Wow get over it. I think this was meant to be "loosely" inspired from a story about Jeremy which may or may not reflect actual events. The fact it didn't depict the actual facts is irrelevant. Try to figure out what the words are saying next time, ok?
no. he hated his life, got made fun of, couldnt stand it, commited scuicide in front of his class. in the real version of this vid( the one they arent allowed to show on tv) it shows him putting a gun in his mouth and killing himself
i presume your not implying that pearl jam are making money out of his death because this song is loosely inspired by a newspaper article that eddie read its not a true dipiction of jeremy and its also loosely based on his friend well then what was different about the real jeremy
That is what the video is showing, the kid shot himself in front of the class, the blood shown on the students i think represents his blood being on their hands.
Exactly on point, everyone had a part in it so everyone had blood on their hands. some ppl think he became violent because off the lyrics, but the lyrics are just a metaphor
Most popular people in mainstream society separate us from them first mentally, then physically. Some of us, like me, are able to find a way out of our own pain and tear down the mental wall that separates us from society (although they are still "haunted" by the experiences) . Some end up like Jeremy and "check out early". It is sad that as we grow in intelligence yet we still repeat the same mistake. As long as we continue to stay in ignorance, we will have more people like Jeremy Wade Delle.
He actually walked into his 2nd period English class late, and then the teacher told him to get a pass from the office. He then returned a minute later with a .44 magnum pistol and said, "I got what I really went for!" Then he pulled the trigger!
this song was made becaues it is about a child feeling that he has no way out and commits suicide in front of his class. soo the song fits with the video.
I think he meant that the way the vid was re-edited (by MTV AFAIK) it looked like the titular kid shot the class when, in fact, Jeremy shot himself...in front of the class.
That's such an awful thing that happened. Poor Jeremy. Why are some kids so messed up these days? Jeremy had those children picking on him. After all things, the adults didn't do anything!!! The worst part is if the old Church traditions are right... then Jeremy's in Hell. Gosh, I hope he's not. Hope God understands.
maybe it's because my name is Jeremy, or because I got picked on in school and such... but when this song came out... it became like an idolized song... though I didn't kill anyone... at least not IRL. I went to video games w00t!
especially when something happens to one of those bulied kids at your school like they kill themself or something yet the "popular" "cool" people get in fron of the camera and say "he was my best friend im going to miss that kid" but they just want to get on tv thats what pisses me off. its what happened at my school and i hate it so much. hang in their people who get bullied, dont ever do suicide it hardly makes a difference anyway
because some media promotes being the 'cool' ones so they lend it out that bullies are usually the cool ones witch is partially corrupting the human nation
This song reminds me of my childhood. Not that i'm that far out of my childhood to begin with. But it reminds me of the route i could easily have taken. Being beaten every day for not being what everyone wants you to be tends to drive you crazy. I could've done something like this. But what good would it really have done. Kids please think before you act. It could save you or someone else.
the sad part about this song is it predicted some of the future. Society gets more focused on money, sex, and being popular than the actual need of kids. Kids like Jeremy who don't fit in are exiles in mainstream society. I should know, i'm one of them. It sucks. People need to realize that just becauses others are different, it doesn't mean that they can treat them as sub-human, animals, etc.
I've been picked on, and it isn't fun, but you're a stronger person for dealing with it than cracking. I know how tempting it is to absolutely ruin the people who did you wrong, but you're a stronger person for resisting. Hang in there.
This song is not just about being home schooled you dumb asses. its about a little boy with a fucked up life. its not just the kids at school it is his parents to so home school wouldnt help much because he would still have to deal with his home problems. I can tell that some of you were home schooled
bullies are easly avoided if your home schooled they are also avoided if you kick some ass once in awhile to to many kids are home schooled and dont have a life at all
ahh, bullied. Well kids, you must stand up for your selves, but remember when people see you getting bullied they will "honor" the "better man" instead. Kill em with kindness, i'm serious, And my bullies as a child were my best friends. It's tough, I know it is but be the bigger person, and sometimes a puch in the face is what it takes, be the alpha.
The loss of life and violence are never the answer, instead of being proud for doing something mindless and causing them pain, you could try being the bigger person and ignore them. It's regrettable that this child killed himself, but just because someone is picking on you and making your life hell doesn't give you the right to deal out retribution. All things come in time, even if you don't know them anymore.
in the 4th grade i got mentaly bullied so bad that this kid made me lose all of my school friends expect and eventualy i punched the kid in the face. broke his nose and knoched him out. best moment of my life

