If they were truely the compassionate and caring individuals they attempt to represent themselves as, why do they take such large salaries for doing what they feel is their duty? LOL. Peta has a wrong idea on saving pets. They shouldn't be killed even it's called mercy killing, instead they should be cared adopted and be loved. I like their adds about anti animal abuse, but I don't like their policy. It's like killing 85% of poor person with no homes! Poor animals, they will die without experiencing what they need to experience. If I could, I will adopt them all. :(
But the Peta representative makes no mention of this, of this most very important factor... it makes me question the method strongly. If it were painless, he would have, or should have made that clear.
It's not how many were killed, but the manner in which they were killed that makes all the difference. Peta is against cruelty to animals, if they couldn't realistically take care of the animals they saved, at least they saved them from horrid living conditions and a painful death... but all this relies on Peta killing the animals using a painless method, if so, they can still hold their heads high, if not, they're the same as the people they oppose.
@sleepyskorpion Uhhh... no. The PeTA HQ is located in Norfolk, VA. The local SCPA finds homes for around 70+% of their animals on a shoestring budget. On top of that, the SCPA's requirements and post adoption rules are very strinct which includes random checking up on the adopted animal within the first year of adoption.
PeTA just kills them. In addition since I live in this area, many believe that PeTA is a local shelter like anything else. So they send them in thinking PeTA will find a home

PeTA has this excuse that majority of the animals they put down are not healthy physically or mentally to be adopted. But like I said, local shelters have the same issues as PeTA but operates on a much smaller budget, but are far more successful.
In fact there was an inspection done either last year or the year before that turns out PeTA failed it's own "Shelter Standards".
f i was a sick animal on the streets and i saw a person from PETA try to "rescue" me i would do all that i could to maul that person to death so i wouldn't be taken to that death camp called an animal shelter! Seeking opinion of if i did the right thing please respond...THIS IS A TRUE STORY. I was walking my dog and a peta member runs up to me and yells at me for having a leash on my dog... wich is a law. I argue with him for a bit then he tries to take the collar of my 126 pound rottweiler and it bites his hand then he pushes my dog over and i kick him across the face as hard as i could. He calls cops and cop shows up. witness said i was assaulted by peta guy he gets week in jail and $10,000 fine.

@theusedjosh Humans became meat eaters out of necessity, to choice. we would have stayed in the trees in Africa if we could have, but the plains and deserts in Africa began to take over much of our habitat between 4-5 million years ago. Because of that, we had no fruits, or hardly any plant matter to work with, so we began to hunt. This is why humans, for thousands and millions of years have survived just fine with eating meat. do we need meat, may be not, but we can still eat it.

Another thing for PETA folks to consider, if you do not hunt and refuse to know anyone who hunts, then you don't know what hunting is and therefore cannot stand on a stage and wage war on us hunters. We all know by know that PETA kills most of their animals. But to kill 85+ percent of the animals annually they are pledged to help IS GENOCIDE. ALL other orgs manage to find homes for at least 50%. Well, considering the number and frequency of comments has dropped substantially, I think I knocked some sense into a few PETA supporters. I would like everyone to know that they are entitled to their opinions, but PETA is trying to demonize all those who don't fit their views perfectly. I am not against Vegan ism, or Vegetarianism, in fact I respect you for it. But for many of us, we just want to hunt, fish, and eat meat. So if you do not like it, do not do it. After researching on this subject extensively, I have found that PETA, or at least some of their supporters want to do nothing less than exterminate ALL domestic animals. PETA first says that they want ALL dogs and cats to be spayed and neutered. Then I heard several people state that it is a good idea to eliminate domestic animals because they must be cared for by humans. if you don't believe me I can email you proof, and no I didn't get this off of some anti-PETA site that is making up BS.

You have to read from the bottom up. So if PETA believes that I should be vegan because of their narrow views, then isn't that more wrong than hunting itself? in that case I go back to the idea that if an animal has the choice what what to do and eat, then why can't I have the same choice? I believe I am equal to a dog or cat or horse, so therefore I should be able to make my own choices just like other animals. It's not how many were killed, but the manner in which they were killed that makes all the difference. Peta is against cruelty to animals, if they couldn't realistically take care of the animals they saved, at least they saved them from horrid living conditions and a painful death... but all this relies on Peta killing the animals using a painless method, if so, they can still hold their heads high, if not, they're the same as the people they oppose.

