabs for this?

  • where can i get tabs or this?

  • Wow! This is so cool! Arabesque no 1 is my favorite piano piece and to hear it on guitar is amazing! Is there a transcription :D ?

  • Jaw-dropping. Previously my understanding was that this could only be played correctly on the piano or harp, but Richard has clearly demonstrated that this stunning piece of music can be performed to absolute perfection on the classical guitar. I am at an utter loss. I thought I'd heard it all, but now I see there is true skill among us. An absolute credit to the genius that was Claude Debussy.

Why haven't more people viewed this? It made me weep (literally) with joy.

  • Where is this available to purchase in mp3? I couldn't find it in iTunes, does anyone know where he recorded this or what album it is on? It's the most outstanding performance I've ever heard.

  • @NearlyMars It is two guitars playing this... it's sitll virtually impossible on a single guitar.

  • This NEEDS more views

  • I can't believe I'm hearing this! This is total ear candy! I've loved this song for a long time and, now that I'm finally learning guitar, I would love to be able to play this.

  • Incredible tone production.

  • Superb! Brilliant! What more can we say? A really lovely piece normally heard on the piano but absolutly brilliant hearing it for the first time played on the guitar!

  • thats an awesome arrangement...im assuming its double tracked? sounds like it