ps. i got all my friend back because they saw what a duch bag he was
and i saw some kid get his ass kicked because some other kid saw him bullying this one kid and thats when he saw him do it for 2 minutes.
I still remember the very first time - 1992 - I saw this video and learnt that there was a band called PJ... I've been shocked for days... Who was this incredible young man with crazy, blue, child-like, passionate eyes, so full of fury? He taught me to see my own fury, craziness, rage, passion.

Whatever happend to music that sent that chill to you and you couldn't get rid of it for a week? Jermey is one of those songs that you just can't touch and will go down as one of the most bone chilling classics that you won't find anywhere else. Real music had a great run. I fucking miss it!
actualy this about the boy jeremy who goes to school, stands in front of the class and shoots himself. the blood u see on the other students is jeremy's. mtv censored out a part in the vid where u see jeremy walk into the class w/ a gun in his mouth so when people saw the other students w/ blood they thought jeremy shot them and people thought it promoted school shootings.
if you don't stop writing this you'r going to get an (anal pounding) from a wild yack !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so unles you like geting fucked in the ass by horny animals you'r stop writing this
Reminder: the "Pearl Jam Ten Revisited" special ACTUALLY SHOWS Jeremy put the gun in his mouth, seriously!!! PEARL JAM & this song kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!
actually this song has nothing to do with supporting school shootings. When this song first came out everyone blamed it for the rising school violence, but it was actually wrote to show the otherside of the story that people over look and how parents and kids can be cruel enough to cause a kid to hate. It was not meant to encourage shootings, but to understand the pain and suffering that some kids go through.
in my senior sociology class we learned about this song and wrote an essay on the murders of the little boys in west memphis..this song should touch every1 that listens to it or reads the lyrics..it can teach us all a great lesson...and it is one of my favorite songs
the bible verse genesis 3:6 is "when the woman saw that the tree looked like goot eating and realized what would get out of it- she'd know everything!-she took and ate the fruit then gave some to her husband, and he ate." i dont understand what that has to do with jeremy, unless he was a drug addict or something like that, which i doubt.
You are correct in quoting genesis 3:6...however, the idea of drugs is irrelevant. The bible excerpt referrs to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Eve ("the woman") disobeys God's orders by eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. "Her husband" Adam ate as well. The reference here is the creation of sin. Up until this point in the bible, there was no sin. However, after this act, sin was created. Obviously a troubled child, Jeremy would associate himself with the creation of sin.
Absolutely. I was in Jr. High School in 1992-1993 and there were 3 suicides and one on-campus "stand-off" in that time, so this song really spoke loudly to me.
To me, that Genesis 6:3 line refers to the end of innocence. The birth of sin was the end of the innocence of Man. Acts like those of young Jeremy Wade Delle and of those friends we lost in my Jr. High days were the end of innocence for us all.
I removed it cause I was trying to post it under someone else's comments, but... it didn't wanna do that. Dunno why. I just re-posted what I deleted. Thanks for the props!

THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST THING WE SHOW AMERICAN SCHOOL-KIDS ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
Burn this video into their heads Day One.
Because we can all snap one day...
Better to make friends than enemies.
Better to love your fellow brothers and sisters instead of hate them.
Better to praise than to ridicule.
The weak and downtrodden will rise up to slay the oppressors sooner or later.
Think before you act, kids. For the sake of your lives...

actually this song has nothing to do with supporting school shootings. When this song first came out everyone blamed it for the rising school violence, but it was actually wrote to show the otherside of the story that people over look and how parents and kids can be cruel enough to cause a kid to hate. It was not meant to encourage shootings, but to understand the pain and suffering that some kids go through.

the bible verse genesis 3:6 is "when the woman saw that the tree looked like goot eating and realized what would get out of it- she'd know everything!-she took and ate the fruit then gave some to her husband, and he ate." i dont understand what that has to do with jeremy, unless he was a drug addict or something like that, which i doubt.
SkunkInABox 2 years ago