@sleepyskorpion Uhhh... no. The PeTA HQ is located in Norfolk, VA. The local SCPA finds homes for around 70+% of their animals on a shoestring budget. On top of that, the SCPA's requirements and post adoption rules are very strinct which includes random checking up on the adopted animal within the first year of adoption.
PeTA just kills them. In addition since I live in this area, many believe that PeTA is a local shelter like anything else. So they send them in thinking PeTA will find a home

PeTA has this excuse that majority of the animals they put down are not healthy physically or mentally to be adopted. But like I said, local shelters have the same issues as PeTA but operates on a much smaller budget, but are far more successful.
In fact there was an inspection done either last year or the year before that turns out PeTA failed it's own "Shelter Standards".

Seeking opinion of if i did the right thing please respond...THIS IS A TRUE STORY. I was walking my dog and a peta member runs up to me and yells at me for having a leash on my dog... wich is a law. I argue with him for a bit then he tries to take the collar of my 126 pound rottweiler and it bites his hand then he pushes my dog over and i kick him across the face as hard as i could. He calls cops and cop shows up. witness said i was assaulted by peta guy he gets week in jail and $10,000 fine.

@theusedjosh Humans became meat eaters out of necessity, to choice. we would have stayed in the trees in Africa if we could have, but the plains and deserts in Africa began to take over much of our habitat between 4-5 million years ago. Because of that, we had no fruits, or hardly any plant matter to work with, so we began to hunt. This is why humans, for thousands and millions of years have survived just fine with eating meat. do we need meat, may be not, but we can still eat it.

@LuckynumberSlevin11 In review, I believe that our species either has to choose hunting, or ranching or a balance of both. We'll get there at some point, but PETA is a little impatient. I think that PETA does kill WAY too many of its animals because they really do want to eliminate domestic animals because they are forever bound to people. And I am all for bringing down these big corporations that abuse their livestock, but I think that going as far as eliminating the meat industry is extreme

Another thing for all of you PETA supporters to consider, Why is PETA allowed to exist? PETA would tell you that it is because they are just, fair, and forgiving people who help animals. Well, Its actually because all of these people who work with animals, use animals, kill animals have enough respect to not tell you what to eat, wear, and do in life. But god forbid that PETA not tell people what to do! PETA needs to back off on the throttle and consider what they say and act on.

You have to read from the bottom up. So if PETA believes that I should be vegan because of their narrow views, then isn't that more wrong than hunting itself? in that case I go back to the idea that if an animal has the choice what what to do and eat, then why can't I have the same choice? I believe I am equal to a dog or cat or horse, so therefore I should be able to make my own choices just like other animals. PETA doesn't want to let on to the fact that there are obvious flaws in its plan

If animals are not ours to "exploit or use in any way" then why are they playing god with so many animals lives. This is the major fault I find in PETA. That and they promote violence over reason which doesn't help anything. I love animals, and I love hunting. I don't shoot game to watch it die, I shoot game because I want to have something on the dinner table. You should be vegan by choice, not by force...

Finally, if all animals have the right to life, then why does PETA euthanize dogs and cats who have very treatable injuries like a broken leg or a wound on the chest. few of the animals euthanized by PETA have anything seriously wrong with them. So if that's the case, then why can't they spend money to help the animals they are "protecting"? Why can't PETA practice what they preach...

It's obvious that humans can eat meat, everything about us shows signs of it. our teeth have incisors and premolars for cutting and chewing flesh. In the past no one had a problem with hunting until recently, so what's this whole movement about then? These re questions that I have asked PETA in the past, and they were careful not to answer them. That tells me they are leaving something out of the picture...

PETA thinks that, "a rat is a pig, a pig is a dog and a dog is a boy," so a rat is therefore equal to a boy. Well if that's true, then why can't I have the same privileges that animals have. Shame on these kids in the audience blindly buying into Peta's bullshit... Peta's representative puts a spin on killing thousands of animals and he gets a huge applause. When its shown that PETA kills 10K animals that could have saved and found new homes the applause in minimal.

PeTA is trying very hard to fight an overwhelming problem in this country. There is too much ignorance and complacency regarding the overpopulation of pets and the problems of stray animals. I agree with PeTA's speaker,what are they to do with the millions of stray and abused pets they rescue? They must make the most humane and hard decision to put these animals down to avoid suffering.
